The tower between the kingdoms

A long, long time ago, behind mighty mountains, existed two kingdoms, very, veryfar apart. They saw each other as rivals, to this day it is not clear why ...

To the left was the Kingdom of the West; the area that belonged to the king called Game-Place. Peace reigned here since the beginning of time, and above all the gambling addiction. This is where the popular and well-known game Duel Monsters was invented. King Muto was enthroned in the Game Place Castle, together with his grandson, Prince Yami.To the right, miles and miles away, was an area called Electronic Land, subjugated by King Kaiba. The motto here was "Only the best survived!" Otherwise it was actually a quite peaceful area, known for the invention of the widespread Duel Disk, and other electronic-virtual things ... The king, a rather quiet, lonely, and slightly power-hungry young guy, was - so everyone thought - so strange because his daughter has been kidnapped for ages.

Between these two kingdoms, almost exactly in the middle, stretched a tower, but the area around it was no longer one of the kingdoms and looked too furtive for anyone to venture into.

The huge red and gold sphere appeared on the horizon far beyond the woods and bathed the area in a beautiful pink. The first birds chirped their most beautiful songs to wake up the inhabitants of the towering castle on the hill, surrounded by trees. The king, a short, now gray-haired, old man with strangely jagged strands on his head, awoke from his deep sleep and greeted the whole Game Place area with a loud morning call.

"Where's my grandson?" He asked during breakfast.

"Well ... well ... I couldn't find him anywhere in his room ..." a guard said, embarrassed.

Far behind the Game Place Kingdom, through the thick undergrowth and between the countless trees, in a spacious clearing, stood a boy with a spiky, red-black, protruding head and four long, blonde, pointed, kinked strands, each closed second around his face. He - oh yes, and not to forget the three strands that were still sticking along his black and red hair in different directions - grinned and lifted his strange triangular high-tech frame that hung on his arm and put one up Card on one of the five fields.

"Curse of the Dragon!"A huge, yellowish something resembling a dragon skeleton appeared out of nowhere and he mounted it.

Flying through the air, Prince Yami looked over the trees, plants, rivers, stones that stood miles from the kingdom. For the fifth time that week he had escaped from home and entered the forbidden area that his grandfather had forbidden him to enter.

The previous day he had discovered a long tower in the distance in the middle of a distant forest, but it had been too late to explore it.

After less than an hour he saw him emerge from among the trees. When he flew closer, he realized that it was much, much higher than he had imagined.

He stood there in a shabby state, twice as long as any tree in the forest, and covered with a layer of green moss, and at the very bottom Prince Yami saw a thick hedge of thorns growing around the tower.

He asked his curse of the dragon to turn around the tower and discovered a shabby, but large, square window.A girl was standing in there with shoulder-length brown hair, her head resting on her arms crossed on the windowsill, and looking bored.

She didn't seem to have noticed him at all and to make his presence clear, Prince Yami wanted to say something, but he couldn't even make a small sound when he heard the clatter of hooves below. The girl seemed to have noticed too, she looked down with a tired look.

Prince Yami turned and let his curse of the dragon slide down. Until the first tree tops were within reach, he elegantly jumped off his kite and landed unharmed on the lawn. His dragon dissolved into a bright light.

The pounding of hooves, which was still evident until recently, suddenly stopped, and Yami looked around the tree behind which he had been hiding. A horse stopped just before the thorn hedge and a person wrapped in a dark robe dismounted from him. She wore a hood that hung low over her face, so Yami couldn't see her.Determined, but also a bit annoyed, she strode through the dense thorn bush, where she let out a little scream from her.

"Who came up with the hollow funnel to plant a hedge of thorns here?" Marik cursed to himself.

He fell panting against the tower when he finally managed to get through to it. While he let himself down on the uneven surface of the tower next to the countless bricks, a grin crossed his face. He straightened up again and took an umbrella from his robe.

"Now I'm prepared ..." he muttered, looking up as the umbrella opened over his head, as if expecting precipitation.

"Oh Tea, oh Tea, lower a rope!" He called up.

There was silence, as if she hadn't heard him, but then ... there was a brief hiss that resembled the falling of a brick.

"You can wait a long time for that," Tea said.

