The next morning dragged on. Blacktail did not lead the patrol, but Moonskin. What Frost Claw was even happier about, hawk-eye was also there and that without a glossy tail. There were also Stormpaw and Snowpaw with them. The five were walking along a small stream. The air was icy, which Frostfell could feel through her thick fur. Leaf fall was almost over and prey was becoming scarce. Without a word, the wolves strode towards the boundary of the two species. A scrutinizing look over the shoulder and a quick sniff revealed that no one had followed. > Don't forget, we're only here to patrol. There won't be a fight when the bloodsuckers show up! <instructed Hawk Eye to the students. Snowpaw looked wide-eyed at her mentor> What if they attack us? <A legitimate question the little she-wolf asked. This time Moonfell replied, 'Then you run into the camp and get help. We can't win alone and you haven't seen enough moons to fight a bloodsucker. <The students nodded and remained silent. The air crackled in this auspicious silence. Suddenly a branch cracked on the other side of the two-legged path. Shadowy siluettes could be seen. > There they are! I recognize their stench, "hissed hawk-eye softly," It must be the same as yesterday ... "Frostclaw recognized that there were three men. They had to come from the guard because they wore helmets and swords. Frostclaw gritted her teeth, but when she wanted to say something there was a scream and the three men rushed towards the wolves. > Run Stormpaw and Snowpaw! Get the others! <shouted Frostclaw and she was aware that she wasn't actually authorized to do so. But at the moment they had other things to do. The white she-wolf stormed onto the Zweernerweg and threw herself on one of the men. A tall man with blonde hair and blue eyes. Overwhelmed by the attack, the man fell to the ground and struck Frostclaw with his sword. This dodged playfully and jumped back so that the enemy could line up. The blonde straightened up and said, 'I didn't expect that now. You don't run away like your friends, why? Aren't you afraid of getting wounded? <with his ice-blue eyes he looked intently at Frostclaw. They were the same as the hawk eye she found. > If your swords are your own weapons, I don't have to be afraid. And are all of your people so easy to surprise, why run away then? <replied Frostclaw. The howling of other wolves could be heard in the distance. The men looked at each other. Then one said he had long black hair and brown eyes> Let's go, Reece, Jake, come on. <Then he turned and left. > Come on Tanjus! <Reece followed Tanjus and Jake looked at Frostclaw again. The she-wolf growled "Don't you want to go?" <Jake smiled.Oddly enough, Frostclaw liked that smile. Then Jake was gone too, and Frostclaw was gone. Behind her, hawk-eye, moon-fur, glossy tail, white-footed and black-tailed rushed out of the bushes. They looked at Frostclaw in disbelief, black-tailed in particular gave them a particularly disdainful look. > Where did you go? 'asked Frostclaw's sister Glosstail. > You are gone. Frostclaw replied briefly without losing sight of the bloodsucker's territory. then she turned around silently and walked past the others. > Come on, we have to report to Goldsten. <she just said and walked on. The group was silent on the way. When the hawk's eye caught up with Frostclaw, she felt a pleasant prickle on her neck. > Why didn't he attack? the big wolf wanted to know. Frostclaw was silent. > Listen, you can talk to me. I don't blame you like others here. <Hawk Eye glanced furtively at Blacktail, who had Frostclaw firmly in view. > It's not because of him or because of anyone who wants to blame me! <All of a sudden, Frostclaw felt a deep anger at himself. Why hadn't she acted instead of just staring at her enemy? When she arrived at the camp, she saw Goldstern and Moospelz sitting on the big tree stump and talking. > I will go to Goldstern with Frost Claw. <Frostclaw looked at Hawk Eye in amazement. Then she noticed her sister's jealous look and secretly, Frostclaw liked the way Glossfur got upset. When frost claw and hawk eye came, gold star and moss fur also stood up. > Again? <asked Goldstern who apparently knew about it. > But this time they didn't hurt anyone. <reported Frostclaw. > But only because you got some crazy furball in your way and someone tripped over you. <giggled Hawk Eye, whereupon Frostclaw hissed indignantly> Mouse brain! <> Quiet! <The two winced as Goldstern gradually became impatient and his eyes sprayed cold fire> You attacked them. Frostclaw? How do you come up with such a crazy idea? You just have to have mice in your brain! <Frostclaw was not prepared for this outburst of anger and so she became noticeably smaller. > But gold star. Maybe we should fight back more often! They withdrew voluntarily when we came. Maybe that's what you don't expect! protested the young warrior. Goldstern cooked but said nothing and so Moospelz spoke up: "Everything went well and in future we will have to be more careful. You two can go. Eat something, rest. <Then the moss fur and gold star disappeared into the leader's den.
