Chapter: (No human?

Sango and Miroku stood together in the meadow where the dried up, bone-eating well that served as a gateway to the rest of the world stood.
They had been aware of their love for one another for some time and didn't press around anymore. Miroku couldn’t completely shake off his old habit of looking up pretty girls, but Sango had been trained to point him out for a long time.
Even then, the demon hunter had been the one who seemed to be grown up, and she was now too. A beautiful young woman with almost waist-length, shiny black hair and dark, shining eyes that betrayed her experience over the years.
Miroku had barely changed, and still looked as young and handsome as in his younger years. Short, dark hair with a little pigtail and a very pretty face, with dark blue eyes - a rarity in this country.
Shippo sat on the edge of the fountain and looked inside, he hadn't really gotten any bigger than before. The reason for this could only be guessed from the long life expectancy of a demon. But questions arose over and over again as to those beings. Some had a shorter "childhood", others looked a lot more human than they really were and still others seemed to age madly, but also to become stronger and completely others could hardly be described in their shape.
Sango had certainly seen a multitude of types of demons, but even she only knew a fraction of the variety.
"Will Inuyasha come home again that night? Maybe he'll bring Kagome with him!" The little fox demon hoped, whose bushy tail covered his back as he leaned forward and looked more like a fur ball than a boy from behind.
"Shippo, you hope that Kagome will come back every day. She was there a week ago. She said she had a lot to do in her era.", Sango explained with a slightly reproachful voice. Her voice was pleasantly smoky and betrayed her strength. Miroku usually got goose bumps when she spoke. He kind of liked that slight smoky sound. He smiled at his demon hunter, because even now a slight goose bumps wandered down his back and made him shiver pleasantly. He loved the feeling that Sango made him feel.
Shippo was rarely quickly satisfied with what he was "served" and looked at Sango offended.
"A week is probably enough waiting time!" He grumbled, slightly annoyed.
"Well, then you will have to wait a little longer."
Shippo turned to the familiar voice of the half demon and immediately stared back into the fountain, expecting that he might just be joking and that Kagome would appear behind him. But Inuyasha left the fountain alone without turning back.
"What do you mean? What did she say?" Shippo shouted angrily and gave something like a low growl. Inuyasha just shrugged and replied without looking at the little fox demon."Well, what I said. I can't help it. She's way too busy with ..." he paused when he thought about Kagome walking away with this hojo.
"... with learning."
Sango and Miroku knew very well that there was another reason and Inuyasha had to deal with this alone. It was just like that.
Of course it hurt the hanyou immensely. But he didn't want to complain. He would protect Kagome here, but she was still arguably safer in her era. And she didn't want to live here anymore.
Suddenly Inuyasha sensed a change in the air. Miroku knew immediately what that could mean.
"Are there demons around?" Asked the young monk, wondering why he didn't feel that aura. Sango didn't seem to feel anything either. Only Shippo, besides Inuyasha, seemed to perceive something that only good noses and demons could perceive.
Inuyasha knitted his eyebrows, not sure what it was.It didn't smell really threatening, but it was very strange.
"It doesn't smell like a demon, but it doesn't smell like a person either."
He just realized that it was kind of comfortable. Then he winced and Miroku and Sango felt it too.
"There is a demon after all! So close?", Said Miroku and tensed a little more.
"Don't forget, since Naraku didn't appear again, the demons have come out of their holes. Now they are getting cocky again.", Sango said and finally hurried after Inuyasha, who disappeared in big leaps into the forest. Shippo and Miroku followed closely.
In fact, a demon wasn't very far. It was reminiscent of a western dragon, but the shiny scales were missing and the head was very misshapen with a round muzzle. Nor did it have wings as one might have suspected. And no tail, but thorn-like claws, black, pointed teeth that could crush bones and a hard green-black skin. This demon had no hair at all. None of the four friends knew this type of demon and this time Inuyasha cursed it that Myoga was not there. The flea ghost was sometimes there and sometimes not. You could never tell when he would show up and now he would definitely go to a safer place than this.
But to everyone's surprise, two girls were also there to oppose that demon.
