Chapter 5
It rained. Ukyo yawned and turned to Ryoga.
"Say, couldn't we skip training today?"
She grinned when she noticed his uncomfortable look.
"Unless you want to run around as a little pig today."
The lost boy froze.
"That's it!"
He laughed out loud.
"Ukyo, you are a genius."
She stared at him puzzled.
"I know, but why do you come up with it now?"
"If I transform myself, the bracelet would have to fall off, because I'm a lot smaller as P-Chan."
The young woman nodded.
"That should work."
Ryoga grinned broadly and nodded to her.
"What do you think of a little walk in the rain?"
She sighed.
"Not much, my pretty, but you won't rest after all."Ukyo stood up.
"Well then let's go ..."
5 minutes later.
Ryoga knelt on the floor and stared at his hands in disbelief.
"I'm not transforming? Am I rid of the curse ...?"
Ukyo grabbed his shoulder.
"It's probably because of the bracelets. If they are magical, as Cologne said, they should prevent us from separating ..."
The lost boy looked up.
"... then you prevent me from transforming?"
She nodded.
Ryoga didn't know whether to be happy.
* I won't turn into P-chan for a month. I can't leave Ukyo for that ... Do I even want to leave? *
"Hey, come on, let's go back inside. We have to clean the place."
The chef took him by the hand and pulled him up.
"Looks like we have to pull through the time."
She playfully dragged him to the bar and Ryoga had to smile.
"Ukyo ..."
She turned to him.
"Yes?"
"What would you say if we left the place today? And just turned it blue?"She gasped for air.
"... and who should pay my rent? Ryoga, I have to live on something."
Ukyo broke off when she looked at the broadly grinning boy.
"Is 100,000 enough to keep the business closed for a while?"
Her lower jaw dropped down.
"Nani?"
The two were in their room.
Ukyo stared at the pile of money in disbelief. After Ryoga had pulled a large bundle of banknotes out of his backpack, put half of them on the table and winked at her with a still broad grin.
"Where ... how ... where from?" stuttered this.
"Where did you get all the money from, Ryoga?"
"Well, earned on the way," he said with a shrug.
"How?!?"
The lost boy reached into his backpack again and pulled out a few photos.
The master chef looked through these.
Destroyed and collapsed houses could be seen on it, mostly with him standing next to it and making the victory sign.
"I work for demolition companies from time to time and help level out old buildings."He looked at her and malicious lights were reflected in his eyes.
"If I can do one thing, it's breaking things. At some point last year I thought that one could make money with it ..."
Ukyo's mouth twitched and she started laughing uproariously.
"Ryoga, you crook!"
She gasped for air.
"You just make me laugh there."
He nodded to her.
"So could I persuade you to keep this business open for a while?"
Still smiling, she nodded to him too.
*Who would have thought that? He's got more up his sleeve than anyone thought ... *
"Um, Ukyo, I have one more request. Don't tell Nabiki about it. Otherwise I'll probably be in trouble. Who knows what she would do if she did."
He broke off and Ukyo shook himself briefly.
When she introduced herself, Nabiki Tendo on free feet, since Ryoga would be a good match with his money ...
"It's okay, I definitely won't say anything."She exhaled and said dryly: "I don't really have to have Nabiki around here and listen to money-investing opportunities."
Both shivered briefly.
"And my handsome? What did you imagine you would be doing today?"
"Uh, yes, maybe a meal together? A movie or something?"
Ryoga looked at her, embarrassed.
"Hey big guy, that's a great idea."
Ukyo began to smile mischievously.
"But we should clarify one thing, my handsome."
"What?" the prodigal boy frowned in confusion.
"I don't kiss anyone on a first date."
Ryoga gasped and blushed bright red while Ukyo winked teasingly at him.
-----
There was silence over the woods. The moon shone harmoniously down on them.
"I just don't believe it!"
Two lonely figures stood in a lonely clearing and looked around.
"Ryoga, how could I have been persuaded to leave with you. AAArrrgggghhhh !!!"
He glared at Ukyo.
"What can I do for it!I thought you knew the way to the cinema and followed you. "
She sighed.
"Actually, I followed you. You started off so purposefully and I assumed ..."
The chef broke off.
* Suppose Ryoga - Mr. Disoriented - knows the way? I should have known. The poor guy can't help it, * she finished her sentence in her mind.
"And what are we doing now?"
The lost boy looked contrite.
"I imagined going out together differently."
"Hey, big guy, we'll find our way out of here."
