Still completely perplexed, Kouga slowly walked to the ledge.
"This demoness ... is unlike any I've ever seen ..." he thought and looked over his shoulder back at the strange wolf demon, who was studying the landscape with interest. He looked back at the path again.
"I should get the answer to my questions up there at the latest.", Thought Kouga.
Amaya looked curiously at the landscape that presented itself to her. Everything was so much more fertile and welcoming here than in her home. Everything seemed to live in peace here, although this was disturbed by the occasional fighting. Amaya looked ahead. She immediately thought that the ledge had to be big and inhabited, but that big? With every step she took, she felt smaller and more insignificant in the face of this awe-inspiring rock formation. The sound of the waterfall grew louder and louder, but to Amaya's astonishment it didn't deaden her hearing.
Ginta let himself fall back as inconspicuously as possible until he finally ran next to Miyako."So? How do you like our country?" He asked.
Miyako stared at Ginta for a moment, then replied, "It's ... different from ours ... I don't know how to describe it ..." Kouga pricked up his ears. He wanted, had to find out as much as possible about the two demonesses. On the one hand, because he could then decide whether they were a danger to his pack or not, on the other hand, because he wanted to find out something about them himself. He was particularly interested in the older one.
"She didn't seem to be afraid of my threatened death at all ..." mused Kouga.
"You shouldn't describe it either, Miyako. You should just answer his question.", Amaya interrupted her sister. Kouga turned around. The older sister pointedly looked away from her younger one. This fell silent immediately and went on close to Amaya on the way. Ginta seemed taken by surprise as it hadn't been for a long time.
"Why does she always choke off what her little sister tries to say?", Kouga wondered.
In the meantime they had reached the rock wall on which the ledge lay. Kouga turned left and immediately followed a narrow path that went to the right and led steeply uphill. Miyako and Amaya followed with increasing distance. At some point, just before they reached the ledge, Kouga turned around in annoyance.
"What's going on? You should at least try to keep up!" He called to the two demons.
Amaya then looked up at him and said dryly: "We just wanted to admire the landscape that is under your rule." Again Kouga had to wonder about the older sister. He was silent and went on, leaving the two of them behind.
After just a few more steps, the five reached the platform that formed a huge ledge. Occasionally wolves sat in shady corners and licked themselves clean or were petted by wolf demons.A cave entrance, which was as wide as the ledge itself, invited to enter. The oval shape of the ledge made it possible to overlook the entire country and to spot enemies very early on.
All wolves like wolf demons looked up when Kouga, Ginta and Hakkaku entered the ledge. This was not unusual, but the crowd that was on top of it was amazed when two more wolf demons suddenly stepped onto the ledge. Everyone's eyes widened and most of the wolf demons rushed to the strangers to circle them. Kouga laughed to herself. He had expected this reaction.
"I'm curious how you want to get out of it.", He thought, amused, and turned around. There was no way he wanted to miss what was going to happen. However, he had clearly miscalculated with regard to Amaya's reaction ...
The demons had closed a very close circle around Amaya and Miyako and looked at them both like cattle at an auction. Amaya noticed this immediately and her discomfort grew as quickly as her anger at these obvious idiots."Kouga, what are the two of them for? For dinner?" Asked a demon bluntly. Amaya let out a derogatory 'pff'. Kouga was having a great time and when there was no answer to the question, a new one rang out: "Are you there to reproduce?"
That was definitely too much for Amaya. If there was one thing she hated dying, it was when anyone even jokingly presumed that she was their mate for reproduction.
Angrily she shouted, "No damn it !!! We're here to talk to your lead wolf !!!"
"Anyone can say that!" It rang out. Kouga grinned broadly and figured that he wasn't going to free her from the crowd just yet. Just because of the audacity earlier. A mistake.
Shortly after someone had said something incomprehensible, a demon from the front row prepared to throw Amaya over his shoulder and then carry him into the cave. Now it was finally over. Angry beyond measure, Amaya clenched her hand into a fist and gave the demon who wanted to put her over the shoulder a powerful blow. The demon staggered back and held his cheek. Kouga had jumped up and made her way through the crowd of demons to the two strangers.
Angry and surprised at the same time, he stood up in front of Amaya.
"What are you thinking of?!?!?", He called, without noticing that he was using the stranger. Amaya ignored this and simply answered the question.
"It's your own fault! You should teach your demons some manners! Oh, I forgot! You can't do that because you don't own them!" left a puzzled Kouga and a confused Miyako.
Amaya's steps became faster and faster. She hurried along the ledge to the other end and ran down a beaten path. She did not memorize either the path she was taking or the landscape around her. The only thing she wanted now was: away! Get away from these low race idiots! How could they be so rude? And then to ask such a stupid question! These Stone Age people didn't even know how to treat a woman, let alone that they made sure NOT to get into the taboo zones.
Kouga stood there for a few seconds, then slowly began to move. With every step he took, he got faster until he finally ran. He had to go after this impossible demon. He had granted her an audience and she would have one. What he would do to her afterwards would definitely not be to her delight ...
Amaya kept walking until the path suddenly widened and led to the waterfall. Without slowing down the pace in the slightest, she walked straight towards the waterfall. Individual drops fell on her as she walked further and further towards the waterfall. She paused a few inches in front of him, then plunged into the curtain of water. The cool water lay flattering on her skin to wander along it.Her hair was completely soaked, and so was her clothes. But Amaya didn't care. Facing the sky, so that the water hit it with full force and refreshment, she just stood there. There was something calming about the cool water and her anger evaporated faster than it had come. Amaya had always kept it that way: when her temperament, which was like a curse for her, got away with her, she jumped into a river or stood under a waterfall, so that the anger that had built up along with any dirt from the water could be carried away. Oddly enough, this has always worked ...
Kouga was already imagining the cruelest 'punishments' when he reached the waterfall. He slid to a halt. The picture he saw was just strange, but somehow ... appealing. Amaya stood in the middle of the curtain of the waterfall and held out her face, which looked completely relaxed. Her hair and fur were soaked through and outrageously conformed to her perfect figure. The young leader of the Kaze had never seen anything like it. Something in him stirred when Amaya suddenly turned to him with initially closed eyes, then looked at him with her sea-blue eyes ... apologetically?
"I wouldn't have suspected that she would condescend to something like an unspoken apology," he thought contemptuously. Amaya looked at him for a few more minutes, then turned and walked through the curtain away from Kouga.
"Wait!" He called and hurried after her. He couldn't explain himself why he was still running after her, but he did.
On the other side of the waterfall, she stopped and waited for Kouga to catch up with her. It emerged from the curtain, dripping wet. Now it was Amaya’s turn to look him over with interest. His black, shoulder-length hair, which he had tied up at the back, was dripping, as was the fur that he wore similar to Amaya and that was brown. He had some kind of shield on his chest. All in all, he was quite an attractive ...
"Stop it!" She admonished herself in thought. "You know what you think of them! You and everyone else in the pack !!"
Kouga, too, had calmed down and was no longer as heated as before.
Shortly before Amaya he stopped and said: "I ... I apologize for the behavior of my men. They could really use a few manners." What was he doing? It wasn't in his nature to apologize!
Amaya bowed her head slightly and replied quietly, "I also have to apologize. As I just saw, you have ... um ... have manners."
"We can leave it with 'you'. My men and I also have a duel, so why shouldn't we?" He replied with a mild smile. Her apology had worked: Kouga was no longer quick-tempered, and even quite friendly. A circumstance that made Amaya look up.
"I ... alright. My name is Amaya.", She introduced herself with a slight bow."I am the Istari's lead wolf."
