Fanfic: Ewiger Schlaf - Teil 6 - Das Ende
Chapter: The end
Konnichi wa! m (-_-) m * bow *
Let's leave the long prefaces, let's start right away. Here comes part 6 of "Eternal Sleep", my humble little fan fiction. ^^
And a GOMEN NASAI that it took so long.

... Was it right what she was doing here? Fear and uncertainty spread through her and the glow became weaker. She didn't have much time to make up her mind. What should she do?
She had never felt so agitated in her life. She wavered between heart and mind. She wished for nothing more than to finally be able to see InuYasha again. But did she really want to sacrifice everything for him?
* "Make up your mind now!" * She heard the voice calling again and then shook her head vigorously. "I can't!" She called back and screwed up her eyes.
"Now go on, Kagome."
The black-haired woman turned around in amazement and saw her mother leaning in the door frame and smiling benignly at her."What did you say, mom?"
"You do love him, don't you?"
Kagome nodded slowly and then looked away sadly.
"But I love you too ..."
"Listen to your heart, Kagome-chan. I am proud of you, no matter what you do. And I want you to be happy. And you alone know where your happiness lies."
As Kagome's mother spoke, she kept smiling. Just very weak. Kagome also smiled briefly and then turned back to the fountain.
"If that's the case, then I've made up my mind," she said softly and put her palms back on the glowing floor. The glow became stronger again and the ground below her finally gave way. One last time she looked her mother in the face, gave her her most beautiful smile and disappeared with a quiet "Arigato" into the darkness of the fountain. The glow went out and Kagome's mother slumped powerlessly. Hot tears ran down her face, each one calling out to Kagome. But she knew that her daughter would never forget her, and maybe one day they would meet again. Sometime...
Kagome's body felt like it was about to burn up with heat. Her heart pounded indignantly against her chest as something constricted her throat. Suddenly, however, the stinging was gone and she felt ice-cold water around her. Surprised, she did what first occurred to her in this unexpected situation and swam upstairs. As she broke the surface of the water, her cool wind blew in her face and she gasped for air greedily. Strong arms grabbed her and pulled her out of the water.
"Kagome!", She heard a familiar voice excite excitedly, and carefully she opened her eyes a crack.
"InuYasha!", She uttered and immediately afterwards coughed violently. "What the hell just happened !!?"
Instead of answering her, the demon took the young girl in his arms and hugged her tightly. The unexpected action of the Hanyous brought Kagome back to reality and made her aware that she was now with him, whom she loved so much. She returned his gesture and glittering tears mingled with the cold water that dripped from her pony onto her face and found its way down her now heated cheeks.
"I'm so happy to finally see you again. It was a terrible feeling when I saw you at the Goshinboku in front of me, but couldn't touch you ...!", The black-haired sobbed softly and clawed her fingers into the fabric of InuYasha's Suikan .
A wave of emotion rolled over her. She felt deep sorrow at having simply given up her old life without saying goodbye to her brother, grandfather or friends. The certainty of living in a world full of demons and other dangers that she didn't really fit into. The fear that she might have acted wrong when faced with a choice. And then there was love. The love for a boy who was neither human nor demon. He had often treated her badly and insulted her, was rude and insensitive, violent and quick-tempered. And yet she loved him so much that this feeling overwhelmed her and overshadowed all other feelings. Suddenly she forgot all grief and slowly pulled away from InuYasha to look him in the eye. They shone golden and pale moonlight was reflected in them. He carefully wiped a few tears from her cheeks and then looked at her for a long time. He closed his eyes and slowly leaned down to her.
"Kagome !!!!!", suddenly came the call of a child and let the two lovers drive apart.
"Shippo-chan!", The black-haired one was happy and the little Kitsune had jumped into her arms. She couldn't help but grin when she saw InuYasha's insulted face, which eyed the little fox demon suspiciously."Do you always have to show up at such an inconvenient moment !!?", The Hanyou pissed off and gave the little one a head-butt.
"Ouch! Kagome, he hit me!"
"InuYasha! Osuwari!"
The demon landed on the floor with a crash and then looked at Kagome with a huff.
"I thought you would be happy to see me again ...!"
"I've told you a thousand times not to hit Shippo-chan all the time."
"It's almost like the old days."
Amazed, Kagome looked over his shoulder and saw Miroku, who looked at her with a slight grin. Sango stood behind him, tears streaming inexorably down his pale cheeks.
Kagome put Shippo on the floor, then got up to hug her best friend.
"I thought you wouldn't wake up at all, Kagome-chan ..."
"Stop crying, otherwise I'll have to-"
But it was already too late because Kagome had started to cry too.
"What actually happened to the fountain ...?"
Miroku's words made everyone sit up and take notice, and everyone looked surprised at the spot where the fountain stood.Clear water gushed out of the well shaft and washed around the debris that had previously given the well a shape.
"Why? Where does all the water come from?"
"This is really strange, because according to legend, priests once dug the well, but it did not dispense water, so they just threw the remains of demons into it."
"Well, maybe I dug a little too deep ...!", InuYasha confessed, who had got up again in the meantime.
"Great, I almost drowned because of you ...", Kagome mocked and wiped away his tears.
"And where is the Shikon no Tama?" Sango asked, wiping her wet eyes as well.
"Well, when it started to glow and suddenly tons of water came towards me, I left it down ..."
"You have something?!"
"Don't worry, I don't think he's still down there. I can't feel him. He's probably gone ...", Kagome reassured her friend and then smiled."You're all wet, come on, we're going to the village. Kaede will be happy to see you. We'll cook something for you first."
"Thanks Miroku, but I have to talk to InuYasha for a moment. We'll be there soon."
Sango and Miroku exchanged meaningful looks, while Shippo just looked from one to the other, confused. Sango took him on his shoulder and the three disappeared towards the village.
Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and took his hand to lead him away from the clearing.
They walked through the forest for a while until they finally reached their destination, the Goshinboku.
"The place where we met ...", Kagome said calmly and carefully stroked the bark. The wind rushed through the treetops and rustled the leaves.
"I sacrificed my other life for you, InuYasha. I love you more than anything and I want to stay with you forever."
She sank back and leaned against his chest. She heard his fast heartbeat and felt his warm breath on the back of her neck."I love you too. I will never leave you alone."
She turned to him and just looked at him for a long time. Her hands, which until now had clasped his own, broke away from him and then wanted to take his prayer beads from him.
"No, wait. I don't want to take them off."
"Why not?", She asked astonished and puzzled as she let go of the chain again.
"I've been wearing it since I've known you. It's a memento and makes me think of our time together."
She was pleased with his words and smiled again.
"This time nobody will disturb us ..." he said softly, and he had already sealed her lips with his. They kissed for a long time, and both wished this moment would never end. But the end of the kiss came. Maybe it was the end of their search for the Shikon no Tama. The end of the search for happiness and love. They had found both, and the latter, they hoped, would last forever. And yet there was no end for the two of them.It was a beginning ...

So that was the end of it all. It took a long time, but now I'm kind of sad that it's over. Maybe one day I'll write a sequel. Thanks again to everyone who has written clerks to me so far. Arigato gozaimasu. ^, ^
