Preventing Armageddon

Superiority of Hope

No.7 - Unpleasant discovery

Half a year is for * fall-on-your-knees-begging-for-forgiveness * and now finally the seventh chapter has reached its "completion". A big thank you to Brixx, who very helpful kicked my butt. My exams start in a week and then I have about two months to write chapter eight. So annoy me about mail and ICQ, so that my writing goes ahead faster ... Incidentally, the comment function should finally work now - don't ask me what it was - I don't know.
@ badgirl: Look forward to a hopefully surprising development ;-) Your assumptions are always inspiring!
Otherwise: Have fun reading and diligently write clerks!

No. 7 - Unpleasant discovery

[i]Life is an unbroken succession of false situations.
Thornton Wilder

"Bulma is looking for you everywhere. I don't want to be in your skin if she finds you here!"
A clearly annoyed expression turned to the tall, lilac-haired figure who leaned casually in the door frame, wearing only long sweatpants and an amused grin. Her left eyebrow slid up her forehead doubtfully. Then Ayame immediately withdrew her attention again, annoyed, concentrated on completing the meditation and finally let pure Ki flow through her whole body. For a few moments she lost herself in the pleasant tingling sensation that the energy left on her nerve endings. The fresh morning air rushed deep into her lungs and gave her thoughts an unexpectedly calming course. Trunks was actually not worth all the effort that her growing displeasure wanted to conjure up at the moment ...
In peace of mind, Ayame slipped the arm sling over her head, moved the fingers of her left hand carefully and then tensed her arm. With one hand she felt for the former wound on the back of her head and the numerous broken ribs. There was no pain in her lungs, only the blood cells went about their usual work unnoticed. A big smile made its way onto her face. With a satisfied sigh on her lips, she turned back to Trunks. “Should I be worried about that in any way?” At the sight of him she couldn't prevent another grin and every idea of other - clearly more energy-intensive - possible solutions was as if erased. On the occasion of her miraculous healing, his jaw had independently sought the shortest path to the floor, his thoughts no longer seemed to follow any order and absolute incomprehension spoke from his face. She had thoroughly mixed up his previously planned appearance. Inwardly, Ayame patted himself vigorously on the shoulder.
In his head the thoughts whirled around in a chaotic dance. Whichever way you turn it, the facts he had witnessed since it first appeared just didn't make sense when put together. On the one hand, why did her wounds disappear without being noticed by her? Then again, why not before she was fully conscious? But in both cases none of the injuries remained. No matter how many sides Trunks tried to shed light on his questions, everything seemed to end on one question: Who is this girl? All the answers were obviously second nature, flowing through her veins as well as Saiyan blood.
No sooner had he come to this tangible approach than the next attack on his mind followed. The inextinguishable smile, sure of victory, still on her lips, she got up, stretched her limbs extensively, and walked towards Prince Junior, who was almost paralyzed by shock.
"So, what do you think? What about my problems with your mother?" Completely relaxed, she folded her arms and noticed that her presence didn't necessarily help him regain control of his thoughts and actions.
These eyes! The same eyes in which he almost drowned a few days ago! He had completely forgotten how strange those navy blue sapphires were. The pupil and iris were the same color, so he couldn't tell them apart. Bit by bit his mind sank into the two lakes.
"I thought so ..." With a shrug, she pushed him aside and, inwardly shaking her head, crossed the door to the next room. How could a Saiyan - no matter how often a half-breed - have so little control over himself !?
Finally in possession of all her powers and her complete consciousness again Ayame took a little time and subjected the room to a closer examination. Its dimensions were really huge. A high window front stretched on two sides, the massive walls took on a certain life of their own thanks to various orange, transparent panels and the ceiling was also set higher than her earlier, claustrophobic thoughts wanted to admit. Several low chests of drawers lined the walls and, together with the wide bed at the other end of the room, gave off a warm impression, which was not least caused by the dark oak wood of the furniture. She couldn't find any medical device anywhere. Right next to the glass balcony door there was a small seating area, which was completed by a knee-high table. Her things lay on one of the chairs - washed and neatly folded. Nothing about them reminded them of their unsuccessful practice session.
After a brief moment she made up her mind, grabbed her things and brushed barefoot over a soft carpet in the direction of one of the two doors in the opposite wall of the room. The second occupant of the room had now caught himself far enough to be able to devote himself again to the current events with due attention. His gaze found Ayame's figure, strolling through the room, completely familiar with her surroundings.
"Where are you going?" Trunks asked confused, still not quite at the height of his thinking after the strange idea on the balcony.
Ayame stopped in mid-step, turned in his direction and offered him a half incomprehensible, half angry expression on his face.Taking into account his likely remaining state of shock in her calculation, after a long struggle she managed to come up with an answer.
"If you allow me, I'll go into the shower now so that I can trust myself again with people, Saiyajins, Namekians or whoever else, which can now obviously no longer be avoided." She cast a telling look down at herself and only now did Trunks register the dark red pajamas, which reached far over her wrists and ankles.
"Oh!" he just did. Ayame rolled her eyes, turned away, and grabbed the handle of the left door purposefully. Suddenly she stopped in the middle of her movement and turned her face halfway towards him again.
"By the way, it would be best for your health if all of my things were in this room as soon as I am finished!" Trunks started to answer, but was immediately silenced with an impatient wave of her hand.“You know exactly what I mean!” With these words, she finally disappeared into the bathroom.

