Chapter 4: Inuki's distrust
Inuyasha and the others had to pause their search during the night.
After a while they found their way out of the forest, after having been seized by a few demons beforehand. But they were over quickly after they had made the acquaintance of Inu Yasha in particular, but also Sango and Miroku.
Now the friends were resting by a campfire on the edge of the forest. Shippo and Kirara were already sound asleep, and so was Kagome, apparently. Sango sat a little away from them on a larger stone and looked up at the night sky. At first there was nothing to be seen of Miroku, he said beforehand that he wanted to take a look around the area. Meanwhile Inuyasha sat with his back against a tree and let his gaze wander attentively.Danger didn't seem to be in the air at the moment. The Hanyou's attention then turned to Kagome when she sat up with a low sigh.
"Can't you sleep, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked calmly and Kagome shook his head. "Not really."
The girl got up and came up to him. After sitting next to him, she looked thoughtfully into the campfire.
"Don't get so tired." Inuyasha said. "That doesn't make things any better."
Kagome looked down. "Yes I know."
There was silence again.
At some point Inuyasha spoke up again: "Don't worry, Kagome. I'll get Kimie back. I promise you that."
The girl looked up. He nodded encouragingly and she smiled. "Thank you, Inuyasha."
While Kagome and Inuyasha talked a little longer, Miroku returned to the group. However, he did not sit by the campfire, but instead went to Sango, who was still sitting on the stone."Aren't you tired, Sango?" Asked the monk. The girl turned to him. "No, somehow not."
Miroku sat down on the stone next to her. "You're worried, aren't you?"
Sango nodded. "I can understand Kagome well. When I think about how important my little brother Kohaku is to me ... I hope Kimie is fine. I hope that not only for Kagome, but also for Kimie herself."
"Inuyasha said that Kimie was alive. She's probably fine.", Miroku said and put a hand on her shoulder soothingly. Sango smiled slightly. “Yes, you are probably right.” Her gaze wandered back up to the midnight blue sky. "The night is so nice and quiet."
"Right." The monk also looked up. "Just look how beautiful the moon shines tonight, Sango," he said with a melancholy undertone. Sango was surprised. Miroku had never spoken to her like this before. But she had to admit that she liked the way she sat next to him now.The girl, too, was now looking more closely at the moon. "Yes, you are right, Miroku. This is really wonderful ... Huh ?!"
Sango stopped suddenly when she suddenly saw Miroku's hand on her bum.
"There's something romantic about it, don't you think?" He whispered innocently, while she was now blushing with anger. “I really can't find anything romantic about that!” And Sango jumped up and gave him a hard head-butt. Miroku fell off the stone and landed in the grass. Angry, Sango clenched her hand in a fist and you could have believed it would explode any moment. > It's just hard to believe! <
Inuyasha had looked up curiously as soon as he noticed Sango's tantrum. Now he saw Miroku lying on the grass and a rather angry looking Sango standing by with a raised fist.
"What kind of problem do the two of them have again?" He asked himself, although he could already guess it.Then he stopped. Actually, he had expected a remark from Kagome, but she didn't say anything. Inuyasha glanced at her. "Kagome?"
But immediately afterwards he was silent again.
> Oh! She fell asleep
Kagome leaned his head on Inu Yasha's shoulder and slept soundly. At first he blushed slightly and averted his gaze. Then he looked at her in silence for a long time and finally a slight smile came to his lips.
The new day heralded itself with the rise of the sun. Slowly the warm rays spread over the land and awakened the still sleeping minds.
Rin was scurrying around happily around Jaken, who was still a little bit asleep removing the remains from the campfire. Ah-Un dozed a little while. Sesshoumaru scanned his gaze when his eyes stopped on Kimie. She was still sleeping and didn't give the impression that she would wake up on her own anytime soon.Inuki was lying next to the girl, but she was also awake.
"Kimie-san is still sleeping.", Rin stated now. That was the keyword for Jaken. With a big grin he ran over to Kimie. "I'll do it, sir, if you allow me.", He said to Sesshoumaru and eyed the sleeping girl carefully. Now the head stick was used. Jaken scurried around Kimie, poking her every now and then with the bottom of the stick. "Hey! Come on! Get up!"
But she didn't react to any of the wake-up attempts and instead just turned from one side to the other, always so that Jaken was always behind her.
Inuki watched the toad demon seem a bit bored. It seemed as if the dog in Jaken only saw something like a little troublemaker who didn't need to bark or growl to put him in his place.
