Chapter 5 - The Shinigami Trial
The five girls who were sitting in the conference room of the Shinigami Academy not so long ago were all running in one direction. It wasn't hard to guess which one it was since one of them was missing and they had big news for them. They were on their way to see Usagi, who stayed away from school because of the death of her brother. When they got to her front door, Hikari knocked on her door several times. "Usagi !! Are you home? Open the door!" Hikari called out quite loudly so that Usagi had to hear it. After a long knock and several minutes later, a young woman who looked very sleepy opened the door. "What do you want?" she asked a little harshly. "Well ... well ..." Hikari looked at her but couldn't say anything. "Usagi, Yamamoto told us we can stay in the academy," Yoko said. "And that's why you're getting me out of my bed?" she asked. "No! Usagi, we have to take the Shinigami exam on Friday. If we don't make it though, we are never allowed to visit the Shinigami Academy again!" explained Sora. Usagi looked at her. "And why should I care?" everyone looked at her in astonishment. They had already expected that Usagi would not be particularly interested in it. But that she didn't care as much as you heard it from her voice was quite a shock for everyone present. But Evolet was the first to take up the word and knew how to convince Usagi. She looked at the others and then started talking, hoping everyone would join in. "Why? Because you can hunt those who killed your brother." Usagi looked at Evolet. She liked the thought of revenge. "And further?" she asked. Evolet noticed she liked the idea, so she carried on. "Also, if you get strong enough, you can fight Byakuya. Everyone knows you're mad at him." She looked at Usagi. This thought. The others also looked at Usagi, but noticed that Evolet had everything under control. "And what do you say?" asked Yoko. Usagi nodded. "The exam is on Friday, right?" Usagi asked with a nasty grin, as she was already thinking about her goals. She wanted revenge on those who killed her brother and revenge on Byakuya. To do this, it has to get stronger and stronger. That was their goal. "Good. Then we have to accelerate a lot. At least some of us ..." Yoko said with a subliminal tone in the direction of Sora and Vio. They scratched the back of their heads, embarrassed. "Yeah ... you're right. But we can do it, right Vio?" Vio grinned. "It's clear!" she said. Usagi didn't say anything but was still thinking. "Then make an effort. See you on Friday!" she said and then went to her house. The others were relieved that Usagi now has a new goal and is not sitting around in mourning alone at home. So the others set off. Each to their own home. At least almost. Because April went to Yoko to study with her. Sora and Evolet also decided to study together. They hoped Hisagi and Sousuke had time too. Hikari went to Toushiro because he could always help her learn.
The next few days passed quickly. Everyone was busy getting as much material into their brains as possible. Especially Vio and Sora. Both were mediocre over the year, although both are very intelligent. If only it weren't for this cruel laziness and the temptation to do something with the men who secretly adore them. Yes, it was like that. Still in secret. Vio hadn't spoken to Hisagi since the kiss. However, he had not yet addressed this issue. Vio was distracted by all the learning material and Hisagi wanted to help her there. They could talk later too.
Sora, on the other hand, even made progress in studying with Sousuke. They spent every day together, especially since she told Sousuke that she had to take the exam on Friday. He even spoke to his captain, Shinji Hirako, who agreed that Sousuke could spend more time with her. Jushiro had also told Sora what had happened and that the exam was soon to be. But when he offered her to help, she politely denied, as Sousuke took extra time for her. So they sat together late into the night every evening and grew closer and closer. Tonight Sora accidentally stumbled with two glasses, but Sousuke caught her. Even if the glasses fell to the floor, she was in Sousuke's arms, which was her real goal. At that moment, it seemed to Sora as if time was standing still. Their faces got closer and closer, but then the doorbell rang and an angry Hikari stormed inside. Sousuke still held Sora in his arms and both looked at Hikari in amazement. She looked just as confused at the two and after a few silent seconds the doorbell rang. "Oh no ... I didn't mean to disturb you, so I mean ... whatever you're doing." Sora blushed slightly and embarrassed. Sousuke also had a slight, barely noticeable shimmer of red. Then he let go of her gently. "It's okay, Hikari. Is everything okay?" Suddenly Hikari remembered the reason why she went to Sora and suddenly became red and hectic again. "Yeah Sora I have to talk to you !! Do you have time?" Sora nodded. "Sure. Come with me, we'll go into the next room." She said and threw Sousuke a smiling look at who said something like 'I'll be right back'.
