Chapter 8
-The awakening-

"Akane? Hey, you can't just sleep." Ranma had been sitting by her bed for two days now, watching over her. Nobody could convince him to leave her alone. He held her hand, spoke to her, and blamed himself.
This thought haunted him, even to sleep. He kept asking this question, but the only person who can give him an answer does not wake up.
"Ranma? There's something to eat here." Kasumi entered the room and sat down next to the boy.
"How are you?" She asked.
"Well," he just looked at her, then began to eat. The two sat next to each other in silence and looked down at Akane."Why did she do that" asked Ranma quietly.
"Made what?"
"So changed? Why did she go and let someone else take her place? Did she want to go?"
"I don't know, Ranma. But she will wake up, you just have to believe it, call her. Do you love her?" Kasumi looked at him and a smile appeared on her face as he blushed and began to stutter.
"Then tell her when she wakes up and tell her that you love who she was and not who she has become." Then the girl got up and left Ranma alone in the room.
But he didn’t pursue this thought any further, but thought of Akane again.
"Akane, wake up now. I want you back."
But she didn't move, just slept on. A small tear landed on the girl's hand and immediately another followed.
Ranma wiped his face, but he couldn't suppress the tears.The days turned into weeks, and those into a month. Akane still hadn't moved, only the machines that added water and nutrients to her were kept alive.
Ranma was still sitting with her, holding her hand and pleading that she would wake up. The rest of the family had resumed their old life as much as possible, and Ranma refused to do either.
The girl slowly opened her eyes. she wondered and tried to move.
"Akane?" The boy whispered, squeezing her hand.
“Ranma?” Her voice was rough and her throat hurt as she said the words.
"At last." He smiled at her, but then his face was covered with anger.
"What did you think? You could have died. Why did you want to change, you stupid cow." Tofu in and sent the angry and relieved boy out and took care of Akane.
When the girl was alone she stared at the ceiling and the tears ran from her eyes. she wiped her eyes.
"Akane?" The boy entered the room quietly.
"Are you very angry?" she asked softly, since her voice was still not entirely normal.
"No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you." He sat down next to her and took his hand.
"Ranma, I .." she coughed and he shook his head ..
"It's okay, you should take it easy, said Dr. Tofu. Then you can go home tomorrow. What do you think if we train together? Then you will regain your strength."
"I don't fight anymore."
"Why not? You're a good fighter." He looked at her blankly.
“It doesn't suit me.” She closes her eyes so she doesn't have to look at him anymore.
"I want you back", Ranma begins softly, so softly that she can hardly understand him. She slowly opens her eyes again, but he doesn't look at her.
"I want you to be okay, Akane. Forever."

"I love you, but just like you used to be. Because that's not how you are my Akane." He looked at her and her smile lit up his heart. Here she was, the person who could completely banish his loneliness until his parents were back and the person with whom he could start a family of his own.
"Then I'll go," said the girl softly and a small tear ran down her face, but Ranma caught it with her finger."And when your Akane come back."
"Then do we train together?"
"Yes gladly."
"Then we are a couple now?" The girl nodded and Ranma leaned down to her. When their lips met, it seemed to both of them as if there was lightning around them and applause was clapped.
When they broke away from each other, they realized that there was real clapping and that the lightning bolts belonged to a photo apprentice that was not operated by anyone other than Nabiki.
"That will bring in something. Kuno will pay a lot for this information and the school newspaper pays for the photo too." Laughing, she went out of the room and went on to do the business of her life.
