Chapter: The dragon sword

The dragon heart

3. The dragon sword

The sword was huge, but light as a feather. My hands had the perfect grip on it. The blade was about 1.50 m long and 20 cm wide. Suddenly one of the huge dragons shot towards me. I raised the sword and stabbed Auto. The kite immediately fell to the ground and I didn't know exactly what had happened. I looked at the sky and saw that the kites were flying in all directions.
I ran back to the others and checked the situation. Jonas and Nils had tried to calm the others down, but the girls were still completely confused. Only after half an hour were the girls quiet and we went to the school basement together, but made sure that no dragon saw us. In the cellar we were safe for now.
Jonas and I went to a corner to discuss the situation.
"What do you think of the dragons thing," he asked me.
"Well, there's something new.No just kidding. I don't know for sure, "I answered him," but I think these dragons are up to no good. The best thing is to first see if everyone is OK. "
"What kind of sword is that you have there anyway?"
I told him the truth: "I have no idea, it just arose from the white dragon heart that much from heaven. In any case, it is very light and feels good in the hand. But look for yourself."
I gave him the sword and when he gripped the hilt it pulled him to the ground. Apparently it was way too hard for him. Strangely, it was as light as a feather for me. I took it from his hand and it was light as a feather again.
I asked him: "Is what? It's light as a feather. Or are you too weak?"
"I'm not too weak!", He yelled at me, "I just think it's extremely difficult! And if you think I'm weak then let's arm wrestle!"
"Okay, I'll take your challenge."
I pulled a table over to us and put my elbow on it. Jonas sat across from me and did the same. Then we started and a second later it was over. I just pressed and heard a crash. I looked at Jonas arm and thought I couldn't see properly. I had punched Jonas arm through the table top and he was now bleeding extremely. I went to the corner where the first aid kit was hanging and took out some bandages. I burned Jonas arm and then went to the others who were still standing there with their mouths open.
"I'm really sorry people if I scared you, but I didn't know myself that I had such powers. I think they come from the sword, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, we'll stay for now-"
"Who said you were the leader?" Asked a voice behind me.
I turned around and saw ... Mr. Skibber, a physics teacher from our school."I think the oldest should be the leader," he said and with a mean smile he added: "And I must be the oldest.
And then something happened that made my heart skip a beat.
"I think Dominik should be the leader, after all, he brought us to safety and some of them he even saved the lives of."
It was Heike who said this sentence and when I looked at her she smiled at me. The others also nodded in agreement.
With renewed courage I looked the skibber in the face and his smile went on.
"Don't be so cheeky!" He yelled at Heike.
I was so mad at that moment that I drew my sword and held it at his throat.
"If you yell at Heike or someone else from this group again, then I'll stab them right!" I yelled at him.
"And you!", I said calmly to the others, "you are going to sleep now. Me and Nils keep watch."I waited until everyone was asleep then I went to the door and kept watch.
I sat down against the wall. I drew the sword and examined it closely. The blade was brilliantly bright and the handle sat perfectly in the hand. It was slightly curved, it partly looked like a huge kitchen knife. The sword reflected the light, I looked at the lamp. It was out and yet the room was brightly lit. Now I realized that the light was coming from the sword. I thought shortly after then I got up and stabbed the wall. I was right. It could even cut through concrete. I wondered if the sword could hurt me too. Finally, I was the only one who could hold it. I put the handle on the floor. And tapped the tip of the sword with my finger. Nothing. Not a scratch. I wanted to know exactly, so I struck the blade with my fist. I closed my eyes. But again I felt nothing. I opened my eyes. The sword was in my arm.But no blood, no crack to watch. I also reached into the blade with my other hand. Nothing, no tickling, no feeling. It was like reaching through a ray of light. I pulled my arms out of the blade and grabbed the sword by the handle. Then I grabbed the sword by the back. Now I could hold it tight, then I wanted to get through again and I could. It responded to my will. In the same way, after a few exercises, I was able to control how strongly the sword shone. It was strange.
Suddenly I heard a rattle. It came from the stairs. I sent Nils back into the room to get Swen and Jonas. When he came back with them (I thought a bit of a change would be good for Swen after his brother's death) I sent Nils into the room to take care of the others. We crept up. We looked around very slowly. There, a shadow flitted around the corner. We followed him quickly. Now he was caught it was a dead end.I told Jonas and Swen to close their eyes. Then I flashed the sword quickly. The attacker was blinded. Jonas and Swen pounced on him. I slowly lit the room. I looked the stranger in the face. Or rather the stranger. Neither of us knew her. Or is it? I looked closely again. It was Carina. She looked at us.
I spoke to her: "Hey Cari where are you from?"
She looked at me confused then asked me: "Do I know you?"
"Hello, it's Dominik, the 10a idiot. The guy who is supposed to always let go of every comment."
"Who? About whom? I can't remember anything."
I looked at her again closely. She had a quirk over her right eye. We carried her down and put her with the others. Then we sat outside the door and kept watch.
The night dragged on for a long time. Many could not sleep and I thought about how it should go on.I wondered if my parents were still alive and how my sister was doing. My brother might already be dead. I wondered how far the dragons had already spread. Whether they were meanwhile all over North Rhine-Westphalia or even spread all over Germany. At that point in time I would never have thought how many would die because of them. I thought about what the government was going to do about them. All of these questions were stuck in my head at the time. I got a chair out of the rum, sat on it and waited until morning came.