When Jaken was standing right in front of Kimie and she tapped the stick again, Kimie hit him with her fist exactly in his direction and gave him a strong hook on the chin. With a lot of birdsong, the toad demon landed in the grass.
"Jaken-sama, are you all right?", Rin asked a little worried, while Sesshoumaru had followed everything without comment.
"What ... for ... a ... blow ...", Jaken mumbled as he sat up again after a moment and hesitantly straightened his jaw. Fortunately for him, he seemed to be still intact. When his gaze fell on Kimie again, she wasn't awake, no, she was still sleeping calmly, as if she couldn't cloud any water.
Jaken made a wide detour around the girl and went to Sesshoumaru. "Sesshoumaru-sama, let's just leave them here.", He suggested to his master with an angry look at Kimie.
"But we can't do that, Jaken-sama!", Rin contradicted and looked at Sesshoumaru waiting. This now went to Kimie. Inuki was still lying next to her, but when the youkai approached, the dog got up. He looked suspicious, which he signaled with a warning growl.Jaken was immediately back on the spot. "You dare to growl at Sesshoumaru-sama ?! That is like a threat, you insolent animal!" He waved his head stick around, which only seemed to irritate Inuki, because suddenly he snapped forward and snapped with a bark Jaken, who backed away in time.
"That was probably not a good idea, Jaken-sama," said Rin. "Kimie-san told me yesterday that Inuki doesn't like it at all when you try to threaten him."
Jaken looked reproachfully at the little girl. "And you couldn't have told me that earlier?"
Inuki turned back to Sesshoumaru, growling. He was a little surprised by Inuki's behavior, as he had to admit to himself, but of course he didn't show it. He had never met a dog who seemed to want to assert itself against him, Sesshoumaru, so obviously and tried to stand in his way so unconditionally. The youkai threw the dog a warning look that the mongrel apparently could interpret immediately, because he abruptly fell silent.Nevertheless, he didn't move from Kimie's side, but stayed close to her when Sesshoumaru knelt on the floor next to the girl. She was lying on her side with her back to him. Inuki took great care that the youkai did nothing to his mistress and never let him out of sight. Every now and then he let out a short growl while Sesshoumaru now started to wake Kimie.
"Come on! Wake up!" He shook her shoulder slightly, but she just mumbled something to herself. Jaken sat sullenly on the grass while Rin watched everything carefully.
Sesshoumaru shook the girl's shoulder again, but this time a little harder.
Kimie then turned on the other side and got hold of something with her hand, which she felt carefully. It was soft, soft fur. Half asleep, she wondered if it was Inuki's fur, after all, he had spent the night next to her.
"Inuki ... is that you?", she asked softly. A short bark sounded behind her. Skeptically, Kimie finally sat up, but still didn't let go of the fur. Then she opened her eyes and discovered Inuki, who was sitting to her left and looking at her attentively. The girl." stopped short and turned her gaze to the other side. At first she only saw the light fur that was still holding her, then her gaze wandered on and suddenly she looked directly into Sesshoumaru's eyes, which were looking at her with an indefinable look. Kimie believed that that She was holding Sesshoumaru's fur, which he always wore over his shoulder, in her hand! Abruptly, she jumped up, letting go of the fur, but stumbled backwards, whereupon she was immediately back on the ground sat.
"Heavens! Don't scare me like that!", She said breathlessly and felt her heart pounding against her chest. That had certainly been the shock of her life and it was a small moment before she recovered."Well, good morning anyway.", She added afterwards as if by the way.
Sesshoumaru got up again.
> What does he have now? she asked Kimie uncertainly as he stared at her like that. > Man, is it cold here ... <In fact, Sesshoumaru's gaze could have turned even the Sahara into an ice desert. But contrary to Kimie's expectations, Sesshoumaru apparently had no intentions, just turned around without a word. Inwardly, she breathed a sigh of relief. > Uff! No death threats. But to be honest, I still don't feel any better ... <
Kimie was greeted happily by Inuki and immediately her concerns seemed to have blown away. "Good morning, sweetheart! Are you okay?" The mongrel barked and jumped around the girl, who was now standing up. Her gaze fell on Rin now. "Good morning, Rin."
“Good morning, Kimie-san.” Rin smiled cheerfully. Kimie stretched and then asked, "Are we going on in a minute?"
"No, Sesshoumaru-sama said we'll stay here a moment longer.""Fine, then we don't
