After the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai, Reiji, Tenshinhan and joined
<br />
Chao-Zu Son Goku and co. at. At the beginning of the Piccolo saga, he tries to help the troop as much as possible. When he faces Piccolo himself, his end seems to have come. He risks his life for a frightened 16 year old sage named Maya and gets away more or less safe. With her he spends the first time up to the 23rd TBK.

In the preliminary rounds, Reiji first meets a young woman who turns out to be Maya and who has had a child with him for 2 years. He then also throws Tao Bai Bai out of the ring (whereby the teacher-student scene between Tao Bai Bai and Tenshinhan moves outside)

And so Reiji competes in the eighth final against Tenshinhan, which he then defeats and logically competes against Goku in the semifinals, but draws the shorter one. The rest of the DB runs as usual.<br />

Reiji appears there for the first time when Piccolo and Son Goku are fighting Raditz and helping his friend. After Son Gohan's attack on Raditz, Reiji throws himself in front of Son Gohan, where they both get a hard blow. Later, Reiji comes across who he actually is when Piccolo tells about the Sayajin. The year you have been training in the arctic and in the desert.
