"Freefall"

Every day was routine: getting up, having breakfast, going to school, then doing homework and finally sleeping. The weekend, on the other hand, is very funny. We all met and went to the clubs. It had been some time since the last tournament. Despite our dispersal, we met for two days. Those days were ours. The homework suffered, but the teachers had to live with it. Now was one of those days again. The 'short vacation' began with the end of school. Now it was time to eat, move, go. This time we met earlier. The fair was in town and once we wanted to go over there together.I finished quickly and went off. I was sure to be the first at our meeting point. Like every year we chose the "Free Fall", one of the biggest roller coasters. Contrary to expectations, someone was already there. I ran up to Tea, waving. “Tea!” She turned around. "Oh - Hi Joey." Si eyed me. "Do you have anything else to do? You seldom see you dressed that well." "Well - um .." "Well, who is it ?!" "No-nobody." "And that's why you dressed up like that ?!" She looked at me skeptically. "But yourself, yes?" I examined her extensively. Blood shot in her face. Who did it manage to upset her like that? I couldn't ask her any more as the others came up to us. "Hi, Joey. Hi, Tea." I looked down at Yugi. Next to him, I greeted everyone else. Finally, I saw the woman who quickened my pulse, pushed my heart to the limit of its capacity. She was talking to Tea and my sister with her back to me. The light wind made the blond hair fly, the sun made it glitter.I looked at her carefully, soaking up every little detail. Suddenly there was a brown head in my eyes. Irritated, I changed the range of my eyes and looked at the troublemaker. Tristan looked me up and down with skepticism. "Well, someone has something else to do?" He looked me in the eye, a small grin on his lips. The color of my face was sure to turn a little redder than I wanted. "You shouldn't have had to perk up just for me." "Please - WHAT ?!" I stared at Tristan in his grinning face in disbelief. How I would have loved to erase that from him now, but since the rest of our group had drawn their full attention to us, I let it go. Would just be stress anyway. "Doesn't our little blond boy look cute? He made it especially for me." "It's not funny!" I hissed at him softly but threateningly. I definitely didn't find it funny! Especially since a certain girl had her facial features derailed and then her facial expressions suddenly changed.Had that idiot who, until now, at least, scolded himself at my friend hurt her? If so, he could experience something!
Certain someone was scurrying through my hair, beaming with joy. And today they sat well. I could have howled ... A look that could easily have competed with even our dear businessman, who was also there, and Tristan finally took his hands off me. It's lucky, I wouldn't have known what else I would have done.
I looked for Mai, but at the point where she was standing, all you could see was her back - and a guy! It was easy - on our day! I couldn't believe it. And with someone else too - yes, okay, I'll admit, I was jealous! I wanted to go out with her, I wanted to make her laugh and not that .. that .. that one! To my chagrin, "that one" turned out to be Seto Kaiba, a millionaire. How should I keep up with that ..? With every step they took, my heart broke into smaller pieces. The rest of our troop had recovered and together we strolled through the fair, shot here and there at the various shooting galleries at plates, dartboards and other stuff and in the end had a lot of stuffed animals and plastic roses in our hands. Tea and my sister drove different carousels - both of them were almost grown up. But they clearly enjoyed it. A sight for the gods, I tell you.
After - I don't even know how long we were on the road - we came back to the starting point. We looked up in awe, although I've preferred to stay away from Tristan since the incident earlier. Every year the "free fall" seemed to get a little higher or did it just seem like that to us? At least we had never dared to ride this thing, which was sure to climb a meter.
It was probably thanks to the mulled wine that was sold everywhere here and that we had already consumed a lot of it that the little ones had the idea of finally driving this monster. The proposal was accepted with a laugh. “We're coming too!” Two figures approached. I couldn't see them exactly in the prevailing semi-darkness. Finally, Kaiba and Mai caught up with us. Nobody seemed to notice her holding hands.
The line in front of the roller coaster was huge. But it was also to be expected, after all, the "free fall" was the attraction and attracted crowds like nothing else at the fair. So Mai, Kaiba, Tristan, Yugi, Yami, Tea, Serenity and Duke stood at the end and waited patiently for the row to move forward. I was given the task of taking care of our things. I was happy to be able to stop here. A strange feeling advised me from this trip. I tried to convince the others not to drive it, but they just said I was just scared and dragged another piece in the queue with them. So I could only wait and hope that it was really just fear that was currently inhabiting my stomach. And I wouldn't have been me if I wasn't mistaken. It got even worse than I could have imagined. Sometimes I really couldn't understand how someone, when there were nearly seven billion people, brought so much unhappiness with them. Always frightening. But back to my story ..

