Chapter: Boris and Sher'andil

Arcanum snorted sadly and looked around longingly for Justin. He hadn't been seen for three days. The Quarter Horse stallion let out a high-pitched whine and then began to trot across the paddock, still calling for Justin.
Luna has been watching the spectacle for seventy-two hours. She didn't always see Arcanum, but he was all the better to hear.
When Justin got home in the evening, he was pretty much knocked out, and the training was a lot harder than he would have thought. Arcanum just missed his friend too much and Luna broke her heart to see him like that. She also missed Justin, he had hardly called her. Called only once.
Finally she made up her mind. Luna went into the garage, got Arcanum's bridle, and rode into town with the fancy Fallow. The stallion wasn't very impressed by that, but at least it was better than nothing.
Bored, he trudged through the downtown streets, not being bothered by the traffic, indulging in his own thoughts. What is he thinking about right now? Luna wondered, patting his neck. She could feel his body heat transferring inside her. She pressed her legs gently and he fell into a light trot. The people on the street looked at her rather stupidly. It was not uncommon for them to ride long distances here, but most of them always rode with a saddle and appropriate riding gear. But for Luna, washed-out jeans, a baby blue top and sneakers were enough.
Arcanum sensed that Luna wanted something very special here and he accelerated to a brisk gallop. He dashed through the streets and they came closer and closer to the BEGA building. In front of the main entrance she stopped Arcanum, tied him to a tree and then disappeared into the building. Arcanum looked after her in dismay. Couldn't she just leave him here like that? But the stallion soon forgot his allegations, because the grass was just too tempting here.

