Black spot in colorful life
The sun's rays were already shining into my room, in which I was still lying and sleeping in silence. Everything still seemed calm, nothing should disturb this calm. But a faint tap could be heard coming up the stairs. Since I had not yet heard this faint noise, I rolled over on my back, yawning, and went on sleeping. The tapping came closer and soon afterwards I felt the bed sink and I was rudely pulled out of my sleep when a heavy Labrador lay on top of me. I gasped softly and tried to push the heavy dog away from me. But the snow-white dog did not give up. Finally I gave up and sank back into the soft mattress. The dog howled softly.
"Yes Yuhiko, I'll go outside with you immediately.", I just grumbled, whereupon the dog got up and jumped off the bed. I slowly got up and first stretched myself extensively. Yuhiko, the white Labrador dog, sat down on my wide carpet and looked at me with her dark eyes. Sleepily I padded past her into the bathroom, looked in the mirror to tame my long, blonde hair. After a few more attempts to look reasonably normal, I finally gave up and went back to my room. The first thing I did was open the window to let in some fresh air. My gaze fell on the big city that opened up before me. They could all be so alive early in the morning, I thought wearily. However, I then went to my closet to dig out a short skirt and a top because it was warm outside. I quickly changed and slipped into my shoes before I turned to Yuhiko. Briefly I stroked her smooth fur on the head.
"Come on, let's go for a walk now.", I said, still slightly sleepy, and the bitch jumped up happily and ran downstairs. My sister, who was only 3 years younger, looked out of her room."Miharu, where are you going?" She asked curiously. Little sisters, I just thought. With everything you have to ask.
"Go for a walk with Yuhiko.", I replied tiredly and went down the stairs, followed by my sister Miu.
"Mom and Dad left this morning because they have an important appointment," she told me immediately. It was clear again, I just thought. They always drove away or had important appointments. Even on days when the family should be together. But it didn't bother me anymore because I was already used to it. I was just glad my sister was old enough that I no longer had to take care of her.
"When are you coming back?" I asked now, even if I wasn't particularly interested.
"Probably tonight, they said.", Miu replied and sat down at the table in the kitchen, watching as I grabbed Yuhiko's leash. I said goodbye to my little sister briefly before going outside, followed by a delighted dog. I didn't put Yuhiko on the leash because he obeyed my word, but I always took the leash with me in emergencies. I got it when I was little and now the bitch was my best friend. For some it is strange to call a dog that or to give it such a high priority. But for me she was the person who stayed with me all my life.
I watched Yuhiko jump on a small wall and walk along it. I silently enjoyed the fresh air and the peace. I loved going for a walk with her because then I always had time for myself to reflect and find peace. It was just a relief from the stress of everyday life. And I've only had that in this big city since I moved about two weeks ago. Before that we lived in a small, manageable village in Japan. I found a small, idyllic place. But my parents got a promotion in their jobs and we just moved to the big city of Tokyo.Fortunately, there was a large park near our house that I loved to go for a walk with Yuhiko.
I watched the bitch chase a bird and now sat down on a nice, sunny bench. I looked silently at the cherry trees that were in bloom at this time of year. I thought it was a nice time of year. This park was probably one of the few quiet places in Tokyo, even if I hadn't seen much of the city yet. I also enjoyed strolling through the streets, but I didn't like crowds that much. But somehow today I wanted to take a stroll through Tokyo with Yuhiko, just take a look at the city.
The bitch came running up to me shortly afterwards and I stroked her lovingly.
"Come on Yuhiko, I don't feel like going home yet and being claimed by Miu. So let's walk a little through the city." Immediately the bitch wagged her tail and looked at me with faithful eyes. I smiled slightly and stroked her soft fur again before I got up and headed for the center of town. My pet followed me well.
As I expected, the city was full of people hurrying through the streets. A hectic city, it just crossed my mind. Yuhiko seemed to feel the same way, because she eyed people suspiciously.
