Chapter 1

"Well, are you finally awake?" With a low moan, I slowly opened my eyes. I saw everything only blurred. My body ached, every muscle ached, and my head felt like it was about to burst. I tried to get up, but someone gently but firmly pushed me back into the soft pillow.
"You have to rest, the way was again very exhausting for you.", Said a soft voice.
Slowly I saw more clearly again. Bright daylight streamed into the room in which I was. It was apparently a sick room because there were many beds in it.Apart from me, two people sat in the snow-white beds: two men. A woman in a white smock was sitting by my bed.
"Are you hungry, Anna? I brought you lunch.", She pointed to the tray that was on a small bedside table next to my bed: an indefinable soup.
"No thanks! I'm not hungry!", I said, because I had lost my appetite, "But how do you know my name?"
Before the woman could answer, someone burst into the room.
"Hey, you're awake!", There he was again, he who was so strange to me and yet familiar, "I brought someone with me!"
He stepped aside and cleared his eyes for someone else: "May I introduce, this is Jim!"
I looked at Jim.
He was a tall young man with hair dyed ice blue and an encouraging smile on his face. He wasn't the shy kind of person, because as soon as Jim saw me and introduced him to me, he stepped up to me and hugged me with the words: "Hey Anna!We haven't seen each other in a really long time! ", he read from me again and continued," Man, it's been an eternity! I hope you are well, except for the little crash on arrival! I said to him, "Jim pointed to him," that he shouldn't fetch you because I had foreseen something like that! "
Jim talked like a waterfall and I struggled to follow him.
"Well, definitely ..."
The nurse interrupted him: "Please shut up for a moment! Don't you see how Anna is trying ?! She has to rest! And she can't even waste a thought when you drool over her so much ! "
She looked angrily at Jim and pointed with her hand at the door. "OUT! You are not contributing to the recovery, so get out of here and take care of your machine!"
Offended, Jim stalked out of the room without even looking at us.
"Oh, I think I've finished him now ... I'll check on him!", she got up and ran quickly out of the room, but not without giving him a quick glance and nodding encouragingly.
She closed the door and then we were both alone. He grinned at me.
"Well ... that was Laila! She didn't have time to introduce herself! In any case, she's doing her job very well."
"Aha.", I wasn't very talkative and I just couldn't manage more.
I was so confused and wanted some clarification. An embarrassing silence ensued and none of us had the courage to break it. Until he cleared his throat.
"You want to understand. Am I right?"
"Yes.", Came another short answer from me.
"I can understand that.", He painted invisible patterns in the white ceiling.
"But I can't tell you. Not even my name! I'm sorry, but I'll shut up! You have to figure it out on your own. And I'm sure it won't take you long!"
I understood less than before and frowned in confusion, which made him grin again."Maybe you should see Shayne! He can then show you all the equipment. From knives to spears and so on."
"Aha. Shayne. Who is that?" I asked stupidly.
And he just looked at me more stupidly and shook his head.
"You don't even remember Shayne. Bad! But never mind! I put your clothes on the chair next to the bed. When you feel better again you can go to him. His room number is 216. But knock before you go in." I have to go now, I have something to talk to Jim about. See you then! "
He wanted to go on his way, but he stopped again and came back. He pressed a button on a control that was stuck in the wall.
"If you want to change ... Nobody should look away from you! Just press the green button and the thing disappears again."
With these words he disappeared from the room and I was left alone. A strange steel wall came around the area of my bed.At first I was wondering, but I stopped thinking about all these weird things. I just got a headache from everything I didn't understand one way or another. So I got up and looked at the clothes on the chair.
"Gosh, what a bourgeois dress!" I wrinkled my nose and changed.

