Chapter: The angel

After the amusement park and the rest of the night, they both finally slept. The next morning the sun shone slightly into the room. But after a few minutes it started to rain. The two of them didn't hear anything at first because they were both sound asleep. But suddenly you heard a loud thunder and Layla was standing bolt upright in bed. Mike also woke up to the noise. Still sleepy, he looked at Layla, who held her blanket tighter and tighter and never let go. He got up and sat down next to Layla on the bed. He only touched her shoulder briefly, and she was startled. Mike wanted to calm her down and said in a soft voice: "It's me. You don't have to be afraid. It's just a thunderstorm."
Layla looked at Mike and let go of the covers and clung to him. Only with difficulty was she able to say: "I've always been afraid of thunderstorms. It's the thunder that scares me. It's so loud and so sudden." She clung to him even tighter and didn't want to let go of him.He tried to comfort her and take away her fear. She calmed down slowly. After half an hour the thunderstorm had passed and Layla let go of Mike.
Mike checked his watch and saw that it was already noon. He said to her: "Come on, let's get up and eat something. Agreed?" Layla looked at him and nodded briefly. They were just getting changed and went down to the kitchen. There were two plates and cutlery on the table. There was a note on one of the plates. Layla took the note and read: "We wish you a nice good morning or better said a nice good lunch. We had to go to some friends at short notice. Bryan drove with us. The food for you is in the microwave. Make yourself warm and Enjoy yourself. Mom, Dad and Bryan. "
Mike said: “What are we waiting for?” Layla looked at him and nodded. She went to the microwave and turned it on. After a few minutes the meal was ready and they could eat. After dinner they packed the dishes and cutlery in the dishwasher and disappeared upstairs to continue studying. They only had time to study until Wednesday. And today it was already Sunday. Not much time left, right?
In the evening Layla's parents were still not back. Mike finally made his way home. The next day after school, Mike had to see a doctor and couldn't see Layla right after class. But just today he wanted to know how she was doing, because worry spread in her eyes. But why had she been worried since last night? After seeing the doctor, he immediately went to Layla. Once there, Layla opened the door. They went upstairs to Layla's room together.
Layla was the first to enter the room. Mike followed her. In the room, Mike immediately saw that there was a stand with a picture near her desk. In this picture there was a female person with white large wings. The white robe just shone like that.It was dark around the woman. Demon hands wanted to reach for her. Mike just couldn't describe it properly, the picture was so beautiful. Mike asked her: "When did you paint the picture? Not today?"
Layla looked at him and said: "No. I started it a few years ago. Today I had some time and dug it out. Today I felt like continuing with the picture. But I'm far from finished. It probably will take a long time. "She sat on the floor and opened the math book. Shortly afterwards, Mike also sat down next to her. But before starting the study, she said again: "You like the picture, don't you?"
Mike nodded his head. Only after a few minutes of silence did he speak: "The picture reminds me of someone. ... Unfortunately, she is no longer alive." He was only able to hold back a tear with difficulty. Layla noticed it and asked, “What about you?” Mike looked at her and answered in a sad voice: “It was a long time.I was just six. My older sister looked something like your angel in the picture. She died at the age of 13. ... She took her own life just because of her class. She was just as hated in her class as you are now in our class. When I realized this, I remembered my sister. She suffered terribly. And I wanted to spare you. I want others to go through what I went through. The time after her death was the worst ever. I couldn't think clearly at all. For me life no longer had any meaning.
It was only after two years that I got out of my lows and met some former classmates. I asked her at the time if it was difficult that my sister was no longer there. But they gave me the answer that they were glad that she was no longer there. That was a shock to me. That day I realized that she was very lonely in her class. With you I felt it exactly that you were alone and lonely.I didn't want you to have exactly the same fate as my sister. "He was barely able to hold back tears.
Layla looked at Mike and put one of her hands on his shoulder. He looked at her. There was also sadness in her gaze. She felt for him. After a long silence, Layla said, to divert attention from the topic: "Let's start studying. The maths work will not be easy." Mike agreed and both began studying. Math wasn't a problem for Mike. But for Layla, math was a nightmare subject. She rarely understood anything about the teacher. Since Mike started studying with her, her math felt a lot easier. He explained something to her until she finally understood. The last days before work passed like this.