"Come on," I said quietly to her and walked with her for a while. The city was actually beautiful, there were many colorful shops where you could certainly buy a lot of great things. Every now and then you saw a bar, including karaoke bars, where a few people were standing and having fun. I laughed softly and went on. A group of youngsters, probably Mius's age, I thought, gathered around a brightly colored stand selling ice cream and cotton candy. A short time later, however, my gaze fell on something that didn't quite fit into this colorful and happy hustle and bustle. Five dark-clad teenagers with bizarre hairstyles had met at a fountain in the middle of this little square. My first thought was that they didn't seem to have a home because some of their clothes looked a bit tattered. In fact, my thought didn't seem entirely wrong either. One of them was sitting on the edge of the fountain, a boy perhaps my age, surrounded by two other girls who both seemed to be into him. I shook my head slightly and my eyes wandered to the other two guys in the gang, who were sitting a little further away from the other three and apparently were talking about something. As terrifying as they looked and destroyed this image of the beautiful city, I couldn't help but feel a little pity for them. They apparently had little money, apart from the fact that they probably lived on the streets.
I quickly averted my gaze, not wanting to keep buzzing in these gloomy thoughts, and went to a stand where jewelry was sold. A little curious, I stepped closer, taking my eyes off my dog for a moment, but I thought she would stay with me. Unfortunately I was wrong because when I turned back, she was gone.
"Yuhiko?" I called a little confused and looked around, but couldn't see the white Labrador anywhere. I quickly looked for her, but couldn't find her. However, as I walked around the fountain, I suddenly saw her again. My eyes fell on the boy who had crouched in front of her and was now caressing her. The bitch only wagged her tail happily. I went to her in a hurry.
"Yuhiko." I said a little relieved. Immediately the boy looked up and I recognized the one from before, who was sitting between the two girls on the fountain.
"Is that your dog?" He asked, looking at me with his brown eyes. I nodded quickly and looked at him. He smiled slightly and stroked Yuhiko's head again before standing up.
"You should keep your dog on a leash. In a city like this, it can disappear quickly.", he just said. Know-it-alls, it only crossed my mind and slightly offended I looked at him.
"Yes, I know. Thanks for holding him anyway," I said quickly. I finally had to say thank you.
"No problem.", The boy said and looked at me while I returned his gaze. There was silence for a while, but it was quickly broken.
"My name is Minami," he introduced himself. I just nodded, actually not really wanting to get to know him. Even if it was wrong to judge people by their appearance, I couldn't help it with him. He wasn't bad-looking, which probably explained why those two girls were so stuck on him earlier, but that also made me think that he was someone who only looked at girls as objects. Just wanted to get her in the box and feel great because he had two girls.
I'd better stop my thoughts, I admonished myself. You don't even know him.
This boy stared at me the whole time, apparently waiting for an answer, which I lost in my thoughts but didn't deliver. He laughed easily.
"And what's your name?" He wanted to know.
"Miharu.", I replied quickly while I put my dog on the leash and pulled her to me. “Thanks again for my dog.” I didn't know why, but after my thoughts I just wanted to leave. This boy, Minami, had a kind of negative aura, I thought. Strange but I didn't feel comfortable with him. So I turned away without further ado and wanted to go, just left him there. I could feel his grin on my back.
"Nice to meet you.", He called after me and I stopped to turn around briefly and look at him. He briefly raised his hand as a goodbye and then went back to his girls without even looking at me. I shook my head slightly.Show-off, I just thought, for whatever reason. Then I turned back to go.
"Let's go home, Yuhiko, I don't feel like it anymore." I said quietly to my dog, who was already sniffing the floor. I slowly made my way home through the quiet park, entering the house a little in thought.
"There you are again, Miharu.", Miu greeted me immediately. I nodded slightly and ran a hand through her hair in greeting, then went to my room followed by Yuhiko. Immediately I let the dog off the leash and threw her on my desk, then threw myself on my bed. I sighed softly and thought about earlier.
This boy was weird, I just thought. But also kind of ... interesting? That was absurd. Why should I find it interesting? I didn't even know him. But was that what attracted me? He led a different life than me, had a completely different approach to life. Who knows what he's been through in his life. What he had already experienced.
And so I began to wonder what must have happened to this boy that he lived on the street. But I never got to a point.
"Minami ..." I briefly mumbled his name. Even if I'm not supposed to be interested in him, I even remembered his name.
