Chapter 3 - The Well

After a week, I had seen all of the major shrines in Tokyo and a lot more. I had already done a few shopping trips and got some souvenirs for my parents and friends. Now was the first day that I could plan alone from morning to night. I planned to go to this shrine that I noticed on the first day. I asked Mr. Hyobanshi about this shrine and he told me that it was quite an old shrine and that there were some legends about it. He told me about it. The legend about the bone-eating well and the 1000 year old tree. I was really looking forward to seeing it all. He had also told me that the priest of this shrine always likes to tell someone about it. So after breakfast I made my way to this shrine, in the meantime I had also found out its name. The Higurashi Shrine. It led up a long flight of stairs. When I was almost at the top I heard someone complain loudly.I ran up the last few steps and saw a strange scene. The girl I had seen with her friends in the city stood with a big backpack on her back, where I wondered how she could carry it and apparently was arguing with the boy in front of her. When I took a closer look at it, I was amazed at its appearance. His white hair wasn't even, his eye-catching red kimono didn't stop me, no, his ears pulled me in confusion. He seemed to have noticed me because he fell silent and suddenly looked at me. "Who or what are you?" I asked him a little confused. "Great Inuyasha, now you've been seen! Can you even begin to imagine how I should explain that," she snapped at the boy, who was probably called Inuyasha. "What can I do for it that you need so long," he replied with a huff. "Kagome, what's going on out there," a female voice called from inside the house. "No mom, everything is fine, I'll be gone in a moment!", the girl called Kagome called to her mother. These two still looked at me rather perplexed and didn't seem to know what to tell me. Suddenly this Inuyashas seemed to smell something and looked at me even more confused. I could myself make no sense of that. "What is the Inuyasha? "Kagome wanted to know." She smells so funny, not at all like a human, but also not really like a demon, "he said to her." Huh? No human, demon? Where did I end up with this one? " my thoughts. "What do you mean by that? What else is she supposed to be? .... ", suddenly she interrupted her questions and looked at me in amazement." Hello? Where did I get this one? "" Inuyasha she has a splinter of the jewel in her chain ", explained she monotonous. "What should be in my chain? A splinter of a jewel? But I knew about it, "I said to them." No, I'm quite sure, there is a splinter of the jewel of the 4 souls in your chain, "she said to me.I looked at my chain in amazement. It was a silver chain with a pink stone that really looked like a splinter. "That is supposed to be a splinter of this strange jewel? How do you want to know that? I mean that could also be a completely normal, pink stone," I wanted to know from her. Then she took a small glass bottle from her skirt pocket with a few pink splinters that looked very much like mine. "I have the ability to feel the splinters," she tried to explain to me. "Stop, stop! You want to make me know that I am wearing a splinter of this sacred jewel around my neck and you have the ability to feel it? Is that correct? And why has this necklace always been in my possession, I hardly think so it has been missing over 20 hairs, right? "I asked her. "I know that sounds pretty strange, but it didn't break 20 years ago, it broke 500 years ago," she told me.My mouth stayed open. "For 500 years? And why are you only looking for it now?" I wanted to know. "We're not looking for the jewel here today, but in the time 500 years ago," Inuyasha intervened. "What do you mean by that?" I asked more and more confused. "OK, that's a bit of a long story. Do you happen to have some time?" Began Kagome. But this Inuyasha didn't seem to be enthusiastic about it. So he just grabbed Kagome and went to a small woodshed. "Inuyasha read me down! I can't just leave her standing there and she also has a splinter of the jewel," Kagome protested loudly. He said nothing, but went back to me and took me too and carried us both to this wooden hut. I was way too perplexed to react. "Inuyasha's what are you going to do?", Kagome wanted to know from him. "She just comes with me," he agreed and went on into this wooden hut. When we were in the hut I realized what was in there.In the middle was an old well. And apparently he wanted to jump right into it. Kagome was angry with him, which you could see more than clearly, but this aspect didn't seem strange to her. I got weird from these two people. Then he jumped into this well. I tensed up inside and closed my eyes so as not to see the hard impact. But this impact did not materialize. Instead, he even jumped up. I opened my eyes again in amazement. When we were back on solid ground, he set us down. I was no longer standing on a hill in a city, no I suddenly stood in a clearing in the middle of a dense forest. I rubbed my eyes and looked around again to make sure I wasn't just imagining it.
