Fanfic: At the night… our your ways met

Chapter: There is nevertheless vampires!

Chapter 2: There is nevertheless vampire!

"Man, Mai. What were you doing in the attic so late?" the mother asked her completely sleepy-looking daughter while she was feeding the 2 year old Sina.
"I ... heard noises upstairs, so I went upstairs. I just wanted to see." answered Mai and rubbed his eyes again. Her mother could only shake her head. "And now you have it." she preached while Mai yawned wearily. She had hardly slept the whole night, which was also the fault of this unusual 'visit'.
His eyes kept popping up before her eyes, as was his smile.
"Hm ... what was he looking for up there?" she muttered absently into the room, whereupon her mother looked at her questioningly. "What was it?" so she chopped up out of curiosity, but Mai quickly turned away. "Oh nothing. I have to go to school now. See you then!" she replied hastily and disappeared from the house with one tooth. Her mother looked after her puzzled, but quickly turned her attention back to little Sina, who had muddled herself full of baby food.

At school, Mai plopped down in her chair, exhausted. She was completely exhausted, tired, and sweaty too, because she had run here like a madman.
Mimi, her best friend and bank neighbor, came to her table.
"Hey Mai, you look so worn out." she said, amused, took a chair next to her and sat down next to her. "Please leave that, Mimi" replied Mai and leaned comfortably against her chair. Mimi looked at her piercingly and with a big grin on her lips.
"So? Did anything exciting happened to you yesterday?" Mimi asked her friend with indescribably great curiosity.
Mai winced slightly when she heard this question. She wasn't sure whether to tell her about her nightly visit. Actually, they could tell each other everything, but would Mimi make a fool of herself about it?"And what is now?" hacked Mimi again.
Mai nodded and when she was about to start, Markus came up to the two girls to greet the girls.
Mai thought that Markus looked particularly good today, and that is why her heart began to race slightly. She was in love with him but was too shy to tell him. Mai would have wished for nothing more ardent the moment he said hello to the girls.
On the one hand, she was also happy about his appearance, so Mimi was distracted by her question. But for how long?
"Well Markus, are you okay?" Mimi asked the brown-haired boy, whereupon he smiled. "Of course, and with you?" he asked the counter-question and looked Mai straight in the eye. Mai had the feeling when she saw his brown eyes that she would float like on clouds.
She felt uncomfortable with this feeling. Her cheeks were turning a little red, so she looked at the floor, embarrassed.
Markus just shouldn't notice this. But someone else noticed - Mimi. This grinned quite noticeably in their direction, so that Mai felt even worse.
She pleaded that he would finally go. In the end he did because he was called by a classmate. He said goodbye to the two girls and went on his way.
When he went out the door, Mai looked after him dreamily and Mimi noticed.
"You should tell him." she said, whereupon Mai looked indignantly into her eyes.
"No, I can not do that." she replied sadly and laid her head on the table top. Mimi looked down at her questioningly. "Why not? There's nothing to it. You have nothing to lose." Mimi said played seriously and rocked back and forth on her chair.
"Oh no? And what if he doesn't like me at all?" replied Mai, slightly annoyed, and slowly sat up again as the teacher came into the class.
"Well." sighed Mimi, got up and went to her seat.
Now the long, agonizing class began and Mai should actually concentrate on the tasks that the teacher had given her, but her thoughts were elsewhere. She behaved so unfocused for most of the hours until Mimi spoke to her again about her previous question in the schoolyard. Mai grabbed her friend and gently pulled her into a quiet corner where they could talk undisturbed.
It was very difficult for her to talk about it, but once it was out, Mai immediately felt much better.
Mimi, on the other hand, was pretty shocked. "What, there was a strange man in your attic last night ?!" she let out in horror while both girls were on their way home. Mai nodded silently and went on, next to her a still stunned Mimi.
Mai had suspected that she would be so upset.
"My goodness, Mai! The guy could have killed you, do you realize that? !!"
Mai nodded again without saying anything. Somehow she was right. The guy could really have killed her, but was that what he really meant to do?
Mai also told her that he had strange fangs, indicating a vampire."Oh nonsense! There are no vampires!" was Mimi's honest answer, and Mai agreed. There were no vampires, just someone had allowed himself a joke. At least that was the only logical explanation for it.

Mais and Mimi's common path ended at a huge intersection. They said goodbye to each other and went their own way.
When she got home, her mother sat horrified in front of the television and watched the news.
Mai approached her unnoticed, not taking her eyes from the television, where an interesting report was just coming. The spokesman said that bloodless bodies of people, mostly children, were found in many parts of the city. Typically, they all had two holes on the side of the neck and a strange mark on the forehead.
The population was therefore asked to take special care of their children. Apparently it was the same killer as had been before.
Mai immediately thought of the man last night. His long fangs let everything close.
"How terrible...!" Mai whispered, aghast, when they faded in the picture of a young, blond-haired girl who was one of the victims on TV. This girl didn't look much older than she did.
Mai had to swallow and her mother was no better either. When she turned to her daughter, she was startled, but gathered herself again and looked Mai seriously in the eyes.
"Dear, could you maybe go shopping quickly? As long as it is still light." she asked and Mai nodded as if in a trance.
The mother gave her some money and told her to hurry up.
So Mai set out when it was getting dark and her pulse was beating incredibly fast. She got really scared this time.
As she stepped out of the supermarket with a huge plastic bag, she met a violent gust of wind that got terribly under her skin.
She quickly made her way back home. She didn't want to be outside at this time, especially not now that the sun had completely set.She walked attentively through the streets until she passed a playground. She stopped when she saw a motionless figure, a girl with blond hair, sitting on the swing.
She got closer to it, about to nudge it, when the girl suddenly jumped up to her and clung to her jacket.
Mai looked startled into her eyes. She noticed that they had the same eye color as the boy last night. It didn’t matter to her that it was the girl from the television who was found bloodless somewhere and should actually be dead.
"Please ... give me your blood ... I need blood ...!" the blonde girl breathed heavily and let her snow-white fangs peek out.
Mai shuddered as the girl lowered her head to her neck.
What was it going to do?
"Give me ... your blood ... !!" ordered it and Mai saw that her face was getting paler and paler. There was also a strange mark on her forehead.
It looked like a ... cherry blossom. The girl was dangerously close to Mai's throat, and when she could feel her breath a loud scream slipped from her dry throat.
At last...
The blonde-haired girl fell to the ground, as did Mai. Before her eyes she saw the same figure as that night.
The strange boy had come and saved her. He pulled a dagger out of his leather coat and stabbed the girl with one blow, causing the girl to crumble into ashes.
That was too much for poor May.
She passed out and saw nothing but blackness in front of her eyes.
