It had been a week since the day Bulma and Vegeta met in the great hall of the Capsule Corporation's repair shop. As Bulma had said, the spaceship was now ready and fully operational. Earlier than planned, Bulma had gone to great lengths to distract herself from her pain. Meanwhile she accepted Vegeta's decision and it didn't hurt as much as it did in the beginning. She told herself she was strong. Life goes on and other mothers have beautiful sons too. Bulma wasn't afraid that she might be left and never get a man.Somehow she was now even glad that she wasn't tied to anyone. And that was one of the reasons why she understood Vegeta. It is this freedom that you do not want to be deprived of what connects the two. Neither Bulma nor Vegeta intended to be dependent on anyone and so Bulma accepted it. It was helpful that she coped with the whole thing so easily now that she hardly met Vegeta. Since the day he visited her in the hall, she had only seen him walking past twice. He made her feel like he didn't care how she was doing anymore. He did not speak to her at these meetings in the hallway, not even look at her. It was almost the same as before. Just like when he hasn't shown her his warmth, which he usually hides to the utmost. A touch of his good side that nobody but her could see. Now it was like when he moved into this house. Back when they came back from Namek. This distance is very similar to the distance from back then, only that this time it was almost more extreme. But maybe this distance would pass over time and they could deal with each other normally again. As normal as if nothing had happened. As if that night never happened. Bulma wished that what had happened that night had never happened. It would have been much easier, but she hadn't thought of what was coming in the morning when she saw the stars in the sky reflect in his eyes. She had the suspicion that she regretted it although she had enjoyed it. What was so bad about doing something out of pure mood? Without regretting it afterwards? She had thought to love him, but now that she tried to forget all this and suppress the feelings for him, she is no longer so sure and the feelings for him are gradually fading. She thought she was over. She thought that from now on she doesn't care what Vegeta does and what he doesn't.But when her father told her this morning that Vegeta was going to take another long journey into space it struck her with a stab in the heart. Could it be that she hasn't forgotten yet? That she still cares so much about him that this separation hurts her so much ?! She would like to talk to him and keep him from doing it, but it would be of no use. She wouldn't go to him so that he could mock her again for her feelings. She wouldn't let him hurt her like that again. But typically for her, she couldn't let it rest on the fact that he would just run away, as always, without saying "bye". At the moment she is sitting in front of her computer, doing the final calculations for her father's new project, and forging a plan. She has to catch Vegeta on the day of his demolition, which day is exactly today, before he gets on the spaceship. As an excuse she wanted to explain the most important things to him again, and then confront him.But she should not come to the execution of her plan. Because only now does she notice Vegeta's reflection in the monitor, who is standing close behind her chair, and start up: "Wah !! What the hell are you doing here ?! And why are you sneaking up on yourself like that ?!" Vegeta gives way, something herself startled by Bulma's scream, step back and mumble: "Sorry, no intention!" Bulma turns back to her monitor and leans her elbow on the desk. After a while she calmly asks him: "What's up? Is something wrong with the spaceship?" Vegeta doesn't say anything, he just looks at her reflection in the monitor. Your look is sad and thoughtful. "Or are you coming to say goodbye?" whispers Bulma. "How do you know?" Vegeta is a bit surprised because he doesn't know who she knew he was going to fly into space. "Papa told me." she answers him. "You would certainly not have told me and, as always, you would have just blown off without a word." she attaches to it dejectedly."That's not true." Vegeta gives her back briefly. Bulma gets up from her chair and goes to her window. It looks cold outside and November shrouds everything in a cloudy fog that doesn't seem to be clearing. Bulma hates this depressed autumn weather and wraps her arms around her shoulder. She shivers slightly when she imagines the cold outside. "When are you going to come back?" she asks Vegeta hesitantly without taking her eyes off the garden. "Don't know? I have