Chapter 1 - The competition

A girl at the age of 16 stood in front of her wardrobe with a questioning look and wondered what to pack for her trip. She had long blue hair and equally blue eyes. Her name is Raiko Sanders. She was gathering her things for her trip to Japan. Which she won a few days ago. Tomorrow the flight was supposed to leave and she still had to look for some clothes.
'What am I taking with me? ', she asked herself again and again in her mind and took a close look at all the clothes. She has been standing in front of her closet for a good hour now and has barely progressed. Her suitcase was only half full. Only after another nerve-wracking hour did she have an empty wardrobe and a more than full suitcase. All her saws that she did not need to take with her or that no longer fit in the suitcase were scattered around the room. After overcoming this problem, she went to sleep relieved, after all she had to get up early tomorrow.
She would probably only really believe that she was not dreaming when she was on the plane to Japan. It is and remains a strange thing how she got this competition.

~ * ~ Flashback ~ * ~
I went across the marketplace. Many huts were set up. Some sold vegetables and fruits, others juices and wines, and from time to time there were even huts where you could win something. I wasn't interested in anything that was offered here, but when I passed a small hut with some Japanese characters I inevitably had to stop. I've always been fascinated by Japan. Regardless of whether it was the culture, the language or just the people, I was interested in everything that had to do with it. I had even taken a language and writing course on Japan. So I mastered the language almost perfectly, as I had also continued to practice. So I was able to read the sign with the Japanese characters. It said -Japan ~ Island of Shrines-. I was a little surprised about this sign. I knew that there were many shrines in Japan, but what this booth had to do with them interested me dearly.
So I stepped closer to the hut. I noticed that it was one of the huts where you could win something. I saw that the prize was a trip to Tokyo with visits to the most important shrines in the city.
My eyes started to shine. 'I've always wanted to go to Japan, but such a trip is expensive and my parents didn't allow me,' I thought.
At that moment an older man stepped up from behind the counter and looked me over with interest. I looked at it too. He was wearing an old kimono, I concluded that he must be from a temple.
"Would you like to take part in this competition?" He asked me. His voice was deep and slightly smoky, but it was also very reassuring and trustworthy.I was about to say yes, but my brain turned on fast enough. "What do I have to do there?" I asked back. I wasn't stupid enough to just go along somewhere without knowing the terms and conditions.
"Not much .. you just have to fill out this questionnaire and whoever got the most right wins," he told me, handing me a questionnaire. I looked at the questionnaire first. I knew almost all of the answers, but the questions weren't really difficult for someone who was interested in Japan. I asked the man for a pen, which he gladly gave me and started answering the questions. After 5 minutes I had answered all of the questions. I returned the slip and asked how I should find out who would have won. "The competition ends tomorrow. If you give me your address, please, you will be notified whether you have won or not," he explained to me and handed me the form again, as there were still free fields for the address on the back.I hadn't seen her. After a moment's hesitation, I quickly wrote down my address and then said goodbye to the man.
I really didn't expect that I would win, but that should change 2 days later. Because I received a letter. At first I was surprised that I got a letter with Japanese characters on it, but when I opened it I screamed out loud with joy.
"I WON !!!" I shouted through the whole house. My mother came into the living room in which I was completely confused. "What did you win?" She asked me. "I told you about this booth and that I took part in this competition there, well, I really won!" I told her happily. "You mean the competition where you could win a trip to Japan?" She asked again. I nodded in confirmation. At first she was a little skeptical about letting me fly to Japan alone, because it was just a plane ticket. But then she agreed, because she knew how much I wanted to be able to fly to Japan one day. But for that I had to promise her high and sacred to call her every day.