"Room 216 ..." I mumbled to myself as I walked down the hallways.
It was pleasant and very varied to cross the corridors here, as each corridor was painted in a different color. First I came into corridors of different shades of red. Then there were pink corridors, followed by some in many different shades of purple. And finally I came into blue hallways. I arrived at the rooms that started with the number 200 and looked for the 216.
“Here it is.” I stopped in front of a door and knocked softly.
Nobody answered me. After knocking again and getting no answer, I vigorously opened the door and stepped inside.I look around.
It looked like a 1 room apartment, with its own kitchen and bathroom.
I could see few details, however, because the room was bathed in dim light. The light came from countless candles that were scattered everywhere. The windows were darkened and there was a strong smell of incense sticks.
"Test failed!"
I looked confused at the floor because there was a guy sitting cross-legged and seemed to be meditating.
"I beg your pardon?"
"You are still as impatient as you used to be! Nothing has changed."
Shayne grinned, but his eyes were still closed.
I swallowed. It was a cruel feeling to know that a person knew you but couldn't remember it to yourself. I wanted this black hole to go away.
"To be honest Anna: You are disturbing! I'm working on my fighting technique right now."
I laughed out loud. "By sitting on the floor ?!"
"Yes! There is always more to it than you think. Remember that. And when it comes to fighting specifically, it's not always just about attacking each other. You have to be as fit mentally as you are physically. But to be honest, I'm not meditating right now, I've fought a fight with my brother until just now. "
I sat down next to him and saw how he briefly opened his right eye a crack.
"How is that?" I asked cautiously, because I didn't want to get another know-it-all answer.
"We fight mentally!"
“And where is your brother?” I felt pretty stupid with these questions. As if I were a little kid looking for Santa Claus.
“Far away!” There was grief in his voice.
"And because of you, I just lost!"
Shayne opened his eyes fully now.
“Sorry!” I bowed my head.
"Oh ... I would have let him win anyway. Once in his life he has to beat his big brother once in a while." He winked.
Shayne got up and stretched. Then he turned on the light and blew out the candles.Meanwhile I opened the window.
The landscape was overwhelming. A glittering lake framed by the most beautiful flowers I had ever seen. Behind the lake was a dark forest. Behind it towered high mountains, the peaks of which could not be seen.
"Wow!" I whispered.
Shayne came to me.
"Yes ... it's great, isn't it ?! But everything has two faces."
I turned to him, frowning, but he didn't explain what he meant by that, just kept staring at the lake.
"Shall I show you the guns?" He asked absently.
"I ... don't know. I can't fight at all." I confessed uncertainly.
Shayne just smiled, but kept looking at the lake.
"It's good that you don't want to! I don't really have any time either! I still have a lot to do. Gary should show up soon ..."
I looked at him sideways. I turned slowly and walked towards the door. Without Shayne noticing, I crept out of the room.
'He's probably fighting a mental battle again!'I thought annoyed.
Something was fucking weird here.
Not just all the people I had met, but apparently this whole world. Lost in thought, I ran through the corridors. I only looked up again when I noticed that the corridors were painted orange.
I hadn't paid attention to the path and had probably walked in the completely wrong direction. And now I knew neither before nor back.
I sighed in resignation and stepped a little further to a window. I wanted to see this beautiful view again, which had a strange effect on me.
But when I looked out the window, I caught my breath.
Nothing here was as wonderful as before.
It was cruel!
Everything was mechanical. Smoke polluted the air and made everything obscure.
No one was on the road that looked like a motorway.
Just cars that whizzed from one place to another.
So was that what Shayne meant with two faces?

"So here you are!You can't just get lost! We still need you! "Jim came up to me, panting.
I startled.
"It's cruel, isn't it?", Jim said, breathing heavily, stood next to me and also looked out.
"The two faces ..." he muttered.
I looked in his face. He had the same expression in his eyes as Shane when he looked at the beautiful landscape. Grief and ... maybe guilt and remorse?
He shook his head vigorously and turned to me.
"It's good I found you! We need to discuss something."
He put his hand on my shoulder. As soon as he touched her, I felt an electric shock go through my entire body. Startled, I backed away and looked at Jim.
He now looked at the ground.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to ..." he muttered.
I looked at him again.
"What's up?" I asked coldly and Jim walked ahead with a quick pace.

“There you are at last!” He walked impatiently towards us as soon as Jim and I entered the room."Thank the little lady who had to walk through the whole building to