provisions and fuel with me for a year. I may not come back until then." he answers quietly. Bulma winces slightly, takes a hand on the pane of the window and sadly lets her gaze sink. "A year?" she thinks out loud. "A whole long year ?!" she repeats in her mind. She didn't expect that. She thought his trip would only be a short stay, but a whole year came as a bit of a surprise to her. What will she experience during this time without him being there? He is then probably millions of light years away from her and she would not even know if he is okay or not. She has come to terms with his decision and accepts that he doesn't feel the same as she does, but this departure into space is something final. “What if I might never see him again ?!” she ponders hard, not noticing how her lower lip starts to tremble slightly and secret tears collect in her eyes. No, she didn't notice, but Vegeta is watching her all the time. "Yes, it has to be! I have to get out of here!" he begins to speak calmly but with a serious tone. "I have to see that I get my strength under control, or do you want me to blow up your house?" he attaches to it, now with a slight smile. Bulma says bitchily: “I will definitely not miss you!” She looks at his reflection, seeks his gaze and smiles at him, albeit wistfully. Vegeta looks at her a bit puzzled and then says with a grin: "I know!"Vegeta turns to the door, but pauses when Bulma starts to speak again." You know, I'm not as angry with you as I was in the beginning. "She tries to make a relaxed impression. Vegeta listens with interest up. "Yes, it hurt a lot in the beginning. I've never been used before ... "she continues without looking at him, hoping that he wouldn't just leave." You know, you hurt me a lot ... but. .. I accept your decision. "Her voice shook. Vegeta doesn't say anything. He didn't expect that she would talk to him about it now, although he had secretly hoped for it. After a while Vegeta decides something "Do you know why you humans are so weak?" he asks Bulma now without looking at her. Bulma looks over her shoulder back at him and looks at him questioningly. "Because you have feelings!" Vegeta answers her coldly now. Bulma looks at him stunned and frightened. But your gaze immediately becomes gentle and sad again. "Yes, feelings make you weak!" Vegeta begins to express his message again. "I can't afford to be weak." he continues without turning to Bulma. "Anyway ..., not now ..." he adds, barely audible, and disappears out the door. Bulma seems to understand. He seems to be afraid of weakening from feelings he might develop and losing the fight in 1½ years. “Maybe that's why he was so dismissive to me?” Bulma ponders briefly. Maybe something would turn up after the fight against the cyborgs? "But will I be able to wait for you that long?" Bulma asks herself if she would be so faithful. Were her feelings for him strong enough to wait for him that long? She goes thoughtfully into the living area, into her room and steps out onto the balcony. It's fresh and she is about to go back into the room when the floor begins to shake under her feet. She looks at the trigger of the quake and watches how the spaceship lifts off the ground. She steps to the railing and realizes that she had seen Vegeta earlier, in her laboratory, possibly for the last time, at least for a whole long year. It runs cold down her spine and she is a little afraid of what is to come. She looks forward to a boring time. Nobody there to destroy anything or to repair anything. Nobody who yells around loudly or argues with her. Nobody who feeds the refrigerator or is forced by it to go shopping because he suffers from abnormal wear on clothes. Nobody who gives her the feeling of security when he is even around her. He is gone. Vegeta is gone, she realizes now as she watches the spaceship rise and disappear into the thick fog. The wind dies down and back there is only stillness and cold. Coldness and sadness in their heart. "Will I ever see you again ... Prince of the Saiyans ...?" she whispers and a lonely tear creeps down her cheek.
Vegeta opens the seat belt on his seat and goes to one of the porthole windows. "How often have I wanted to get out of here and leave it all behind me ?! How often have I never wanted to come back here ?!" he asks himself angrily and looks at the blue star from which he is getting further and further away. "Now I do ... and ... damn ... why does it hurt ?!" he whispers, clenches one hand into a fist and hits it gently on the side of the porthole window. He lets his eyes sink and whispers: "Damn it! Why is it all so complicated ?!" The spaceship takes him far away from her. Far away, maybe into a new future.
