or: How it all began

It was winter in the land of the hidden mist. An 11-year-old girl ran away from a couple of dogs with her arms folded. "Get hold of her, this thief!" The dog owner could be heard shouting. The girl still had a big head start, but it wouldn't last forever, she knew that too. She turned the corner and suddenly ran into someone. She gave a desperate "ouch" when she landed on her bum. When they collided, she dropped the food she was carrying, and so she began to collect everything again. "Hey little one! You apologize if you run into someone.", An angry voice growled down from above. She wanted to look up, but at the same moment she could hear the dogs behind her again.She jumped up and only came 3 meters forward when someone grabbed her from behind. She turned to see who it was. She feared that it would be her pursuers, but instead of them a black-haired boy smiled at her. "Don't worry, it won't happen to you," he whispered to her, grabbing her around her waist and then making a jump. A moment later they were both sitting on the branch of a tree. She wanted to say something, but the boy put his finger over his mouth to signal that she should be quiet. He looked down at the street where the man the girl had run into a moment ago was still standing. The dogs suddenly came running around the corner baring their teeth, closely followed by their cursing owner (I have to say, these dogs have to be very fast ^^): "Get them this damn brat, they mustn't escape again!" Suddenly they froze the dogs and the man at the sight of the stranger on the street who was now standing in front of them."Sorry ... please excuse me, sir.", The dog owner whistled back his animals and immediately disappeared with them in the direction from which they came.
Finally the stranger looked at the children in the tree and shouted angrily to them: "Haku, that would not have been necessary; it is none of our business. And now come down, I want to go on." The boy stood up and then jumped with a graceful Jump from the tree. The two were just about to go on when the girl called after them on her way downstairs: "Wait please!" She ran to the black-haired boy: "Thank you!", Then she held out some of the food she was carrying . "No, I can't take that, I'm sorry, but you can tell me instead who I've just helped." The girl looked nervously up at the two of them and then introduced herself resolutely: "Shizuka ... Shizuka Usuyuki." The amazement was written on their faces for a moment. The boy turned to his companion, who then only nodded briefly."Well, I'm Haku and this is Zabuza-san, nice to meet you Shizuka-chan.", The boy introduced himself and his companion. "Can I come with you for a bit, Haku-kun?" Shizuka asked shyly. When Haku nodded with a smile, she immediately took a few steps forward. Haku and Zabuza followed her; Zabuza looked grim and spoke briefly to Haku. He nodded and quickened his pace to run next to Shizuka. "Shizuka-chan may I ask you something?" The girl smiled at him. “Do you live here alone?” The girl looked sad for a moment, but then pulled herself back together and said, “My parents were killed four years ago because they have bad blood, so I don't have a home anymore.” “Bad Do you mean a bloodline limit? ", Haku ticked further. "Maybe, I don't remember exactly, it was too long ago. I only know that I was spared thanks to the rain."", Haku wanted to point out a very specific point." Direct water? I don't know, but sometimes when I'm in danger or afraid, the water always protects me. "" Zabusa-san ... ", Haku turned backwards." I know what you're up to Haku, but you can get that out of your head, boy! ", Zabuza got angry. Haku fell back a few steps:" But Zabusa-san, she could be just as good a weapon as I am. You just have to learn! "Zabuza remained silent for a moment and then turned annoyed to Haku:" I can see, I can't dissuade you from that. If you can make a usable weapon out of her in a short period of time she can come with you, but if you fail we will leave her behind. "Haku nodded and went back to Shizuka."