Marik put his umbrella protectively over his head and the brick ricocheted off."There is nothing more you can do about it!" He laughed upwards. "Now I have the ultimate weapon!"

"An umbrella ...? How interesting," said Tea, dropping ten bricks in a flash.

"Wha- ?! - Aah! - Oops! - Good-natured! - Close! - ... - Phew", Marik huffed when he had more or less skilfully avoided the last brick.

He let himself sink back to the floor and wiped the sweat from his face.

>> ZISCH <<

"Ouch...", he couldn't manage more.

He got up abruptly and looked angrily up at the tower window.

"You conceited, stupid goat! What are you going to do to mess me up after all I've done for you!"

"Oh, thank you very much for letting me spend my life in this rat hole, I'm honored!" She yelled at him.

"You're welcome," said Marik with an amused grin on his face, to which he received another brick in response.

"You ... didn't want it any other way!Now I'm fed up! "

Marik took out his Duel Disk, as this rack was called, and was about to place a card when five more bricks pelted down from the sky.

"Damn - can you - stop too?" He said, getting annoyed to avoid them. "That's -AAAAAH!"

He stared in horror at his Duel Disk, half of which had broken when a stone was struck.

"What - what - how - but -NO!!!!!" he shouted. "Do you know how hard it is to get these parts?!?!?!?!", He yelled at her.

"No," said Tea coolly.

"Ooooooh!", furious he pulled away, he didn't even seem to notice the annoying hedge of thorns that he was constantly forced to cross.

Meanwhile the prince had looked at everything with wide eyes. He wasn't quite so sure now whether he should really show himself to be there, but he also felt sorry for her.

He again placed his Curse of the Dragon on a field of his Duel Disk and mounted it after it appeared. This time he didn't have to try to make himself clear, the girl named Tea saw him as soon as he appeared between the trees.

"Um ... hello", nothing more to the prince.

"Who am I honored with?" She asked interestedly.

"So, you must have heard of the Game Place Kingdom-"

"No," she interrupted.

"Okay, then not, at least my grandfather is the king of Game-Place, and I'm Prince Yami, or also known as the King of the Games," he said, pointing to himself a little bravado.

"Cool! The King of the Games in person!" Said Tea beaming. "Do we want to play something? Do you have something with you?"

"Well, my favorite game is Duel Monsters, but I don't know if you ..."

"Of course I know Duel Monsters!" Said Tea.

"How can she know Duel Monsters, but not the place of origin?", Yami wondered broodingly. "Anyway ... um, do you have tickets?"

"Sure, I have some," she said with a grin. "You have to come in here."

"How so?""Well, there is a curse on this tower. I can't get out, but others can get in, otherwise Uncle Marik couldn't always try to get in here," she said.

Tea moved aside as the dragon's curse approached the window and Yami skillfully jumped in.

"Shall we?" He asked.

"Wait a moment."

She walked over to a rickety table, rummaged in the pile of torn cloth, and took out a remote control. Pointed against the wall, it pressed on a head and - Violá - the tower wall moved, jerked and hissed and pulled itself upwards, where it disappeared. Behind her stretched a huge arena that Yami immediately recognized as the Duel Monsters arena. The lid of his mouth fell down.

"But - that - this tower - how-", he no longer knew how to put a sentence together.

"My uncle is not exactly the best sorcerer, just wanted to conjure up this tower for me, but didn't notice the genius in it," said Tea with a grin.

Yami just grinned crookedly."So, shall we?" He asked, to which Tea nodded and agreed.

Time passed, the sun sank, day dawned and Prince Yami knew it was time to leave.

"I'll be back tomorrow," he promised and took off with his kite.

The next morning.

The prince woke up yawning and stretched. A new day broke in, the birds were chirping with relish outside the window - and Yami startled.

Everything that almost led to freedom, like doors and windows, had been locked with endless thick chains.

"HEEEEEY !!!!!"

Yami banged on the door, which, which he did, wouldn't open. He knew that this was the work of his grandfather, so often he had admonished him not to go outside the grounds of the castle. Despite the awareness, a huge bead of sweat floated behind Yami's head.

"He didn't have to tie the whole lock straight
