Fanfic: White Shadow
Chapter: Konoha's new Ge-Nins!
° Rin's view °
Here I come!
I would have said that or something like that if I had grown up normally ... but that was not the case.
It was a day like any other, nothing special to be seen. But one thing was different than usual. It was a different feeling. A kind of anticipation ... but for what?
* Kage… do you know what I'm looking forward to? *, I now turned to my friend.
* Maybe you're looking forward to seeing Naruto again? A happy, energetic boy who is great to have fun with, don't you think? *
*Might be. Actually, I like him quite well. Maybe we will become friends? *
* Oho! Look at it! The good old White Shadow befriends an annoying bundle of energy? Does that suit you *
* First, YOU said I was looking forward to seeing him, and second, I don't have to trust him completely. It's enough if I get along with him. *
*If you think. Have fun smuggling you through life unnoticed. If a killer can go unnoticed at all ... *
I ignored his nasty manner and changed my clothes, getting ready. A broadsword still shouldered and I was done, I didn't need any more equipment. My first opponents wouldn't have been worth experiencing my true fighting style anyway.
The way to the academy was short, but it still seemed infinitely long and uninteresting to me. The joy was all the greater when I finally stood in front of the door to the classroom. With my everyday unimpressed expression on my face, I pushed open the heavy door and strode down the corridor until an all too familiar voice rang out.
"Hey, Rin! Sit down next to me! There's still a place available here!"
I couldn't help smiling when I saw Naruto's beaming face. With that smile I went to the seat next to him and sat down.
"Excited?" He immediately began to ask.
"No, not really," I answered honestly.
"Why not? This will decide who we go on missions with in the near future! I'm really nervous ... "
"You know ... if you were me, you'd understand why I'm not excited or nervous. If you were me, you wouldn't care what would happen at all ..."
My gaze was fixed on the table surface in front of me. Naruto looked at me confused.
"Why?" He then asked his question.
"Right feelings are so ... useless when you have nothing in your life to live for."
"Hey, you have me! And everyone else here! And soon a new team too!"
I remained silent, it made no sense for me to answer. Of course, Naruto was kind of a friend. But I didn't really have to trust him either. I didn't have to show him my true feelings ... I would never show them to anyone again ... except maybe Kage. But he wasn't human anyway.
* HEY! I heard the thought! *, it now echoed in my head and I winced in shock.
"Is something?" The blond-haired man answered immediately.
* Great job, Kage! *, I pimped my friend in thought before I answered.
"Yeah! Oh, uh, of course I mean no! No, it's nothing. Let's better be careful what team we're on!"
"Of course! Ohhh, I'm so happy!"
* I would never have thought that you would befriend such a bundle of energy. No honestly, THAT? *
* Oh be quiet, he should have fun in his life. *
I put on a forced smile and now concentrated on the teacher who was standing in front of the blackboard.
Finally, finally he started to speak and finally let Naruto fall silent.
"The team division for the future Ge-Nin are as follows ..."
My ears overheard everything he said until Teacher paused for a moment.
"Well, something like that! I've never experienced anything like this ... We have a team of four!", The man made a very surprised face and stared in my direction.* What does he have? *
The pile of papers he leafed through rustled. He paused and looked at what he had written again.
"Well ... the next team ... will be made of ... uh ... The next team will be made up of ... Haruna Sakura."
A girl who was dressed in red and had pink hair listened up.
"Uzumaki Naruto."
Naruto let out a cry of joy, with the girl, who apparently was Sakura, sagging her shoulders sadly.
"Uchiha Sasuke."
Naruto stared at the teacher in confusion and his expression darkened. Now Sakura let out a cry of joy. A dark-haired boy bowed his head, probably this Sasuke.
"And ... the last one is ... uh ... can that be true? There's no real name here! Just ... Rin."
I looked at the teacher.
"That's my name. It's a real name. You needn't care about my real one."
The man gave me a blank look, Naruto smiled.
"That means we're on a team!" He began again.
"Yes ... it seems so."
I turned my gaze back to the blackboard and stared at the teacher again.
"Well ... in any case, Team 7 consists of Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke and ... Rin.", He confirmed himself again and then continued.
