Like every morning, Sayuri and Mariah meet to go to school together. Finally they no longer had school uniforms. They could now wear what they wanted. Sayuri and Mariah were the first to come with mini skirts. As they neared the school gate, the boys whistled after them. In the school yard they were stopped by Sara, the head girl. "You will see what it will bring you if you walk around in those skirts." Sayuri and Mariah ignored her. This drove Sara to white heat. She hated being treated like air. The two friends went into the school building. The 5th grade boys immediately followed them. That didn't bother the girls much. Undeterred, they went to their class. There they met Miss Ober-Zicke again. She said, "Why don't you turn around you chicks." "Why should we listen to you?" said Sayuri back. When the doorbell rang, they sat down in their seats. Mr. Kudo was not long in coming.While doing homework, Sayuri and Mariah realized that they had left them in the locker. They got permission to get her. They didn't pay attention to the way and Sayuri bumped into someone. She fell on her bum and Mariah had to laugh. Sayuri was offered a hand and that someone helped her up. She thanked her and apologized again for not paying attention. It turned out to be the new ones at their school. They introduced themselves. Their names were Tyson Kinomiya, Max Mizuhara, Ray Kon and Kai Hiwatari. The girls also introduced themselves and then quickly went to the locker.
