Lost in the sand
Lost
The heat was unbearable. The sweat ran down my face and my clothes were already very wet.
I had been given the order to pick up a client from Suna. For that I had to go through the great desert. The sun burned hotly down on me and robbed me of my strength. To make matters worse, I forgot to pack something to drink. I was in such a rush that I totally forgot. Of course, my father hadn't reminded me of it, just looked at it contemptuously. He probably couldn't understand why I had been given such an assignment.
"Woe to you screw it up!" Were his only words. They were full of disgust. He was only concerned with the family's honor. He never liked me. To him I was just a weak little girl who wasn't really worth being the heiress of the clan.
I stopped, took a hasty breath. Did I actually want to be the heiress? I did not know it. Maybe he was right ... maybe I was really too weak.Everything was possible, but at that moment I didn't care! That way they didn't sink anymore and it was easier. It was like water. It didn't really take much strength, but I was weakened by the excruciating heat and the loss of water, so that I had trouble keeping the flow going. But I couldn't give up, not now!
Suddenly ... I stumbled ... fell ... and sank ...
"Quicksand!" Shot through my head. I looked for stop ... and found it too. A stone was my salvation. I clutched it with my right hand and pulled myself up with difficulty ...
When I finally made it, I tipped forward. Sand fell into my eyes and I squeezed them together. It burned terribly. I wanted to wipe it away, but I no longer had any feeling in my arms. "Why?"I thought." Why now of all times? "
I felt something cold, wet on my face. It was my tears that ran down my cheeks. They tasted salty, but they were refreshing. I opened my eyes a crack. My surroundings were hazy, but I recognized a figure casting its shadow on me. It grew taller as the figure leaned over to pick me up. I couldn't see the person, but I felt the warmth emanating from them.
Suddenly it got dark around me. A sharp pain pierced my chest.
"Now I'll never know who this person is." Was my last thought before I fell asleep. Forever…
