He hadn't even turned to the demon who was trying to kill him. He felt a stab of pain when the sword was rammed into his back and when he looked down he could see that the point had been pierced and the upper part was now sticking out of his stomach. His eyes blurred strangely, he tried to scream because of the pain, but couldn't. He couldn't keep himself up either and he fell to the ground. The demon scowled and raised its blade.
Azrani struggled to his feet, but threatened to collapse. She couldn't possibly make it to Chris in time. "Help him, do something!", She yelled at Jame, who just stood there motionless and looked at the scene in silence. "Please!" She gasped and he just shrugged. He wasn't going to help her. Breathing heavily, she struggled to her feet, which was more than easy with her broken leg."Wait, you can't do that!" Jame shouted after her, but she didn't listen to him. She ran on as fast as she could.
"Chris!", She yelled at her demonic companion, but he didn't react. He had closed his eyes when the demon's sword fell on him. The force of the blow hurt his left buttocks and again she screamed: "CHRIS!" His bright yellow eyes opened again, but unfortunately at exactly the wrong moment. "Stand still, you are only putting yourself in danger!" Said Jame, who stood behind her and put his arms around her to stop her. Because of her broken leg, she couldn't resist and fell into his arms.
What was she doing? Chris wondered when he saw that. Just why? It was no longer indifferent to him what happened to him, his jealousy and his anger against Jame gave him new strength. In a flash he got up and pulled the demon sword from his body and thrust it into the throat of his attacker.He stood there in the middle of the market square, smeared with blood, looking hateful at Jame, who was still hugging Azrani. He hated the way she was there with him, the way she threw herself on his neck. His demon blood took over and he was no longer in control ...
Chris stormed up to her and Jame. There was no longer a yellow glow in his eyes, they now had the same blood-red tone as his wings. Somehow Azrani was now afraid of him. "Calm down again, demon!", Jame shouted angrily and wanted to reach for his ax, but Azrani held him back. "You mustn't hurt him, he's my friend! Listen up Chris, what are you going to do?" Without even batting an eyelid, he rammed the already bloodied sword into Jame's heart. He was dead before he hit the ground. "NO! What ...? No ...", Azrani managed to get out while she got on her knees next to the dead Jame."Why are you doing that ?!" she yelled at Chris, who was still standing in front of her with red eyes.
The fight in the market place about to end, neither of the demons nor of the people in front of anyone remained alive, only the two who stood in silence. Chris slowly calmed down and his eyes returned to their original tone. "You are just an ordinary demon who has nothing else in mind than to kill innocent people! I should never have trusted you!", She yelled at him with tear-streaked eyes. That hit him. Was it true? Wasn't he better than the demon he'd just slaughtered? WHAT was he actually? "You monster!", She answered the question for him and grabbed Jame`s ax that was lying on the ground. "You fooled me, but now you have to pay! Finally you showed your true colors!", She said and tried to get up again, but her broken leg wouldn't allow her that.
"I ... I didn't want to ... I just wanted ..." he tried to apologize.Yes, what did he actually want? He wanted Azrani for himself ... He loved her. But was a demon even allowed to love?
She lashed out furiously with the ax and Chris could barely avoid it. He spread his wings and flew to the nearest tree, safe. "I'm sorry ..." he managed, but then he corrected himself and said the truth: "I love you." Twenty minutes ago she would have reacted differently. Maybe she would have laughed at him, maybe passed out from shock, maybe just been happy.