With a soft click, the door closed behind her. The pajamas slid silently onto the floor while Ayame headed for the spacious shower - it was time to wash away the traces of the past few days. She turned the hot water on all the way and leaned back under the jet, relaxing.
The unanswered questions immediately found their way back into her mind. But to get answers, Ayame had to get involved in a confrontation with the Earthlings. She didn't like this idea at all - not after the last few days, in which she was first dependent on Vegeta's help, had to accept Son Goku's offer and then, to her shame, was saved from certain death. She had become too dependent on others on earth for her liking.
Why couldn't something go according to plan? Shenlong had discovered his own will, everyone interfered in their affairs and not even Trunks had allowed himself to be intimidated enough, as she learned from his ki, which was aiming for the kitchen and didn't move in the following minutes. After fighting the rising anger, Ayame thought better of it. With an enjoyable grin on her lips, she imagined an instructive method to pay for his willingness to help. Her wolfish grin broadened a good deal and revealed a pair of sharp canine teeth. Perhaps this would make their search for answers much easier.
But she still did not want to indulge in any hasty hopes. Too much had gone wrong too often lately. Sighing, she dropped all thoughts, questions and guesses and enjoyed the massaging water on her shoulder blades for a few moments.

Examining it, she ran her fingers over the fabric of her clothes. It felt good to finally wear something familiar again. This one of the few constants over the past year created a certain level of confidence.
While Ayame's mood improved noticeably, she left the bathroom and let her gaze wander briefly. As expected, she found the room as she had left it. She focused briefly and found Trunks Aura on the other end of the Capsule Corporation.
[i]Wherever he wants to go, he doesn't get far! A small ki ball appeared in her right hand. With a determined expression on her face and an angry tail lashing, she fixed his aura and teleported to her.

Something hit Trunks in the shoulder and pushed him at a breathtaking speed against the nearest wall, which painfully collided with his back. When he had regained his senses, a ball of energy hovered frighteningly close to his cheek and threatened to scorch his skin. Trunks struggled to free himself, but found himself pressed against the cold wall in an iron grip and the ki moved a little closer to his face. In a last desperate instinct, he turned his head to the side as far as possible, but the energy followed mercilessly. Only now did his thinking begin to intervene, but came to no result that could help him further. Finally Ayame's face appeared before his eyes. It almost sparkled with barely held back anger.
"One last word before I put a deserved end to your miserable life?" she hissed.
It took his brain a few seconds to process the question, and the result sent his mind into chaos again. He suddenly realized what it was about. He had no doubt that Ayame was serious. Her eyes spoke volumes.
Talking seemed pointless to him at the moment and he was also out of the picture. So there was only one possibility. His hand groped along the wall unnoticed and finally he found the control element he was looking for.
