Chapter 3: Questions and answer
When Mai woke up, she was not on the cold sidewalk floor as expected, but in her soft bed. She blinked around in confusion. She couldn't understand why she was here all of a sudden. Had she only dreamed all of this from last night?
"Finally May, you woke up!" replied the mother happily, who had been sitting by her daughter's bed the whole time. Overjoyed, she took Mai in her arms. A short time later she let go of her and smiled at her. Mai didn't understand any of this, she really wanted to know how she got here.
"Mom, what ... actually happened? How ... did I get here?" Mai asked a short time later, as she could no longer hold back her curiosity.
Her mother smiled again and stroked her hair.
"A young man brought you here." she replied curtly and rose from the chair she had been sitting in all along.
"A young man ...?" repeated Mai, puzzled, and looked at her mother, who had come to the door. She nodded and was about to step outside when Mai asked her something again.
"How did he look?" the girl with the blonde hair wanted to know to clarify, as a lot of question marks still haunted her head. Her mother looked at her and scratched her head and started thinking. Mai waited anxiously for her answer.
"He ... was wearing a black leather coat or something and ..." she thought hard about it, while Mai's eyes widened more and more with tension. "Yes...?!" Mai breathed her nerves at the end and her eyes threatened to fall.
"Oh ... yes, there was something else ...!" replied the mother confidently, and Mai's heart inevitably began to beat quickly. "Yes, what ?!" she urged indignantly because her mother took so long to answer.
After a while it came back to her mind, you might even have thought that something had dawned on her.
"The young man who brought you here had really unusual eyes.I had never seen such a thing in my entire life ... So extraordinary ... "
replied the mother, as if she had completely stepped away when she remembered the strange eyes that they tried to see through.
Mai was shocked and made exactly that impression. She went white as a sheet, which her mother noticed after she was back in reality.
"Is everything ok?" she asked worriedly and thus brought Mai back out of her rigidity.
"No, no, everything is fine!" log Mai played happily to make her mother's worries go away. In fact, she believed her daughter and was reassured.
"I'll get you something to eat and drink. You should lie down. The doctor said you needed a lot of sleep, so you better get some rest." said the mother thoughtfully, like a mother, and disappeared from the room.
Sighing, Mai fell into her pillow and wrapped herself tightly in her blanket. She turned to the white wall and stared at it for a long time, as if hypnotized."Who is this guy? Why did he save me?" she asked herself in silence, closed her eyelids and quickly sank into the land of the sandman.
She blinked her eyes wearily when she heard her mother's voice. She stood in front of her bed and smiled down at her. Mai rubbed her eyes and sat up, yawning. Then she turned back to her mother, who had brought her out of her soothing sleep.
She looked at them sleepily with her violet eyes.
"What is it?" asked Mai and yawned again. Her mother's smile suddenly turned into a broad grin, which Mai didn't like at all. Only when she looked at her one more time did she realize that she was holding a tray in her hands.
"Here, some cookies and a cup of tea. They will do you good." replied the mother in a soft voice and carefully placed the tray on her daughter's lap.
"There ... thanks." replied Mai, a little irritated, ate a few cookies and drank the tea."I-gitt, that tastes disgusting!" Lena breathed angrily as she took a sip of the tea. It was chamomile tea, which she didn't like at all. Her mother grinned nastily when she saw her daughter's disgusted face.
"That is drunk ..." she ordered with a smile and took a seat on the chair next to the bed.
"It's healthy. Well, don't you feel like that ...!" the mother giggled as she saw Mai visibly forced the tea into it. Her daughter felt like she vomited with every sip. So she was happy and a little annoyed when she had finally drunk it.
"So was that that bad?" asked her mother, amused. Mai nodded angrily, put the empty cup and the plate with the biscuits back on the tray, and placed them next to her bed.
Suddenly the door opened from the outside and 2 people entered. It was Markus and Mimi who wanted to pay a little visit to Mai. As soon as Mai and Markus looked each other in the eye, they turned red, which Mimi expressed with a giggle. Her mother got up, said hello to them, and then left the room. Mimi and Markus came to her bed and asked about her well-being.
