Goodbye, grandfather
1. One evening ...
Gohan lay down on the simple bed in his little house, and his grandson Son Goku happily climbed up to him and lay down on his lap. "Good night, grandfather.", The six year old said contentedly and closed his eyes. Gohan said good night to him, too, and soon fell asleep while Goku stayed awake and listened to the sounds of the summer evening.
For about half an hour nothing moved in the house and it got pitch dark outside. Goku rubbed his eyes and opened them. Oh dear ... he couldn't fall asleep and now he suddenly had to be very urgent. He carefully hopped out of bed, very careful not to wake his grandfather. Just as quietly he opened the narrow double doors of the one-room house and quickly slipped out.
He ran and hopped a little way into the forest until he came to a tree, where he took off his pants to pee on the said tree. "Ah, that was good," he said happily, and put his pants back on. He went back slowly and looked at the clear starry sky. He already knew the constellations and immediately found the North Star. His grandfather had taught him that. Grandfather was incredibly smart. And strong. Last year Gohan started teaching little Goku in martial arts.Grandfather had said he was talented. Goku was proud.
Now he could see the moon too. Oh, what a beautiful, round moon! Goku was fascinated. But suddenly something occurred to him. Grandfather had forbidden him to look at the full moon! He quickly averted his eyes and pressed his hands to his round face, ashamed. He waited, did not move, any movement seemed impossible. His heart was pounding in his chest. Everything went black. The last feeling he felt was fear.

2. Tragic accident
A bestial scream filled the night. Gohan woke up. Another scream. He ran out quickly, only to see his premonition confirmed: an oozaru, a giant monkey, stood in front of him. The old fighter struggled to control himself and not panic. And above all, do not do anything rash. This was Goku, he remembered. His dear grandson turned into a beast when he looked at the full moon. Gohan had told him about it, but avoided mentioning that Goku himself was the "monkey monster".
Suddenly the monster turned to him. He knew immediately that he was in a tight spot. His grandson had no control over himself in this form, he even lost consciousness. Gohan stared straight into the monster's red-hot eyes. Time seemed to stand still. Gohan's limbs were frozen in the cold, yet fiery gaze of the Oozaru. The bloodlust was written in it. Gohan shuddered.
The moment passed and the oozaru lifted its gigantic foot. The paws were deliberately lowered on the tiny looking old man, and before he could evade his body was brutally crushed under the giant foot. His body was almost torn apart, he cried out in pain. But just before he was torn to pieces, his mutated grandson raised his paw and trudged on, roared again bloodily, and continued on his journey of destruction.
The badly battered Gohan was lying on the floor and trembling violently. Should that really be Goku? It was hard to believe. His grandson was the dearest child he had ever seen, innocent and pure. But now he was a beast, a primeval cattle that had nothing else in mind besides blind destruction.
Gohan had seen him like this before. Son-Goku had already looked at the full moon once ...
~ Flashback ~
It was already dark when the two tired warriors returned home. Gohan opened the narrow double door and Goku's soft voice rang out: "Grandfather, look at the moon! It's very round" Gohan laughed softly. You could hear the amazement in the little one's voice. His grandson was very easy to impress. Gohan looked up. "Oh yes, that is a very beautiful full moon, though. I have seldom seen it like this." They looked up together. "Well, can you find the Pole Star, my boy?"Gohan wanted to know.
"Oh!" Said the child. Then, at first very softly, then booming, the old master of martial arts could hear a drumming, hammering sound. He looked over at Son-Goku, who stood motionless and was staring straight ahead with a meaningless look. Gohan was shocked when the child suddenly ripped off his clothes and his hair grew all over his body. In a short time he had grown beyond the trees, thick fur covered his now huge body, his face had been transformed into that of a monkey, with long, sharp fangs, his hands and feet had clawed paws, his eyes glowing red.
It ran down his spine on Gohan. He didn't expect that! His grandson had become an oozaru, a giant monkey.
Somehow he had managed to avoid Goku until Goku was back to normal. It turned out that the baby monkey didn't remember anything after that.
"Son-Goku.", He said the following day. “Listen, my boy. The monkey monsters come when the moon is full.
"Yes, grandfather.", The little one nodded obediently.
"And don't look at the full moon."
"How so?"
"Just do not."
"OK."
~ End Flashback ~
Yes. And yet he had done it, watched the full moon. Certainly not on purpose, but still. And Gohan was fatally injured. He wasn't sure he would make it by morning. But he had to. He wanted at least to say goodbye to Goku.

[B]3. Moonset ...
Gohan gasped, coughed, and spat blood. It took all of his will to cling to life. It was a few hours before sunrise and Gohan didn't know if he could hold out that long. But he had to. And he would. He was a fighter, he would be strong for his grandson. Even though the boy wasn't his grandson ...
The injured fighter crawled to a boulder to hide.
Meanwhile, Goku, who had mutated into a monster, was raging in the forest, and where he went he left a trail of destruction. Under his huge feet the mightiest trees buckled like straws. He was blind with anger, with a passionate rage of destruction, nothing could stop him that night, because now he showed his real and true form. And so he was free, without limits, without rules, free ...
Immediately the moon set and the oozaru paused. The boulder he was about to throw fell from his hand. His limbs froze, he shrank, his fur disappeared. It was less than five minutes before he was a little boy again with tangled, pitch-black hair and a monkey tail.
When the sun rose, the child woke up. Goku blinked and rubbed his eyes.
"Man, I slept well! Such a little moonlight walk works really wonders ..." said Goku loudly. He looked around in amazement. The trees were bent over like matches and the grass was trampled flat. "Well, what happened here? Everything is broken ... and why am I not wearing anything? Where am I here anyway? Well, that's not my bed ... strange, very strange all of that." He got up and looked around. How was he supposed to find his way back home now? Inspecting his surroundings more closely, he finally knew which way to go. He knew the terrain, the mountains, and was so good at orientating himself. The way home was the path of destruction that the oozaru had created. Son Goku did not know about it. For him it was just a very deep sleep.
When he stepped out of the forest and into the clearing near his house, he was startled.

[B]4. The impossible
The whole house was destroyed. Here, too, the trees looked like matches, it seemed so easy for their destroyer to bend them. Son Goku was totally shocked, he had never seen anything like it in his life. Not even then, the morning Grandfather told him about the monkey monster. The monkey monsters ... yes, it must have been. Suddenly Son-Goku was simmering hot: where was grandfather? He got scared, a feeling he hardly knew otherwise.
Then he heard a gasp and his grandfather's weak but unmistakable voice. She called his name. The little one ran over to the invisible voice. He found Grandfather behind a boulder. Oh, how did he look! Son-Goku had never seen his grandfather so exhausted, so used up, so emaciated. It ran down the child's spine as cold as ice. "Come here, my boy," whispered Gohan, barely audible.Goku took a few steps and knelt down to Gohan. "Why do you look so ... tired, grandfather?" He asked. “Do you remember how I told you about the monkey monsters?” Goku nodded. "They were here today ... you see the destruction. And one ... stepped on me with his huge paw, and -" "Why didn't you fight?" The boy interrupted. "It was too strong, far too strong."
"Nobody is stronger than you!", The boy almost whined. "You're wrong, Son-Goku. These monsters are over for everyone. Now listen carefully. You probably won't understand it now, but I'll be leaving my life this day. I'll die. And pretty soon." Gohan closed his eyes for a moment, opened them again, blinked. "I don't understand, Grandfather. What does 'die' mean?" "That ... I can't explain that to you so quickly. Let's say it's like falling asleep and never waking up." "Then you never will go fishing with
