Chapter: The first suspicion

Chapter 6 - The First Suspicion

A few months had passed when the Six Friends were each assigned to a division and started serving as Shinigami. Sora, Yoko and Usagi were together in the 5th division. They didn't see each other that often, however, as each of them was constantly on missions. Yoko was of course very ambitious and volunteered for many missions. She wanted to get stronger to show her rival Sousuke Aizen. Usagi, however, made more and more enemies in the division. Since her brother was murdered by strangers while trying to protect the youth of the Kuchiki clan, her character has changed radically. She was generally cold and dismissive to everyone, which made her very unpopular with many. Shinji noticed, of course, and watched Usagi for a while. He knew there had to be some reason why she was reacting this way. Sora, however, loved the time in the 5th division. She loved to spend time with her boyfriend Sousuke and by the way she became closer and closer friends with Shinji, because she now saw through him well and didn't fall for his games. She didn't go on missions as often as Yoko, but neither on as few as Usagi.

April thought the people in the 4th division were nice and actually felt at home there, but a dilemma developed in her. She finally wanted to go on a mission and really fight, but that didn't happen in this division. That was exactly the problem that was slowly bothering her. Fortunately for her, her captain, Retsu Unohana, noticed that too. Because of this, she wanted to talk to her new, young member. She just waited for a suitable moment and still had to clear a few formalities.

Vio, on the other hand, found it very pleasant in the 8th division. Captain Kyoraku was mostly relaxed and this affected the entire life in the division. There was only one thing that bothered Vio. It had nothing to do with the division, but with their private life. Hisagi had said goodbye to her for two months and never came back. Why did he do that? She didn't really know herself. He couldn't tell her then either, he just said that it was personal and had nothing to do with her. But for Vio, the waiting time was soon over. She had set a limit on how long she would wait for Hisagi to come back. That time would be up in a week. But Vio didn't think about finally forgetting him, she wanted to look for him. She just had to somehow teach her captain how to do it.

Hikari feels like the happiest woman in the world because she was a member of Toushiro's division. The only thing missing now was happiness with Toushiro.However, it would be a long time before she could tell him how she felt about him. She was just too scared to confess her feelings to him. So she tried to spend as much time with him as possible and helped him and Matsumoto wherever she could to cope with all the paperwork.

Today was a really warm summer day. If you observed the people closer you could see exactly how small beads of sweat formed on their foreheads. It was midsummer and accordingly there were also very high temperatures. But today it was extraordinarily hot. You'd think there weren't any heat waves in Soul Society, but that's exactly what happened. Sora was sitting far away from Sereitei in a meadow that gave the impression that she hadn't been cut for a long time. It was afternoon and Shinji had given her today off. Why did she not know, because Sousuke had to deal with all the paperwork that had accrued in the past few weeks. She could only guess what Shinji would do in the meantime. Her other friends didn't have time either. Either they were on missions or they had to do something else. So Sora stayed in the meadow and watched the clouds that were scattered in the sky and enjoyed the gentle fresh breeze that occasionally blew across the meadow. But the calm she just had shouldn't last long when someone appeared at her place. "Here you are. I've been looking for you everywhere." Someone leaned over and Sora opened her eyes to see who they were. "Shinji? What are you doing here? Don't you have to work?" she asked her captain, a little surprised. He leaned back up and sat down next to her in the meadow. “I thought I would take this afternoon off. Sousuke can do the work alone.” Sitting in the meadow, he watched the stalks move back and forth in the wind. "Why this afternoon?" asked Sora. “What do you mean by that?” Sora was still lying in the meadow and looking at the sky. "The afternoon when I'm free too? I think there is something else behind it." "I know why I brought you to my division." Now Sora also sat up. "You brought me into your division? I thought it was going to be determined from above." Shinji nodded. "It will. However, there was a reason why I wanted you in my division." Sora still didn't understand what Shinji was talking about. “And what is the reason?” Shinji sighed deeply. Sorana had grown very dear to his heart in the last few months, even if he would never really admit it as captain. But could he just tell her what the reason was? It was just a suspicion, after all. "Shinji? What's wrong?" she asked him again. "It's not that easy. I hope you don't get it wrong now what I'm going to tell you." "Oke, now I'm really interested."" I should go on missions less if I have so much paperwork to do each time afterwards." Then she made a quick look to the left and sighed even more. In her opinion, the pile of 'To Do' pieces of paper kept getting bigger and bigger. Most of all, she would like to do other activities. At least the tears in her eyes would have given Vio the reason to do so, because since she knew Sora she had never seen her cry. She knew she was actually a strong person, so something bad must have happened to her. "What happened Sora?" she asked in a seldom heard soft and calm voice. "Do you have time?" was Sora's against question. Vio got up. "Of course, let's go somewhere else. We don't have enough space here."

Yoko was just arriving at her division. She was very happy with herself because she was home earlier than planned. "That should show Captain Hirako that I am better than Sousuke." She was happy and then went for a short walk around the area to enjoy the late afternoon and the sounds of nature. Then she saw her captain who apparently had just come from an excursion himself. "Captain Hirako! I finished my mission, everything went well!" she said to him. At first she didn't know what to think of Shinji as captain, but she quickly realized that he was promoting her. He realized that she was very talented and motivated and encouraged her to get better quickly. She liked that about him. “Well done.” He turned and tried to look as casual as ever. But Yoko had good knowledge of people and knew that something depressed him. But she didn't want to appear pushy and let him go without asking. So she
