Chapter: Unexpected help
When the fight between her brother and Naraku began, Linn's body cramped from the tension and she felt that it was the same for Kagome and Shippo.
The two opponents clashed again and again with full force but Linn soon discovered that Inuyasha couldn't do too much against the mighty demon. He was put more and more on the defensive and Linn thought feverishly how she could help him in this situation. Even if it hurt, she was aware that it would be of no use if she tried to intervene in the fight herself now. Her strength wasn't great enough and she would probably only hinder Inuyasha. But she had to do something! Suddenly she had an idea.
"Kagome, can't you try to hit Naraku with one of your magic arrows? Maybe they can harm him or maybe they'll distract him for a moment.", she exclaimed excitedly, but Kagome just looked at her sadly.
"I've already thought of that, but the two of them are just moving too fast. The risk that I could accidentally meet Inu Yasha instead of Naraku is far too great!" a house of cards.
"Yeah, you're right ..." she muttered. It was just awful. She felt completely helpless. Absentmindedly she began to hum the melody to herself again, which had given her consolation in so many hopeless situations, but even that now seemed to be of no use.
Another tremor made her gaze wander over the battlefield again. Could it be that Naraku's strength had even increased? Why the hell wasn't he getting tired? Even if Inuyasha could now use his demonic powers to the full, he would not be able to keep fighting on this high level forever.Suddenly they saw Inuyasha flinch and hold his right arm. He appeared to be wounded, but at first they couldn't see how severe the injury actually was. He fought doggedly on, but after a while the arm he hit began to flicker back and forth on his body more and more uncontrollably, which of course made it even more difficult for him to dodge Naraku's devastating blows.
Linn's eyes filled with tears and she saw how Naraku drew his sword again and brought it down on her beloved brother.
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" The silence was broken and through the veil of tears in front of her eyes she could only see how suddenly a figure came out of nowhere and blocked Naraku's blade just before Inu Yasha's body. It was like a miracle. When Inuyasha saw the sword rush towards him and heard the nasty laughter of his archenemy booming in his head, he cursed his own ineptitude. He hadn't managed to protect his friends. He hadn't managed to protect Linn. He hadn't managed to protect his world.
"You lost again, half-breed. First you let your great love die and now everyone else ..."
Already Inuyasha could see his golden eyes reflect in Naraku's blade. He wouldn't close his eyes. He wanted to face death. But nevertheless it suddenly got dark in front of his eyes and only when he looked up did he recognize the person with the long white hair who had saved his life at that moment.
Sesshoumaru had fended off Naraku's blade with his own sword Toukijin and his counterpart was inevitably forced to leap backwards."You're alive ...", Naraku hissed and you could almost have thought that there was a tiny spark of surprise in his voice.
"Yes, but you won't be much longer!", Sesshoumaru hissed and used the moment of surprise to fire a targeted blow in Naraku's direction. In this hate-soaked atmosphere, the demon sword Toukijin was able to develop its full potential. It glowed blood red and left where it cut a swath of devastation.
Inuyasha couldn't believe his eyes. The white baboon's fur lay in tatters on the ground. How did Sesshoumaru manage to destroy Naraku with a single blow? He was sure that this time they hadn't had one of his dolls. He had felt Naraku's energy very clearly. As a full-fledged demon, was Sesshoumaru really that much stronger than him?
But before he could address a word to his brother, he heard another familiar voice in his head."Do you really think it would be that easy ???"
He jerked his gaze back to where Naraku had been a moment ago. With horror he saw how a kind of black mist rose from the remains of the monkey's fur and condensed above it into a rapidly growing cloud.
Without warning, a huge tentacle suddenly shot out of the cloud and snatched his sword from Sesshoumaru's hands and then broke it apparently without any effort. The two halves of the Toukijin fell to the floor with a clang. Sesshoumaru didn't move a face but Inu Yasha, who had already experienced the power of the demon sword first hand, was sure that the dog demon would not be indifferent that his mighty blade had just been crumbled like a match.
Even if he had never felt anything like brotherly feelings for Sesshoumaru, his presence now gave him new courage. They both wanted to destroy Naraku and together they might have a chance. With a mighty battle cry, he lifted Tessaiga one more time and hit the tentacle with it, which then fell to the ground with a disgusting clapping sound. One last twitch went through him and then he lay lifeless in front of her eyes.
