Shadow of the past

Bathed in sweat and trembling, Kaori turned around in her bed, she didn't wake up, couldn't, didn't want to. Trapped in her nightmare, she saw nothing, not even the loud clink or the bright glow, like that of an angel, which emanated from her sword Xenovia. This old, rusty sword, given to its youngest daughter for centuries, woke up because it knew in the deepest depths of its soul that it would soon be needed. Kaori started up, but her eyes were glassy, her face expressionless. She didn't know what she was doing because for her it was still a dream, an endless nightmare where there was nothing but black emptiness. It was as if she was governing a strange, long forgotten power as she raised her sword, swung it over her head, murmured softly imploring, redeeming words: "The time will come, the time will pass, but we will forever stand together. Fight, win, lose, fail, we will master everything together. Oh Xenovia, divine sword, given from Luna's hand, awaken, guide and protect me, always remain faithfully in my hand! "She repeated these sentences over and over again, fell into a madness from which she could no longer get out. But after a few minutes had passed, it became quiet in the room and as if by magic Kaori stopped the incantation and put the sword in its sheath. Then she took it in both of her hands, knelt down and raised it to the sky, as if she wanted to offer it to someone. She remained in this pose for a long time, while the silence seemed to penetrate more and more into the small, gloomy room. Darkness spread, you could not even see how Kaori's eyes lost their glassy expression more and more often, a flashing, idiosyncratic and warlike one took their place. Nothing stirred, it was spooky and at the same time in a strange way soothing. Several minutes must have passed by now, in which she did nothing more than hold Xenovia up, when suddenly the sword vibrated, began to twitch and put everything in a glistening, majestic light. Then Kaori also woke up, albeit with that flashing expression in her eyes, and realized that she was no longer in her room, but in a kind of temple, fenced off by huge tendrils, decorated with flowers and leaves. "Where did I end up here? What happened? I have to dream, I ..." She paused for a moment, closing her eyes tightly. As she opened it again, she said humbly: "Yes, I'm coming. Wait for me." Again she had been a different person, again there was this alien power. But this time it took only seconds until Kaori became Kaori again, but she was magically attracted by a table that stood in front of a huge and awe-inspiring tree, dipped in summer green. She couldn't help but wander there to read what was written on it, because curiosity has always been curiosity. "Strange dream. But what should happen if I wander there now and look at it? It's just a stone in a dream!" So she crouched in front of the blackboard to see better and read out loud: " Holy person who you are. Take Xenovia, the legendary sword, point its point at the notch that is to be found under this writing and say the right words, then you will meet the blessed goddess and maybe also yourself. ... Hmmm? What should I do? Hold my sword there and say the right words? But what are the right words? And do I even want to meet this goddess? And me? I am me! "Kaori wanted to turn away because she didn't think it was important, but she was stopped when Xenovia began to pulsate because it brought words into her head, words that wanted her to be spoken. So Kaori decided that it should It was not reprehensible to try it at least once and, as described, held the tip against the moon-shaped notch and said: "Here I am, well traveled, oh goddess Luna, who you are. Tell me who I am, release me from my sufferings, so that I can serve you, you can guide me, forever, oh goddess Luna. "The silence that followed was eerie, even worse than the one in her room. However, after a short time a melody began that suppressed everything and spread the happy mood.
"It's good to see you again, April! Or rather, Kaori Yamada, as your name is now.Do you recognize me? "A proud, graceful woman stepped up to Kaori who secretly wondered why this person called her April. In the meantime she stood in front of her and without warning she took her in her arms and began to cry indefinitely." Finally you are back, Sister, how have i missed you! Oh April, never forget me again! "Kaori let everything go through speechlessly, because although she did not know this woman, she felt a tremendous familiarity in her touch. Just by her presence her heart became warm and inside there was irrepressible joy. Nevertheless, she managed to get out of it loosening a tight hug and asking, confused, "I'm sorry to let you down, but I'm an only child, I don't know you. What are you talking about all the time? Could you please explain all of this to me? This is just a dream, then why does it seem so real to me? I don't understand anything anymore, I'm totally confused, I ... "The woman sighed deeply and for a tiny moment a disappointed expression came into her eyes, then she began to tell in her angelic voice."All right, April, or Kaori, as you are called in the human world. My name is Luna Kansaki, Queen of Kansano, this world, and goddess of the stars. And you, you are my beloved sister April Kansaki, guardian of the month of April Since your birth. A few centuries ago there was a war in our world that threatened to destroy everything, including the Twelve Guardians of the Months and me. With the last of my strength I drove them out, but for fear of another threat we sent you to earth . Unfortunately something went wrong and you lost your memory. I thought it was better, it stayed that way so that you can lead a normal life. But there is another danger, the holy twelve have to join forces and fight back. Therefore awakened I took the soul of their talismans, and called you here. Because only you, you alone, have the power to call the memories of others back to life. But now it's time to awaken yours. "She took her hands on the crystal chain and concentrated on it.It began to shine, sparkle and glitter, then a wafer-thin beam shot onto Kaori's chest, whereupon Kaori came true, as if her heart stopped while thousands of memories, or rather shadows of her past, hit her. While she was still recovering, she ran up to her sister and hugged her so tightly as if she would never let go of her.
"I'll send you back now! Xenovia will explain everything else to you, as you may have already noticed, it is your talisman. So let's go! And take good care of my sister, promise me!" "Yes, goddess Luna , I will. "With that she sent Kaori back into her world. Kaori woke up, full of her memories and ready to fight for her home and her sister. Nothing and no one would be able to stop her, she swore to herself in the silence of the night. From now on Xenovia would sleep by her side too, because somehow he was her new friend and as human as she was. With these thoughts she fell asleep blissfully and dreamed of the liberation of her world. She knew that she would never forget her and her sister again.