"Are you forsaken by all good spirits? You can't just take them here with you!" She yelled at him. "Don't yell like that, she's here and good now.You can tell her while searching, "he said. She just sighed indignantly and walked up to me." Since you're already here, you can come with me first if you want. I would then explain everything to you, "she said to me. I just nodded silently and followed the two. I'm Kagome Higurashi and what's your name? ", she asked me." I'm Raiko Sanders, "I said to her." After a short walk we came to a small wooden hut. Inuyasha and Kagome went purposefully into this hut and I followed a little more shyly.In the hut sat a young woman with a cat on her lap, a man in monk clothing, an elderly woman and a young boy. They looked at me confused. "Kagome who is that?" Asked the young woman in the kimono, now I noticed that her cat had two tails. "This is Raiko, she emerged in our shrine and also has a splinter of the jewel," explained Kagome. "How did she get through the well, otherwise only you and Inuyasha can get through there", the monk wanted to know. "You ask something, I honestly have no idea," said Kagome. "How about we introduce ourselves first. I'm Kaede, the priestess of this village," the older woman intervened. "Oh sorry that was rude of us. So I'm Miroke and I have a question do you want to be the mother of my children?", This monk asked me and took my hands at this question. I looked at him skeptically and gave him a resounding slap that had washed himself.A second later he had a deep red handprint on his left cheek. "SAY YOU HAVE ALL OF THEM?" I yelled at him. I refrained from the rest, there were still children in the room. "It's best you don't pay attention to him, he's always like that, I'm Sango and that's Kiara," the young woman said to me. "And I'm Shippo," said the little boy with the fluffy tail and climbed onto Kagome's shoulder. "And that curmudgeon there is Inuyasha," he told me about the dog boy. "I'm Raiko, as Kagome said, I'm happy to make your acquaintance with one exception," I said friendly to them. "Don't take it so badly against Miroke, he just wants to have offspring so that they can fight Naraku because he doesn't know how long he still has time," Sango tried to calm me down a little. "OK, maybe I overreacted a bit, but not much," I slowly calmed down. "But now something else, who is this Naraku and you still wanted to tell me something about this jewel", I changed the subject again."Yes, how do I start now. So they told me everything about the tragedy between Kikyo and Inuyasha, that Kagome was their rebirth and also about Naraku. It was quite difficult to believe all of this, but as I had already noticed, we were now 500 years in the past, after this experience I would have believed almost everything they had told me. When they had finished with their stories, I now also knew the stories of Sango, Shippo and Miroke, it was now evening. We went to sleep and I completely forgot that I actually had to go back to the hotel. It was a bit strange to sleep in the open, but by no means uncomfortable. We started out after Kagome had told me everything, so I listened to the others' stories during the run.I also told something about myself. That I am German and started learning Japanese at an early age. But I didn't have much to tell, because I didn't want to tell them that I was adopted when I was 5 years old. I knew it for a long time, but I could live with it.
My parents told me when I was 10 years old because they thought I was mature enough to understand. But they didn't tell me where I was from. Secretly I hoped that I would come from Japan, but actually I looked a little too atypical for a Japanese woman.
I looked at the sky with the many stars that I have seldom seen shine so brightly. I looked for some constellations that I knew, but only found half of them. A rustling in a nearby scrub brush made me startle, but I wasn't the only one who heard it, because a second later Inuyashas was standing in front of me and was also looking at this bush.
