A / N: This is my first attempt at FF outside of DB. It starts right at the end of the book / film. I take the names from the novel (the trolls are called differently ...), in the book everything is much more detailed and precise - not as shortened as the VOX version * shake your head *

The left half of the waning moon cast its cold rays on Central Park, while the cool night air swept through the tops of the tall trees and rustled the leaves. The park was deserted at this time, the last joggers had long been home in the warm, no one who was still walking his dog, not even a young couple in love strolling along the gravel paths holding hands.
Virginia snuggled closer to Wolf, who wrapped his arm more tightly around her because she was shivering slightly. She was still wearing her thin, blue cardigan over the simple T-shirt that she had worn during all of her adventures, but that wasn't because she had the creeps down her back, rather it was his closeness, that of her prepared pleasant shivers. For an almost infinitely long time they had been wrapped up in silence on the wooden bench and simply enjoyed being close to each other, although it wasn't all that quiet around them.
On the main road not far away, innumerable car engines roared, tires screeched and annoyed drivers sounded their horns. Loud, unmelodic music came from somewhere - * or maybe it just sounds unmelodic because I've heard the perfect music and am now spoiled for everything else?`Time to get tied up` ... * -, probably from a newly opened discotheque.
The unmistakable smell of Manhattan hung in the air, a mixture of exhaust fumes, breadcrumbs and dog, although Virginia found the dog smell the most pleasant, as it reminded her of the faithful-eyed Golden Retriever she had grown so fond of in the past few days. * He must have really enchanted me ... * she thought, shaking her head. * We haven't been separated that long and I already miss him. It is true what people say; shared adventures weld together. *
"Huff-puff, you shouldn't put your pretty forehead in such folds! That doesn't suit you at all, my juicy girl." With his thumb, Wolf carefully smoothed Virginia's wrinkled forehead, tilted his head, examined his work while he was delighted in her surprised, wide eyes. Then it flashed in his and a grin pulled the corners of his mouth up. "Much better ..."
“Wolf, let's go home, will we?” The wind had picked up, and even if Wolf's body had kept her comfortably warm until now, it was still a bit to go until they both ... The realization hit them as unprepared as on that fateful day when Wendell suddenly ran out of the blue into her bike and couldn't brake her in time, and judging from the look on Wolf's face, he had recognized exactly the same thing.
They didn't have a home. If the police hadn't confiscated all of their belongings, then Mr. Murray must have thrown it out the window or done something with it. Virginia unconsciously clenched her hand into a fist, as she had so often done when she thought of the man who had made life so difficult for them. Not that their father behaved like God knows, but they certainly didn't deserve the treatment they'd received from the homeowner. Although ...
"How long do these dragon dung beans last?" Asked Virginia. She secretly hoped that the wishes Tony had made so carelessly had long since lost their effect. On the other hand, it might be funny to have Murray's family as subjects ... Virginia shook her head. * Where do these thoughts come from? Ever since Dad told me about his wishes, I've been thinking about it ... *
"Well, after six wishes, the effect is over, quite simply, as it is in the contract. Then you can no longer wish anything." Again, Virginia's eyebrows drew together a little, and Wolf smiled as if he could inside her clever little head see and watch it work. The very first time he sniffed her, he had known that she was something very special. * Luckily I made the right decision ... love, eat, love, eat ... I definitely have something from love for longer ... * - "Why?", Wolf asked back and quickly scratched his brow with his right hand, which was slightly puzzled.
Virginia couldn't help smiling. She had come to love that gesture, as well as his sometimes childish - sometimes inappropriate - curiosity about things he didn't know, his honest heart, and all the other, small, seemingly nondescript things that you might not remember, that you might not remember Couldn't call them by name, but they were so important for happiness as a couple ... or three.
"You can still remember what Dad said, right? Murray and his family were his servants and the SWAT team that was after him," she replied, while a hand stroked her stomach, seemingly lost in thought. "Will the spell still exist, even if the bean has long since lost its effect?"
"Oh, huff-puff, I, well, I'm afraid so, yes." Wolf's eyes looked at Virginia sadly. "Yeah, I know I should never have given Tony the dragon dung bean, it's all my fault!Jemine! Because of me, the police will chase him forever until they catch him and lock him up, like in the Snow White Memorial Prison ... but for sure for much longer! Oh, Virginia! Please forgive me, I also promise you that I will wipe out the effect of the desires, yes? Sorry? "He talked in a real intoxication, without even giving his fiancée time to figure out the beginning of a sentence." But how else could I have persuaded him to tell me your whereabouts? I mean, actually it was basically his own fault. He was still so greedy and didn't worry about the consequences ... "The most winning smile appeared on the wolf's lips.
"Wolf," said Virginia reproachfully and slowly shook her head from side to side, but couldn't hide the amused twinkle in her blue eyes. "You have changed, I know that. I am not angry with you."
"Really? Huff-puff, I'm relieved ..."
Virginia shook her head again, wondering if Wolf's really unpredictable mood swings, which should soon be due to her. Then she got serious again. "So the police will still be looking for my father ... But Mr. Murray probably won't have cleared our apartment yet. We have to go there. I have my savings account in my room. Also, there are some things I don't want to leave there . "Virginia broke away from Wolf, stood up, and stretched extensively. After the exciting last few days, she was no longer used to sitting still for so long. "Are you coming?" She asked smiling when Wolf made no move to get up as well.
"Uh ... but yes," he stammered and jumped nimbly to his feet. Up until now he had only seen Virginia standing in the moonlight, and then she couldn't blame him for standing - or sitting - a little beside her, could she?
The relatively short walk to Virginia's home was made in silence, and she couldn't help but notice how ironic the whole situation was. Here she was walking through the forest, hand in hand, with the wolf who had put the ring on her, which would never come off, and which was funny; she didn't want to escape.
East 81st Street was quiet and cozy, there were no passers-by who were stunned by troll dust, and even the pink powder was nowhere to be seen.
"Let me do the talking, will you?" Whispered Virginia Wolf as they entered the small lobby of the apartment building through the creaking main door.
Will, the porter who has been employed here for ages, turned his gaze from the ongoing lottery drawing - * it can't be a six anyway, and I can't get out of here without him ... * - to the two newcomers. His frown turned into a smile and he beckoned her closer.
"Good evening", greeted Virginia politely and pulled Wolf with him, who could also bring himself to an "evening".
"Hello, Virginia! I was afraid you'd never show up ... After everything that happened ... Mr. Murray is very concerned for your father's well-being, you know. It's strange," he continued, shaking his head away. "You know what he is like firsthand, this behavior is more than peculiar. But maybe I shouldn't say that, should I? Haha."
"Yes, that's right," she replied, a little distracted. Actually, she had hoped that she would just get to her apartment quickly and then leave as soon as possible. She hadn't planned for old Will to hold her up for so long. "Um, we need to get a few things out of the apartment for a moment, would that be possible?"
Will eyed Wolf intently, as if when Virginia had said "we" he had noticed for the first time that she was not alone. His unusual eyes were somehow frightening, although obviously there was no harm in him when he was with Ms. Lewis. His clothes were just as unusual, somehow darkly known without his being able to identify them. Virginia's pleading eyes finally softened his heart and he nodded towards the elevator.
"Mr. Murray is out of the house, he shouldn't be back for two hours," said Will. "After the police finished their search, Mr. Murray had the apartment sealed. When your father comes back, he should report to him ..." He didn't even think of asking where Tony was, after all, he didn't want to get drawn into a robbery story. Granting his daughter unauthorized access to the