They wore simple kimonos and appeared to be from the village. Yet neither knew them and the village was so big that they could not be overlooked. Especially the young woman with the chestnut red hair, which, depending on the intensity of the light, looked sometimes lighter and sometimes darker. She held a kind of lock and wore a glove that looked very strange and was made of a strange material. Somehow it seemed alive and yet it wasn't. The barrier also seemed to be made of the same material. The woman herself looked very delicate, but she seemed determined.Nobody could tell that she came from here. But no one knew where she came from either. The other woman was clearly from here. Long black hair tied in a bun, slightly smaller than the redhead, and distinctly dark almond eyes.
Inuyasha didn't think twice and pulled out his Tessaiga. He jumped forward just as quickly. Sango strapped her boomerang from her shoulder and started to throw, while Miroku, with his monk's staff, stood in front of the girls to create a protective spell.
The demon roared when hit by the boomerang and sword. Inuyasha felt that the armor was very hard and clearly saw the kickback. He had thought this demon would be easy to defeat, but probably not that way and with pure physical strength. Still, he didn't want to give up anytime soon. He jumped back, saw how Sango's boomerang ricocheted off unsuccessfully, saw a shadow out of the corner of his eye and finally, before he could react, received a violent blow with his claw. The half-demon slammed stunned to the ground and just thought through clenched teeth.
I should have finished him off with the wind scar right away!
The black-haired girl screamed. Because the demon finally struck out with his claw to find those two girls and the monk who were not visible to the demon due to the wards. He just missed Miroku's head, but he didn't move, didn't let himself be put off, instead he continued to mumble his prayer.
It was his luck that Inuyasha and Sango intervened again. Even Shippo confused the demon with his fox fire, because he had found out through the scream where the three were and was just about to crush them.
Sango jumped up, used the demon's momentum and hurled liquid in his face that was corrosive for demons. However, the demon caught her shoulder and tore off the sleeve of her tunic. Sango screamed and barely jumped away. Inuyasha raised his sword, smelled the wind scar, and struck the scar over and over again. The force tore Miroku and the girls to the ground. The earth splashed up without seeing what was making its way and hit the demon with full force.
He seemed sure of his cause beforehand, but the armor was not strong enough for the wind scar and it tore him mercilessly.
Inuyasha still stood there with his sword and looked at Miroku and the two girls. Then he heard Shippo scream.
"Sango is hurt!"
Miroku immediately jumped up, without thinking about taking care of the two strange girls, to hurry to the slayer, who only waved away.
"It's okay. It's just a cat," she pressed out between her teeth.
Her shoulder was bleeding profusely, but it really appeared to be just a small flesh wound. She had seen worse. Miroku immediately attended to her wound. Shippo crouched down and watched. Only Inuyasha now approached the girls. The strange smell came from them.
He noticed that the glove and the lock, from which redheads were no longer there. She must have lost both in the fight.
"Who are you?" He wanted to know gruffly. The redhead helped her friend up and finally looked at him directly and challenged.
"Nobody!" She replied just as gruffly, without a word of gratitude. This smell came from her alone, noticed Inuyasha and was slowly able to give it a name. It reminded him of earth, grass and flowers. But he couldn't say for sure whether this description was correct.
"Don't get cheeky, little one. Tell me, who are you and where are you from?"
The redhead was almost as tall as Inuyasha herself and certainly not on her mouth either.
“I'm naughty to whoever I want and especially to demons.” She looked at him contemptuously. The half-demon gave a low growl and the dark-haired woman intervened and smiled apologetically.
"Forgive my friend. I'm Katha and she's called Aurinia. Thank you very much for your help. We don't want to bother you any longer.", Katha called kindly and pushed her friend away from Inuyasha.
Inuyasha was a little surprised by the names of the two. Because they really didn't want to match the two of them, it would rather fit if they swapped names.
Aurinia let her friend lead her away and Inuyasha left it at that too. He turned to his friends and went with them to Kaede's hut in the village. The fight was really short and as long as the girls, especially the redheads, didn't cause any problems, Inuyasha shouldn't care.
“What about the girl?” Miroku wanted to know, but Inuyasha just waved it off and grumbled:
"They went their own way. They can manage on their own."
Inuyasha was very confident in this.