As soon as she entered the building, Luna was stopped by two men in BEGA uniform. They asked for a membership card, but could not show it. Luna recognized the two men. They were the ones they had tried to stop when Tala had his fight against Garland.
Luna put on an angelic face. "I just want to pick up my boyfriend, you let me, don't you?" She asked emphatically. Since the two men had a vague idea what powers lay dormant in her, they let Luna pass.
When she entered the training rooms, many glances turned to her. On the one hand because Luna did not wear the prescribed BEGA clothing and on the other hand because she was a girl and apart from MingMing there were no other female members here. As she walked through the huge training room, she looked for Justin. But there was nothing to be seen of her boyfriend.
"Can I help you maybe?" A boy said to her and smiled pleasantly.
Luna wondered briefly whether she could trust him. "I'm looking for Justin.", she finally said after a moment's thought.
"Oh," said the boy. "It's not in this training room. You just go through the door over there and keep to the left, then just straight ahead to the next door.", He continued.
She thanked her politely, then followed the boy's directions. After she opened the first door, she stood in a gleaming white hallway with tons of pictures on the walls. Luna followed the hallway and then finally came across Justin. He had his back to her and was talking to Garland, MingMing, Crusher, Mystel and Kai. The six were so absorbed in their conversation that they didn't even notice Luna. She crept up as quietly as possible and then covered Justin’s eyes from behind. The conversation fell silent.
"Hmmm ..... who can that be?" Justin asked in ignorant irony.
"Just take a guess.", She breathed into his ear.
Her hands separated from his eyes and he turned around.A warm smile played on his lips and made her heart beat faster.
"How did you get in here? You don't have any ID.", He suddenly uttered.
"I just said I wanted to pick up my boyfriend," she explained calmly.
"And they really let that go?", Mystel interfered.
In response, Luna only nodded briefly and then turned back to Justin. "By the way, there is someone outside who really misses you."
The addressee looked up at the clock. He had to stay ten minutes. After all, that was a rule he had to adhere to and told her that too. Luna understood that and said in her mind to Arcanum that he would have to be patient a little longer.
"Have you worked with Bomber today?" He asked, starting a conversation so that the time would pass faster.
Luna sighed and rolled her eyes briefly. "Yes I did. This morning and it was hell. He hunched, kicked and bitten like a world champion and then a few minutes later he was pious again.""Who is the Bomber?" MingMing asked curiously, because she wanted to join the conversation.
"One of our horses. The worst of them all, to be precise.", Luna replied dryly.
"Come with me, I have to show you something.", Justin interrupted the conversation between the two girls and pulled Luna a few meters behind him. He stopped in front of a painting and nodded at it. "Who does the picture remind you of?"
The painting showed a horse that wore a red snaffle. Luna got a brief shock.
"Da-d .... that looks like Sher'andil.", She stuttered and ran her fingers briefly over the picture.
"That's exactly what I thought," Justin agreed. " Weird, is not it? "
"Yes. I didn't even know that there were such paintings by Sher'andil. Especially because the picture already looks so old." Luna was absolutely right that the portrait of the stallion looked really quite old. In some places the colors have even lost their strong tones."Do any of you know where Boris got this picture from?" She asked Garland and the others.
But nobody knew. Luna continued to look at the picture.
"You'd better ask Boris yourself. His office is over there," suggested Crusher.
At that moment the door swung open and Boris appeared. He was amazed when he saw Luna here, who stared spellbound at the picture on the wall.
"Nice picture, isn't it?" He addressed the young girl.
"Where did you get a picture of Sher'andil from?" Luna asked straight away.
Boris's face changed suddenly and he stammered around uncertainly. Kai raised his eyebrows in astonishment, he had never seen Boris like this before.
"Let me tell you a little story.", Boris then began and leaned loosely against the wall. "It was about twenty-three years ago in Russia. The winter was particularly harsh and that evening it was snowing like crazy. The abbey was only seven months old at that time.My younger sister, she looked after the smaller children there, and I was sitting in the kitchen drinking tea. Suddenly someone rang the doorbell storm. My sister and I looked at each other and then went to the lobby together. I opened the door and in front of us was a young man, a little older than you, with a one-year-old colt. He asked us for quarters for himself and the horse. I allowed him to stay as long as he wanted. "Boris paused briefly to take a breath.
“The young man, his name was Noah, stayed for a while. And during this period he and my sister fell in love. Ilenka had also lost her heart to the young stallion Sher'andil. I had been against her love and threw Noah and the young stallion off the farm. At that time I didn't know that Ilenke was expecting a child from Noah. One night she just ran off and ran away with Noah. I didn't hear from her for a year. .. ", Boris paused briefly in his narration in order to regroup himself first, then he continued:" Then one day I got a letter. It said that my sister was killed in a terrible accident and that Sher'andil trampled her to death. Of course I then insisted on my nephew, whom she had had shortly before, but I was not refused. So I arranged a picture of Sher'andil so that I can always see my sister's killer. "he finished his story.
His audience was totally shocked by the story. Luna thought at first that he was making it all up, but with this story there was so much sadness and honesty in his eyes that she just had to believe him. But one thing still annoyed her about the whole thing: "But, Sher'andil was always so nice. He couldn't have hurt a fly."
"How do you even know Sher'andil?" Asked Boris, because he had been concerned with it ever since Luna pronounced the stallion's name.
"Well." Luna pressed around briefly. "Sher'andil is Diablo's father, after all, and he was on my grandparents' farm for a while.""I didn't even know that Sher'andil passed on." Boris thought out loud.
"Diablo is his only descendant," Luna explained quickly.
Boris said goodbye with a thoughtful expression and went back to his office. At that moment the clock struck five and Luna remembered that Arcanum was waiting outside. She quickly pulled Justin with her and left the BEGA building. Outside there was great joy. Arcanum nudged Justin cockily and he wrapped his arms around the horse's neck. Luna stood by and just watched the two of them. Now that she knew that Boris had a brief deal with Sher'andil, she had to clear her head first. Something about the story sounded familiar, but she just didn't know what.

When she was in bed that evening, she was still brooding and was going through the story for the umpteenth time. A quick glance at the clock told her that it was well past midnight and that the sun would rise again in a few hours.Luna switched on her bedside lamp and looked at the photo of Diablo, which was right next to it. She stared at it as if bewitched, as if this photo could give her an answer.
Indeed, this is exactly what happened. It fell from her eyes like scales. now she knew how she knew Boris's story.
Namely from Akru ...