Her anger evaporated and she had to smile.
* Lost on the way to the cinema ... Somebody has to imitate us. And the whole thing on a straight road. *
"Tell me, your bad sense of direction is not contagious, is it?"
Ryoga opened his eyes.
"Uhhh."
Ukyo waved it off.
"Forget it, I was joking."
He snorted through his nose and looked at the floor.
"Fortunately it's warmer now, otherwise we'd be really in trouble," she said dryly."Could you stop fooling around on the subject?" muttered the prodigal boy.
She shook her head.
"No, but I guess we should be heading in one direction and this time I will be leading."
Then the two set off, Ukyo in advance, with a grumbling Ryoga in tow.
Two hours later....
The two stared at the weathered-looking tea house.
It looked empty and deserted, a sign hung crooked on its hook, somehow it was creepy here.
They went to the sign and read the name with big eyes.
"To the blood-red lotus"?
"Who calls that a tea house? * Muttered Ukyo.
The lost boy froze.
"That name ... I could swear ..."
He looked around thoughtfully.
* I'm not sure, but I think ... *
"Hey, big guy!"
He was torn from his thoughts by her.
"What's going on? You had such a glassy look for a moment. Everything okay?"
Embarrassed, he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yes, but you know ... it may sound strange, but I know the place from where."Ukyo looked at him.
"You must be mistaken. Nobody has been here for years, if not for decades."
He sighed.
"You are probably right. We should take a look at the house anyway. It is quite late and we will probably have to spend the night here."
Slowly they entered the old tea house and stopped in surprise.
As uninviting as it was from outside, the inside was clean and well-kept. The rooms were dark, but large and airy and in the middle of the main room was a futon with two pillows. Next to it was a small table on which two kimonos lay.
"What ..." Ryoga stammered.
"Somebody has to live here. But from the outside I would never have believed it."
Ukyo leaned over to the robes and studied them.
"They should fit you both, but you should try them on to be sure," said a voice from behind them.
Both spun around.
Before them stood a little old woman with snow-white hair and red eyes. She smiled kindly.
"I've been expecting you."
Ryoga's jaw slammed down. He raised his fingers.
"You are ... you are ..."
"Zzz zzz zzz, Ryoga ....", said the old woman with a smile, "is that the way you greet your grandmother?"
Two fangs flashed in her mouth.
Ukyo opened his eyes.
"Nani?"
-----
The old woman looked amused at the two young people who were staring at her with wide eyes.
Ukyo was the first to get hold of himself.
"You are - his grandmother?"
She had to admit that there were resemblances, although the old lady looked more like Cologne if she were half a meter taller and had fangs, but something about the style reminded her a lot of Ryoga.
He shook his head.
"Grandmother, it really is you. I remember ..."
She smiled broadly and her red eyes lit up mischievously.
"Yes, my little one, it really is me. You grew up."
She turned to Ukyo and eyed her benevolently."And your girlfriend is a really pretty girl. I'm proud of you my boy."
Both blushed.
"Hey, wait a minute grandmother, it's not what you think," Ryoga began to speak.
This only pointed to the bracelets.
"If it weren't for that, I would be very surprised. After all, you wear Amazon bracelets and these are usually only used by couples."
Ryoga's jaw dropped down.
"Where from ...", he stuttered, while Ukyo just looked silently with big eyes at the old woman.
"Oh, you pick up a lot," she giggled.
"You know, grandson, I haven't seen you in a long time. And that's why I wanted to visit you again."
Ukyo raised his eyebrows.
"Visit him? But actually it's the other way around."
Ryoga and his grandmother looked at the master cook. The prodigal boy with an embarrassed look, while in the old lady's eyes there was only great amusement.
"So she doesn't know? Ryoga, didn't you tell her?"This drew in the air.
"It didn't turn out."
"What didn't he tell me?" Ukyo asked impatiently.
"Well, my child, I think it would be good if you found out too. After all, you're his girlfriend."
The two young people sighed, knowing that the old woman would not accept anything else.
"I met Ryoga's grandfather about 60 years ago. He got lost and ran into me while I was looking at the upper world. I originally planned to play with him a little and then kill him, but he turned out to be than harder than I assumed and gradually we fell in love. "
Now it was Ukyo’s turn to look at the old woman in disbelief and shake her head.
"Kill him? What do you mean?"
"You can call me Ukyo. What I meant? Exactly. You know, I'm a demon, more precisely a demon princess and that was a thing with Ryoga's