I looked up uncomfortably at this steel and electric cable monster. Maybe I just told myself this fear and everything was quite harmless? Hundreds of people had already driven it and nothing had happened. Nothing would happen now. But I didn't believe what I said. Something told me that there was a possibility of a mistake. The possibility of electronics failing, screw loosening, anything. Even if the probability was pretty slim, it was there - and that didn't improve the situation.
Suddenly there was a dull noise, a brief terrible crunch, then everything was quiet.I looked around. What happened? The roller coaster in front of me stood still, nothing moved anymore. They must have arrived. At least that's what I thought until I saw five wagons in one of the loops, pointing perpendicular to the earth. My heart stopped for a moment, then continued to beat at double the speed. My little hope that they were in a different team grew smaller and smaller when they still hadn't stepped out of the exit after two minutes. I was getting scared. What if they were really sitting in this thing that was not exactly a few meters above the ground and not held by but two thin metal rails? What if they crashed? Okay, Joey, take it easy. Nothing would happen. Something had to end well once !? I nervously chewed my lower lip and kneaded my sweaty hands.
An unpleasant 'RUMS' rang out and my eyes immediately found their way back to the wagons. The first screams came from inside her too.One thing was clear, none of those present would ever forget this trip.
Inwardly, I continued to hope that everything was just harmless. A power failure, for example. But with every second that passed, I believed less and less in the luck I had hoped for.
Downpour joined in and suddenly sparks sprayed from one of the cables laid in the rails. The control panel on Earth went up in flames seconds later with a loud bang. The panic and worry about my friends now completely took control of my body. I began to shiver uncontrollably as the flames kept rising and people shouting names in desperate panic. As if that would help them ...
Somebody had called the police, ambulance, ambulance and fire department. At least they were just arriving, and I sincerely hoped they could make a difference. My hope that this situation could end well after all vanished. The fire below the rack continued to spread. The heat was slowly becoming unbearable, and I wasn't even standing very close to the small metal fence that bordered the area of the "Free Fall". The red sea must have been among my friends. I could only guess, the high flames blocked the view and where they did not rage, the thick smoke blocked the view of the people in the middle of the fire.
Due to the heat generated by the Falmmen, the firefighters could not even get to the flames and the fire-fighting aircraft that were called in could not drop their rescue cargo because of the heavy smoke development.
In this position I did something I hadn't done in a long, very long time. I fell to my knees, trembling all over, and prayed. Prayed to God not to punish my friends for whatever I had done.
The screams got louder, more desperate - my hands tightened further. Hot tears welled from the corner of my eye, dripped onto the floor. When I raised my eyes I heard another bang, louder than anyone else before, followed by desperate cries for help. The metal, or the steel, I don't know, could no longer withstand the heat of the fire and the weight of the wagons, and had collapsed. All five fell. The screams stopped. The people standing next to me held their breath in shock. What happened was what everyone knew but no one had hoped for. Now their hopes of saving these people, their families, friends, my friends, from living, also vanished.

Seven people died. Yami and Duke did not survive this accident either. They died of their burns on the way to the hospital. The others came to the hospital with third-degree burns and severe smoke inhalation. The accident turned out to be sabotage.