Again, I didn't listen and just waited until he was finished. It's good that I noticed in good time how the others were leaving the room, otherwise I would probably have stayed here for hours and would have wondered why all this never ends.
"It's nice that you are on the same team as me ... but Sasuke could have left them out! We only need three anyway! Always this Uchiha ... I don't like him!", The blonde talked to me again. That he didn't make up his mind all the time was a mystery to me.
"Uchiha ... Isn't that the family with the Sharingan? Or rather, wasn't that the family with the Sharingan?" I asked attentively."Yes! And how he will probably brag about it! Uh! Look here, I'm Uchiha Sasuke and I have mastered Sharingan! Without this ability he wouldn't be so popular."
"Well, it's a very helpful skill ... and that's why I don't understand why there are four of us on a team."
"There was probably no other team in which one of us could be put. But that's even better! There won't be as much action as expected," the pink-haired woman suddenly objected.
I stared at her with cool eyes and felt a shiver run down her spine. Anxiety. Before me. But that didn't matter, I didn't want to go into that.
"But I want action!", Naruto's voice could be heard again.
"How about if I only help you in an emergency? That way you have enough action and I have something to do from time to time." I remarked calmly.
"That would be unfair! I would say we just fight. It doesn't matter if there are four or three. I will somehow come to terms with it, Rin ...", Naruto ended our conversation. After that we just walked the streets in silence until we finally parted and returned to our houses. A cool, light wind played around the city. It won't be long before I would be on my first mission. Hopefully it wasn't too easy ... and hopefully we didn't have to babysit.
* Ugh, babies. Small, disgusting nuisances! How can you like something like that? *
* I think women who have a baby don't love the ... uh ... shape, but rather the thought of having proof of their husbands love. *
* Philosophically, but how do you want to know? You're just a demon! *
* I don't know either! I just believe it, and by the way, I've been in this world for so long, I know the people! Well, it may be that they not only love the thought, but also find their appearance cute, but normally it is!How did you get the idea to babysit? *
For a moment there was silence in my head. Love ... most men cheat on their wives. So why still trust?
* It could be part of one of our missions! And I'd be kind of ... afraid of that. *
* The big killer is afraid of small children. What do you say about it? So you're just human too! *
* Oh, shut your damn mouth! I don't want to hear another word from you today! Transformation or not, you are quiet now! I just want my own thoughts too. *
That calm again. But this time it was not interrupted, Kage stuck to my words ... Proof of friendship?
* Thank you ... you know that sometimes I just want my peace and quiet ... you know that I don't mean it that hard. *
It was a long time before I heard a strange voice in my head again.
*Yes.*
It was nothing more than that. A simple 'yes'. No long sermons, it would be rude to hiss at someone like that, no sad, hurt undertone, not even a hint of anger. Kage really seemed to understand which, as always, I was pretty grateful for. Yes, it's annoying to have to share your thoughts all the time and never have your privacy. Even if on the outside it seems like you are the absolute loner. But it can be nice to have at least one who can understand. It hurt me not to be close to any of my own familiar species, but at least Kage was a small consolation. Looked at that way, he was actually quite a comfort, but who would notice if he didn't understand his own feelings? All I knew was that I was alive and that Kage was my friend. And the next thing I knew was that someday I would die and it would all be over. What good were feelings there?
The sun beat down mercilessly on Konohagakure as passers-by disappeared into their homes to escape the heat.It was one of those typically mercilessly hot midsummer days, even though we had actually been in autumn a long time. Apparently the weather didn't want that to happen.
Bored, I let out a deep sigh and wondered what I could do. It was a bit confusing not to have a person to talk to, but it was a nice change.
Tomorrow morning we should meet our future sensei for the first time. Until then, there was still plenty of time that didn't seem to think about passing faster.
Training in this heat would have been unthinkable, it would be pure suicide. So what could i do?
Well, I didn't have much choice. Painting, writing, polishing weapons ... what else? Tidying up the room, cleaning, practicing cooking? The latter has already been dropped. Why practice cooking when you ate so seldom anyway?
What to do?
Gradually the thought began to really torment me. Gradually the boredom got really too big.
I was beginning to really miss talking to Kage ...
* Kage ... talk to me ... please ... * I asked in a soft voice.
* No. *, it came just barely and callously from him.
*What is
