Chapter: how it all started
Hi guys!
I tried something once and would like your opinion on it. have fun with it...
When I look back on my life like that, I can say that I have achieved a lot. I found a wonderful husband and started a loving family with him. That was about 50 years ago and yet I still remember every single wonderful minute. When I look back, I can count myself lucky to have had such a life. There are people who think back with horror, but that's not me and I never wanted to be one.
But my life wasn't always like this. Looking back on my youth, I have to say that I was a real tomboy. My parents were often in despair with me. They were the best people anyone can imagine. My mother was a clerk in a supermarket in Maryland, and my father was the bravest inspector anyone could imagine. Everyone in the small village was happy to be friends with them. They always had advice and understanding for individual problems. Well, that's how I've remembered her since I went to New York when I was 18. Life in a village just became too boring for me and I finally wanted to go into the big, wide world. It broke my mother's heart that I went so far from home, but I couldn't do anything else. After my boyfriend at the time left me and graduated from high school, I knew the time had come for my trip.
Sure, the first few months have been tough. With great effort I found an apartment that I could afford with my savings. The landlord was a really slimy guy, but before I was out on the street, I was ready to compromise in life. My apartment wasn't very big. The rooms were small and a few times you could see bugs crawling around. Sometimes I just couldn't believe that I had given up my nice room in my parents' house to live in such a shabby place instead. But I also wanted to be independent, that was the reason why I didn't accept any help from them. I was grown up and wanted to be able to take care of myself. But since I had an apartment, I also had to look for a job. At first I worked in a small bar called "The Nightdream" and my pay was pretty good. The customers were happy to give tips. I guess it had something to do with how I looked. When I was 18, my hair was still curly blond and went perfectly with my sea-blue eyes. My slim figure and my feminine curves have made many men break into sweats. The boss always made sure that his "bunnies", as he liked to call us, always wore a miniskirt with a wide-cut blouse and high and uncomfortable high-heeled shoes. They hurt with every step, but the only positive thing about them was that they emphasized my long legs. This is probably the reason why I often go to the bar with sayings like "Sweetie, when are you going to end work" or "Can you also be rented for home?" had to live.Over time, I saved money to finance a dance school. My greatest wish, since seeing a ballet dancer performance on television, was to be like them. My parents could never understand it, yet they let me dream about it. When I was 23 I had my first practice lessons. Although I had to practice hard on my condition and my flexibility, I managed to get my first role in a dance performance two years later. My mother had tears in her eyes on the evening of the premiere and my father was just as happy as that. That was a nice feeling and luck was always on my side, to this day .....
Claire was rudely pulled out of her dreams by the ringing of her alarm clock. “Damn it, why does this thing have to wake me up right now?” Even though she knew the answer to the question before she'd finished speaking, she couldn't help saying it out loud.It was just 6:30 a.m. on her watch, but she had to start early to prepare for an important role. It was thanks to her manager that Claire finally got a leading role, so she wanted to stick to her training schedule. So she got up and went into the kitchen to make a coffee. On the way there she passed her mirror and the image she saw made her realize that she must have had a restless dream. Claire decided that a coffee was about to make her world look a lot better. She took a long swig and when her tongue touched the liquid, she cried out in horror. "Damn it is hot. Why is this happening to me?" Not having time to think about this question, Claire decided to get ready for training. Her first appointment today was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and as she knew each other, she still needed some time in the bathroom.Twenty minutes before this appointment she finally had a shower behind her and was looking for her body and the leggings that she usually wore to dance. She had tied her curls in a pigtail and put a thin layer of make-up on her face. A look at the clock told her that she was late again. Claire hurried down the stairs and almost slipped if she hadn't held on to the railing. She could still hear the phone ringing in her apartment, but she didn't have time to turn around. As she did every morning, she took a taxi, but unfortunately the streets were already full of them at this time because quite a few people drove to work. Fortunately for her, the theater she had to go to was not far away, but she was 10 minutes late. The director was already waiting impatiently for her. He was a man in the early 50s, but still an expert in his field and well known. The only thing he didn't like was being late."You are late, Claire. We had a date 10 minutes ago. Do you think you can afford to be late just because you are in the lead? There are enough others that you would like to be on time . "Before she could even reply, he sent her to change clothes.
Such a puffed up snot, she thought to herself. Someone should give his opinion a lot. "Others would like to have this role," she mimicked him. As fast as Claire could, she slipped into her leggings and put on her body over them. After one last look in the mirror, she decided she was ready to show him her talent. “He'll be surprised.” “Don't be so angry, it won't suit you.” Startled, she turned around and saw Tim, the male lead and good colleague of hers, standing behind her. In her anger, she hadn't noticed him entering the locker room. But since she did not want to let him show the horror, she turned around and looked him in the eye."It's true, isn't it? Somebody should get him off his high horse." "We have to start now. Come on, dance for me." Together they went on stage and began to rehearse the dances for the performance. Over time, her anger subsided as she moved with Tim. Like wildly both swept across the stage and gave their best. The sweat was evident in both of them, but professional dancers had to endure this when such a slave-driving director saw them. Finally he allowed them to take a short break and the two dancers, exhausted but happy, went back to the cloakroom, where drinks had already been placed for them. "You were really great, Claire. You'd think you were born to dance." "Thank you, you make me very embarrassed. By the way, you weren't that bad either." "Thank you to have something to eat tonight? "" You invite me?" "Yes. We've known each other for a while now and I think we should go out together someday. "" So you think. Well, we are coworkers and so we shouldn't be dating. "" It's not a date. Think of it as a business meeting. We take a little refreshment beforehand and then we can go to your or my apartment and we dance a little. "At these words Tim put on a cheeky grin and Claire saw the lust flash in his eyes. When he then also confirmed his statement by pulling her close and moving slightly with her, her breath caught. This man had she has always been fascinated, but never in her dreams did she think that he would invite her and now she had the chance, it wasn't love what she felt for him, it was pure desire what she felt when she saw him.
Just as she was about to say yes, she was called to the phone. Claire was reluctant to get out of that hug, but she had no choice as they told her the call was very important. She picked up the phone, slightly annoyed.
"Claire here. Who wants to speak to me?" A male voice answered on the other end of the line. "Um ... I don't know if you can still remember me. I'm Ryan Winter. I was once your neighbor in Maryland." Since she could only vaguely remember him, she continued. "What do you want from me?" "I'm calling for a reason. Your parents were in a car accident and are both in the hospital. I think you should come because they are pretty serious." She immediately rejected her plans for one romantic dinner with Tim and decided to go to her parents' house as soon as she could. Back to the village that she had avoided for 5 years. "Okay, I'll be right there."