In the next room Sora closed the door and it gushed out of Hikari. "I think I fell in love!" she said horrified.Sora recognized the undertone and asked. "And why are you so horrified about that?" Hikari looked at her. "Because it ... Because it ..." she couldn't get the lucky one out, at least Sora thought so. "... Because it's Toushiro?" asked Sora. Hikari looked embarrassed. “How do you know that?” Sora had to laugh a little. "Why are you laughing?" Hikari asked further. "Sweet ... it was clear that you fell in love with Toushiro. You are with him almost every day and besides, you only talk about him and then you always have a twinkle in your eyes." Sora said decisively. Hikari blushed a little. “Do the others know that too?” Sora nodded. "Sure! We know you Hikari." Hikari sighed. "What should I do now? How do you tell Sousuke?" Sora immediately went to Hikari and put a finger to her mouth. "Psssst !! Hikari ... not so loud. At the end he hears something!" Hikari was very surprised by the otherwise so self-confident Sorana. "What's happening?" she asked. "I don't know how to tell him. There are always approaches like before, but ... it doesn't get any further." She said a little desperately. Hikari looked at her. "Then we both take a goal!" she said. "And which one?" "The day we do our final exam, we'll tell you. Oke?" Sorana looked at her. “But that's already morning!” Hikari nodded, embarrassed. "I know ..." Sora nodded. "OK, agreed!" she said. Then she and Hikari left the room and Hikari said goodbye to the two of them and then went to study for tomorrow's crucial exam.
Yoko sat at the desk with April and both studied the entire time. In between they came to the conclusion that they missed Usagi. The three of them were an unbeatable team, but now they understood it too when Usagi wanted to be at home and wanted to have some peace and quiet. But then the doorbell rang. April gave Yoko a look that indicated that she should go to the door. At that, Yoko sighed and reluctantly went to the door. But the reluctance evaporated when she saw the person standing in the doorway. “Usagi?” She nodded. "Yes." Said this. "Are you okay?" Usagi only nodded because she didn't really want to go into it. "Does the learning community still exist?" she asked shortly. Yoko nodded. "April is in the study ..." she only said while Usagi was already on the way. Yoko watched her go and closed the door. "It's kind of weird ... well, no wonder." Yoko said to herself before following her friend. April, who was sitting in the study and going through her documents, was a bit surprised when Usagi's showed up, but was happy that the three were together again. So nobody could prevent that they would pass the exam tomorrow.
The next night passed quickly. Too fast for one or the other. Because the Six Women couldn't sleep together, but learned through.Sousuke tried very hard to stay awake, as did Hisagi and Toushiro, who were studying with Vio and Hikari. But the girls kept waking her up, no matter what methods. Although Vio's methods were not always humane. If you consider what is often going on in Vio's head. April, Yoko and Usagi had fewer problems. They had no one to distract them. Not even herself. Each of them had their own motivations. Usagi wanted revenge, April wanted to show the others and Yoko wanted to be the best. That was enough to stay awake during the night and finally to have the material ready in the morning. "And is everything right?" asked Yoko. April and Usagi nodded. “It'll be easy today,” April said and Usagi agreed. An hour before the exam, the three of them set off.
Sora kept waking up on Sousuke 2 hours ago and decided to leave him alone. She too left home an hour before the exam was due to start. But before that, she woke Sousuke again. "Hey ... good morning! I'll go now, oke? I'll see you later." She said to him and wanted to be on the way. "Sora!" he said with a very sleepy look. "You can do it. I'll see you again after the exam and then you're a Shinigami." He smiled at her. Sora nodded confidently and then left the house.
Hisagi hadn't turned a blind eye the whole time and had several bruises and a few red pinches on his face, which only give an idea of Vio's methods. "Oke. I'll go then. I'll meet Sora right away at the intersection." She said confidently. Hisagi was leaning against the living room table and his eyelids were almost falling shut. He looked at Vio. "You can do the sweet thing, I know that." Vio blushed a little and smiled at him again before she left.
She met Sora at the intersection as agreed. She came up to her with a smile. "Morning Vio." She