Inuyasha was about to pat himself on the shoulder for the successful action when he suddenly saw a pair of red, sparkling eyes flashing in the fog and at least twenty new tentacles immediately shot out of them. Inuyasha jumped into the air and just managed to avoid one of them, but Sesshoumaru was grabbed by them and pulled up by one leg. Furiously, he thrashed around and severed a few more arms, which were immediately replaced by twice as many. One of them brushed his head and made a sizeable gash on his face, from which blood dripped onto the floor in front of Inuyasha. These tentacles also seemed razor-sharp. Did that never end?
Linn and the others, of course, had seen what had happened. Sesshoumaru's sudden appearance had been more than surprising to her too, but now that it looked as if he and Inuyasha were going to fight Naraku together, new hope grew in them. Linn wondered whether it had been a coincidence that Sesshoumaru had appeared here at that moment or whether he had been attracted by her melody after all. The idea struck her as completely unrealistic, but what hadn't struck her as unrealistic in the past few weeks? In this uncertain time anything was possible.
Once again she noticed that Sesshoumaru always carried two swords with him. When the two were alone, she asked him what this was all about, but once again he just growled indefinitely and left her without an answer."Kagome, do you know something about Sesshoumaru's swords?", She asked her friend, who had just watched the fight spellbound and seemed a little taken by surprise by this question. But after she recovered, she began to tell:
"Sesshoumaru owns the sword Tensaiga, the twin swords of Tessaiga. Both are forged from a fang of her father Inu Taishou. While Tessaiga kills a hundred men in one fell swoop, Tensaiga can bring a hundred dead back to life with Tensaiga. That's how her father did it Sesshoumaru doesn’t care much about giving life to others and that’s why Tensaiga is useless to him in battle. So far he has tried everything to get Inuyasha's sword from a fang of one of Naraku’s descendants Have another sword forged - the demon sword Toukijin, which is full of evil energy .... "
As if on cue, the two of them now had to watch as this sword was broken into two parts by one of the tentacles and its owner hung helplessly in the air a little later, kicking helplessly. Now Kagome began to sob uncontrollably.
"There is no point. Even together they have no chance against Naraku. Sango and Miroku are dead. It's all over ...", she managed to tearfully. Linn took her in his arms and stroked her hair, but she thought feverishly. It was just an idea, but maybe this was her last chance. She gently pushed Kagome away, smiled at her one last time, and then ran as fast as she could.
"Linn !!! No !!!!!", Kagome and Shippo shouted as if from one mouth, but Linn ignored her calls and kept walking. In a few leaps she had reached the battlefield, where Inu Yasha and Sesshoumaru were still trying valiantly to hold their own against the army of tentacles.
"Linn, get out of here !!" Inuyasha gasped furiously when his sister suddenly stood next to him and pushed her aside.
"No! Listen to me!", She said firmly and skillfully avoided an approaching tentacle."You have to join your forces. This is the only way you have a chance to defeat Naraku."
"What do you think we're doing here?", Sesshoumaru hissed while blood ran into his mouth as he spoke.
"I mean the power of your swords. Tessaiga and Tensaiga are twin swords. If you join forces, you can win!", She shouted.
"That's absurd. How do you know? Arrgh ..." In the middle of the sentence Inuyasha was grabbed by a tentacle and almost pulled into the fog, but he managed to free himself just in time with the help of his sharp claws .
"It's just a guess, but it's worth a try. It can't get any more than wrong and it can't get any worse than now. I'll take care of those damn tentacles and buy you a little time and then be Your turn. Hurry up !! ", Linn called to both of them and immediately got to work. She had been able to train her strength extensively in the last few weeks and immediately grabbed one of the tentacles and bit him through.Inu Yasha and Sesshoumaru looked at Linn and then at each other skeptically, but in this situation they really didn't have time to discuss. As much as they hated to work together, they nodded silently to each other and both drew their swords.
Inuyasha tried to concentrate even if the poison, which was spreading further and further through his body, did not make this easy for him. He had to find the wind scar and hit it exactly on the first try, otherwise it was all in vain. He felt the tremendous energy
