Spellbound

Yugi looked up in surprise.
He just couldn't stop doing it. He had never seen anyone look so amazed before.
The book from which he had just been reading was (still) still on his lap. The wonderful story of love and magic was forgotten in mid-sentence when this simple image caught Yugi's attention at that perfect moment ...
As quietly as possible, Yugi put the book on the small table in front of the crackling fireplace and quietly walked to the window."Yami?" Yugi asked gently.
His darkness smiled as he felt his hikari's arms gently wrapped around his waist.
"Yes, Tenshi?" Yami answered gently, but still looked out the window.
Yugi smiled. "You have never seen snow before, have you?"
Finally, Yami took his eyes off the window, unable to suppress the admiration in his sparkling purple eyes, and slowly shook his head.
"Never." He said almost inaudibly.
Yugi's gaze softened as his darkness began to look out the window again, captured by the graceful falling snowflakes, which fell gently from the sky to form a pure, white crystal ceiling everywhere.
The world was almost entirely white.
It was really beautiful.
"When it rained in Egypt ..." Yami said gently, "everyone came out of their houses just to see, feel, touch - just to experience the rain that so rarely fell over the deserts ... it was a gift from the gods themselves ... "Yugi felt how Yami's arms pulled him closer and both sighed contentedly into each other's embrace as they looked out at the snowflakes.
"There was dancing, singing and everyone was happy when the vital blessing of the rain fell on the, for those few moments, united kingdom."
Yami continued dreamily. "Rank did not matter. Slaves and nobles danced together and the rain fell on everyone equally ..." He looked at the snow again with pure admiration.
Yugi looked up at Yami briefly before slowly reaching out a hand and opening the window. The cold breeze blew into the living room, creating a startling contrast with the warmth of the fire, but the two youngsters hardly noticed it.
Without a word, Yugi took Yami's hand and held it up to the snowing sky.
The coolness of the flakes spread over Yami's palm. They melted instantly when they touched the warm skin ... but settled comfortably on the sleeves of Yami's deep blue sweater. As he withdrew his arm, Yami looked at the tiny snowflakes that decorated his sleeve like frozen sugar.
His eyes widened. Awe lifted him to a new level as he took a closer look at the snowflakes.
"Wow ..." he muttered.
Yugi smiled calmly. "Nature certainly makes beautiful rain."
Yami looked at him as the flakes began to melt. Little did he know that snowflakes can be so complicated ... so beautiful and lovely made from heaven to be presented as a gift to the world below.
Yami tenderly embraced Yugi, held him tight and wished that this moment would never end.
“Nature also makes beautiful people.” Yami whispered and looked into the eyes of his light. "Especially Hikaris ..."
Smiling gently, Yugi giggled and hugged Yami tighter.
Together they looked out again and watched the snow fall.
Both wondered what they had done to deserve such a beautiful gift on this wonderful evening.Owari
