The way to the light

(8th)

Now it was crystal clear to him. Fisk beamed.

They pushed the stones so that the water and wind stones were on the same level, the flint stone (seen from the entrance of the temple) in front and the time stone neatly divided into 5 halves formed the corner points and the middle. Fisk and Azurian stood proud of their achievement in front of the Y (formed from the water, wind and flint stone), framed by the parts of the time stone.

"Well done" Azurian and Fisk turned around in surprise. "Exceptionally well done!" Said the being that now stood in front of them. It was gray, his eyes glowed dark orange, his body was thin and floated slightly above the ground.

"Greetings since me, paladin disciples. My name is Jukico." His golden-yellow robe moved as if by the action of the wind.

It was getting dark. Jukico told Fisk and Azurian that the planet Arkanan was a thriving jungle world many thousands of years ago."My people were the inhabitants of the jungle. They lived in temples like this and prayed to enrich their psi. But when the three moons of the planet crashed on it, they sacrificed their accumulated psi to destroy the moons. Without the psi they became theirs Temples susceptible to the weather and damage from their enemies. As the moons were destroyed, their equilibrium was also swayed. Ascetic, wise monks became prodigal, bloodthirsty warriors. Clans formed which acted against each other and tapped the sun's energy for their wars , instead of the psi that they otherwise had to collect over thousands of years. The clans were united by one, a patient monk. He kept the warring powers from each other, who surrendered after a long time of impatience. I am the monk's descendant.

And you see the result of this dispute particularly strongly today. The sun is dying. It only shines red and has dried up the jungle. There is only a little water left ... But that should be used for our purpose!

Enough now, we will start training tomorrow ... "

Fisk was sound asleep, as was Jukico. But Azurian was awake and her grief had returned. She crept quietly out of the temple and sat with her head on her arm, leaning on one of the billions of stones on the desert planet. Her gaze wandered to the stars. Then she made up her mind. "I'm sure Yoki knows how to help me ..." Azurian looked for Yoki's aura and finally disappeared to him.

Morning had dawned on the main planet of the Alliance of Light (which, by the way, was called Iliur) and Yoki was standing on one of the vast grassy plains of the planet which, besides the cities, made up most of the world. He was meditating when Azurian appeared before him. Slowly Yoki rose and turned to her. "Azurian ... why are you visiting me?" Azurian sat down on a small stone and talked.

Yoki saw her problem. "The moon ... the rays emanating from it ... just see it as a test to pass. If you've found a way to use the transformation, then the test is passed. All right, Azurian? "

Azurian considered his words. "All right. There's no challenge I can't pass! Thanks for the advice, Yoki." Yoki bowed. Azurian turned when she suddenly remembered something else. "Yoki! Wait a minute, I ... oh, forget it ..." She teleported back to Arkanan.

They had to get up early in the morning. Jukico tied a huge barrel on each of their backs and drove them into the desert. "The only body of water is far away from the temple. We will fetch for two days." Fisk and Azurian looked puzzled. Both were cheerful again, despite the heavy burden. "Why for two days? The water that we will put in the giant buckets will last for months!"Fisk turned to Jukico." Think before you speak! The way is long and the sun is hot and burns strongly. More than half of the water will evaporate. ", Jukico replied. Azurian interjected:" You could ... "Jukico interrupted her:" Don't forget, it's about training your patience! I know your Azurian idea. It would work, but I prefer the exercise. No more discussions, we still have a long way to go !!! "

They finally reached the watering hole two hours later. It really was nothing more than that. A gigantic pit over which the precipitation was concentrated.

Jukico gave the instructions: "Put the vats down on the water and pull them through the water." Fisk was about to open his mouth and protest when Jukico's sharp look directed him away.

The buckets were filling up slowly, but when they finally did it, Azurian and Fisk had to run as fast as they could through the desert, spurred on by Jukico. However, they wanted to prove it to their master and so they fell three times as fast as Jukico over dunes and rocks.

The red sun was slowly setting, giving the temple a ghostly hue. The Master of Patience and his disciples ate. Eating was also a training for her. Viscous, slimy gruel billowed on their plates, which was allowed to get onto Fisk's and Azurian's lips solely through willpower and patience without the aid of cutlery or hands. If they were too fast, Jukico let the phlegm heat up, so that his students had to try to sleep after a meal, hungry and with swollen lips.

The whole day was training for her. The same daily routine came over and over again. Get up, get water, run back, get water ... and eat in the evening and try to survive until the next day.

So time went on, months passed and, to Fisk's and Azurian's astonishment, even years. They asked and discussed the length of their training with Jukico, but he always said they weren't ready yet. There was a good side to it, however. Over the months, Azurian and Fisk had gotten used to the lifestyle and found time again for evening training, but each to himself.

The day came and Fisk was now (according to his calculation) 12 years old (Fisk and Azurian had agreed by `scissors, rock, paper` that Fisk was one day older than Azurian).

Jukico and his students started their daily excursion. No words were exchanged. This silence was kept all day long, because they had heard Jukico's instructions a thousand times.

Fisk skipped dinner and everyone went to sleep. In the middle of the night, Fisk got up. Quietly and slowly, he woke Azurian. "Wa ..." She looked at him tiredly and questioningly. With a clear gesture, Azurian followed Fisk outside.
