Chapter: prolog

Day, night, day, night, day, night and so on. A regulated process of nature. A matter of course. And yet something special.

Every morning you woke up. Yes, almost a miracle. Considering what the slaves had to do every day. A job that not only caused physical pain, but also emotional pain. Tears in the soul until one breaks in on oneself.

And at some point there is no more pain, because then everything is just routine. You no longer have the strength to feel pain. How paralyzed. Unable to feel anything at all. You get cold.

That is dragged to there and that to there. A slave's daily routine if he was lucky. However, when a slave was unlucky, he had to endure more than physical pain. More than normal pain caused by the 'simple' work of a slave.
Mental torment. Something that finishes off the slaves.

Masters, can do whatever they want with their slaves. So there was something that was not considered abuse, but something 'commonplace'. Rarely did a rich man who owned slaves have someone to act out his fantasies on.
It wasn't punished. Even if anyone found out, it would be treated indifferently. Like air. No matter if he had a wife, husband or children.

Slaves had nothing to say. Rights did not exist for them. They had to do their work in silence and were given their bread of grace. Even if very little, sometimes next to nothing.
Each gentleman had his own rules. But there was something that was equally true everywhere.
Should a slave betray his master in any way, he was immediately hanged. A rule that the prisoners were most afraid of. Because of this, there was hardly ever anyone who tried to escape. If there was someone, however, he was usually caught again before leaving the village. They knew they would be found and the consequence of their disappearance would not be considered merciful.People who were better off than them would never have traded with them. Not even in a dream. Most of the time it was only the slaves whose parents were poor, had none any more or they were themselves, so that they worked hard to get at least something. Or they were tired of life.

"Naruto?"
A man with black hair and piercing yellow eyes yelled at the young slave. It had to be his master.
"Yes, sir?" Replied the blonde head. His gaze was lowered.
"Please look at me when I'm talking to you," hissed the black haired man.
"Yes, sir," he said monotonously. Slowly, as if in slow motion, he raised his head. If you looked closely, you could see a trace of hatred.
"But, Naruto," he sneered. "Who wants to be naughty here?"
"Will never happen again, sir"
Something he would never have said had it not been for his master. How he hated him, Orochimaru. The wrong snake.
His voice hadn't shown a hint of remorse, so the blonde was afraid that his master would not have believed him.
"Well, you can," he laughed. "I'll be waiting for you in my room in the evening," he continued.
When he finished, he walked past the boy without a word. But not idly. He stroked his slave's cheek once. Almost rough. Too coarse.
A hateful look fell on the slave's face. Orochimaru's slaves. Even if he had promised him not to be 'naughty' anymore, he could not hold back his anger and hit a wall next to him.
Nothing moved. He had no more strength. Not physically and certainly not mentally. His thin and, above all, broken clothes. One had to admit that it was soon no longer clothing, but only a few scraps of fabric that covered what was most necessary.

With his head bowed, he turned back to his work.Even if it wasn't joking, it distracted him from what would happen after sunset.
It was probably the same pain as always, and yet he was afraid of them.
But since you couldn't really distract yourself with physical work alone, he began to hum a quiet song.

"Stop humming and work faster," a slave driver yelled at him. It was Kabuto, also known as Orochimaru's right hand. Sometimes the worst curse there was and sometimes he acted like the best friend of the slaves. A puzzle in itself.
Naruto gave him a cold look, stopped humming and kept working, though not much faster than before. But Kabuto let it rest and looked for the next slave to scream at.

When the sun set and the darkness swallowed up all the light of the earth and the people had enough sunlight, Naruto made his way to his master.
He didn't have it as well as most of the other slaves who lived under the care of Orochimaru, who could now go to sleep and forget all the pain of everyday life.
No, he was sent personally by his master to his master, so that he could do him even more pain and suffering than he had to endure now.

He knocked carefully. When he got no answer, he knocked again. This time louder than the time before.
Again no answer. After the third time, when he still got no answer, he opened his master's door in the hope that he would send him away again and just hadn't answered so that he would disappear again. As implausible as it seemed to him. Even that the door wasn't locked seemed strange to him.

But there was nobody there. The room was deserted.
Just as he was about to turn around again, Orochimaru came towards him.
"Hello Naruto"Soo, that's it again ^^
The next chapters will be longer, we promise! But it was only the (short) prologue.
