Chapter: A prologue to grief

"Why?",
a question I've been asking myself for a few days now. I was still young and maybe I couldn't really understand her at all. And even though I found enough food, it gnawed at me. This unshakable question that would decide my future life.
"Why was I left alone ...?"
it practically ate up my memory. One of those merciless questions that only come up a few times in a lifetime. On the one hand it meant nothing ... and on the other it meant everything. You gave me everything, raised and taught me. And now you disappear from my life and leave me alone? You have answered all the questions I have ever asked, why the sky is blue, what the day and night change is all about, but now you have left me alone and left my last question unanswered.