"And how are you? You will come back to school tomorrow, won't you? Without you it is way too boring there!" Mimi explained and sat down next to her embarrassed friend on the bed. Mai nodded, but did not look up because she was afraid that Markus might notice her embarrassment, although he too looked a little ashamed at the floor. Going to see a girl and then finding her in bed, too, was very uncomfortable for him.
Still, he didn't really show that fact. But Mai, whose head already resembled a rotating beacon.
Mimi knew how uncomfortable her friend was and drew conclusions from it.
"Come on Markus, let's go!" she said to him, grabbed his arm and dragged him to the door.
"See you tomorrow, May." she replied before she disappeared from the room with him."Phew ...!" Mai thought, relieved, and plopped down on her pillow again. She was happy and grateful that Mimi and Markus had left and closed her eyes smiling.
At some point, sleep caught up with her again, while her mother opened one of her windows late in the evening to let fresh air into the room.
Unfortunately she forgot to close it again and soon after that night came.
A cool wind blew through the walls of her room and carried the quiet whispered words to her bed.
Mai woke up with a jerk when she heard the clatter of a vase that had fallen on her desk due to a strong gust of wind.
She looked around the room with half-open eyes, searched for the cause of her sudden awakening and was startled.
She looked into his eyes, which held her under his spell ..
Never let go again ...
They held her prisoner.
Mai couldn't move when she saw him. He sat next to her on the chair and looked at her mercilessly. There was the same smile on his lips as that night in the attic.
Mai's heart raced, it took her breath away. Without really meaning to, she began to tremble as his rigid form, sitting casually on the chair, moved.
Mai felt the urge to scream, but the attempt was crushed when he pressed his rough but pleasant hand over her mouth. He pressed her on her pillow, not in a way that hurt her, of course. But Mai felt a strange sense of fear as his lips pressed against her ear.
When she then heard his truly sensual voice, which put her into a trance, a strange tingling sensation spread across her stomach, which she couldn't explain.
"Be calm. One scream and you are dead." he breathed calmly into her ears and Mai immediately got goose bumps. But she knew that he would carry out this threat, so she did as she was told.
She nodded a few times to signal that she had accepted his terms.Immediately he let go of her. Mai sat up while she didn’t leave his eyes, which fascinated but frightened her.
She didn't know how long they'd sat there and just looked at each other, but it felt like forever. His friendly expression had turned serious when he continued to look at her and she could suddenly feel his hand on her cheek.
Her pulse raced immeasurably as he ran his hand down her neck and stayed there. Mai had no idea why, but she didn't notice anything anymore. Neither fear nor fear ... nor anything else.
She just enjoyed feeling his touch and closed her eyes. He noticed how she relaxed and grinned broadly.
Then he took it off her and Mai opened her eyes in confusion. She looked at him and realized what she had actually done. She blushed and looked at her blanket, embarrassed, until he lifted her chin slightly with his finger and she was forced to look him in the eye.Mai felt his hot breath on her face as he got closer to hers. She noticed how he studied her eyes carefully. It almost looked like he was looking for something in them.
But what?
Mai was breathing heavily as he neared her throat, but paused a moment later. Now he looked her in the eye again and smiled.
"Don't worry ..." he whispered reassuringly and stroked her long, blonde hair.
"I'm not going to kill you. At least not yet." he assured her, but Mai viewed this 'promise' with skepticism.
Why didn't he kill her on the spot, he would have had the opportunity!
Mai was confused, even more than before.
"Why don't you kill me right now. Now ... nobody's here." she mumbled in a shaky voice and only when she had said these words did she remember what nonsense she had just told him. She could be glad it didn't want to kill her, and what is she doing ?!She even offers it to him!
Mai understood what she had just been talking about and looked fearfully into his brown eyes.
He laughed and brushed a few strands from her face.
"You stupid thing. Do you want to die?" he asked with amusement, whereupon Mai just shook his head.
"Well then. I don't kill people who don't really want to die. I don't kill people indiscriminately, you see?" he replied calmly and Mai nodded again.
He leaned back in the chair, not taking his eyes off Mai, and folded his arms behind his head.
There was silence, it was so overwhelming. Finally Mai couldn't take it any longer and began to ask him a few questions.
"Are ... you a vampire?" she asked cautiously, but she hardly felt any fear. He laughed again, with a nod. So he made it clear to her that her assumptions were correct.
Undeterred, she
