Chapter: Run, Alfred, run

Predefined things that have to appear:broken mirror, unopened / unread love letter, withered rose, rusty dagger

Renn, Alfred, Renn

A new night was announced and slowly but surely the vampires in the Count's castle woke up, one of them was Alfred, who slowly crawled out of his coffin. He stretched and stretched with relish before he started tonight. While he looked around in his room, the very new vampire saw a letter on the bed and on it was a rose that had long withered away. The ex-science assistant carefully approached the object, as if he feared that a vampire hunter might storm out of the envelope. As he looked at the handwriting, Alfred immediately knew who this letter was from, but even without the handwriting he could have guessed it. For my Alfi, it was written in neat, neat handwriting on the envelope, but instead of reading the apparent love letter, he preferred to leave it where he was and preferred to make his way down to the castle courtyard.Just as he stepped out of the castle gate, someone came towards him.
"Boy, did you see my daughter?" Asked Chagal the former inn owner.
"No, I haven't seen her yet," replied Alfred politely.
"That girl," said the plump vampire. “Woe to the lecher who may be fondling you.” And with these words the vampire continued his search.
Alfred walked slowly across the courtyard to the castle's private cemetery, looking around from time to time as if something was going to pounce on him in the next moment. At a grave statue that was already quite overgrown with tendrils, he stopped and looked around nervously one last time. Here he was apparently safe, at least for tonight, he thought.
"So you've come, my angel of the night," came a male voice from behind Alfred. Startled and jerky, the young scientist turned around and looked into Herbert's face.
"Uh ... G-good evening, H-Herbert," stuttered Alfred."So you accepted my invitation," said the count's son and seemed happy about it.
"E-invitation?" Repeated Alfred and looked questioningly at his counterpart.
"You read my letter, didn't you?" Asked the vampire.
"Well ... II ...," Alfred began but couldn't speak further because Herbert wrapped his arms around the boy's waist and hugged him.
"Isn't it a wonderful romantic night," Herbert breathed to his love and approached his face. Alfred had a panic attack and tore himself away from the embrace of his unwanted admirer. He ran quickly as fast as his legs could carry him into the castle and further and further down the corridors. At some point he hid in one of the rooms and took a deep breath in and out. He noticed that he had got into the armory of the castle and that it seemed, due to the many cobwebs, to have not been used for a long time. He picked up an old rusty dagger that was lying at his feet and looked at him from all sides. With that he would definitely not be able to keep Herbert at bay and to be honest he never liked to hurt anyone, friend or foe, because as a person he hadn’t even managed to stake a vampire. The young vampire put the dagger back and carefully opened the armory door to see if the air was clear. He didn't really dare to step outside.
"Well, is anyone there?" Asked someone behind him.
"Ah!" Shouted Alfred and jumped out the door. When he saw that Herbert was the one who had stood behind him, he was almost speechless. "How-how are you ..."
Herbert grinned at Alfred's frightened and at the same time astonished face. "After all, I've been living here long enough and as you can imagine every lock has its little secret passages." The vampire slowly walked to his loved one, but he fled again. With Herbert by the verse, Alfred ran into the ballroom and hid behind one of the pillars. He was lucky that vampires didn't have a mirror image because the whole walls were peppered with the local ones, he would have been quickly discovered as a human. At the echoing and individual steps, Alfred recognized that Herbert was slowly turning his round in the hall and listening now and then to perhaps listen to him.
"Hello you .." suddenly breathed in Alfred's ear and out of the surprise effect the young vampire jumped against the mirror opposite, which broke at the same time.
"Why so scared, Alfi?" Said Herbert and before his object of desire could flee again, he held it tightly in his arms. "I just want to be with you."
"B-But I ...," Alfred tried to persuade himself, but this time he didn't seem to have any luck to escape. Herbert approached his face and grinned so broadly that you could see his pointy teeth. Just before Herbert could do whatever he was up to, the hall door popped open."Herbert!" Exclaimed Count Krolock and spotted his son in a deep embrace with Alfred, who did not reply.
"Yes, father?" Herbert replied a little angry that his father had to show up at just such a moment.
“I have a word to talk to you!” This sounded more like an order than a request, and since Herbert knew how uncomfortable his father could get, he preferred to give in and follow him. Shortly before he left the hall he turned to Alfred again and then said:
"We will continue our little" conversation "later," and he was gone.
Now Alfred could only hope to find a really, very good hiding place, and he immediately started looking for it.
