By the fire they could finally see what had caused the smell of blood: a long wound on her waist. It was not very deep, but the place was extremely inconvenient because it would hurt every time, while walking or sitting.
Sango doctored Kagome as far as possible with the things from Kagome's first aid kit. For the first time Inuyasha was glad that she was dragging him around with her.

Kagome slept for two days during which Inuyasha did not leave her side. When she woke up she was lying on his lap. She looked up at him. In his face. In his eyes. He didn't look away. She fell asleep again with a smile on her face.Inuyasha shyly caressed her cheek. He put her head on a rolled up sleeping bag and got up. After one last look at Kagome, he went down to the river and sat on the bank.

He let himself fall back and looked at the stars. His ears twitched. Someone came. Inuyasha straightened up and ... saw Kagome. She staggered towards him. She sat down next to him, grimacing in pain.
