Chapter 2:

~ + ~ Desert wandering and a bitter awakening ~ + ~

When Santi woke up in the morning she realized bitterly that she hadn't dreamed after all. Their village was destroyed. She was alone. Her pain still hadn't left her.

Slowly she got up and started walking. Here it didn’t stop, nothing at all. Silently she climbed a sand hill. From there it goes on and on. The sun wasn't too high yet and so brought her a few kilometers forward. At lunchtime she looked for a suitable hiding place to escape the heat. The sun was high and very hot at that time. Anyone who didn't know how to survive here died of the heat.
As before, she found rest in the shadow of a rock. She would not continue walking until evening. In the evening it was cooler and it was easier to get on.
In the evening, Sant set off to continue on his way. The coolness was pleasant and let the heat fade. She didn’t even have half the way because she would already know that she couldn’t survive without something to eat or drink. That was just fine with the black-haired man. How long should she live if her family and friends were murdered.
Late at night she found a place to sleep. She knew that she didn't even know where she was going, Santi didn't care, just away from her village.Early in the morning she was awakened by a hiss that was right next to her. She opened one eye carefully. She was joined by a cobra. She didn't move a bit, the cobra watching everything straightened up.
Santi who was all right did not care, she was still too tired to do anything. The cobra had already had a meal and so it soon gave up. Santi, who was still tired, slowly sat up. If she didn't go any further now, it would end up with her sooner than she would have liked. Slowly and carefully, considering the next step, she walked forward. In the afternoon she had found no protection from the surging heat. She had to go on and there was no oasis in sight. She went south towards Cairo the capital. But anyway, she didn't know it. she finally collapsed from the heat. Her forehead was hot and her body was sweating. She had been eating or drinking ncits for a long time. Now she would die like everyone else.A small caravan had set out from nearby through Alexandretta to Cairo. They were surprised that Alexandretta was so deserted and that corpses were found. The men fetched water from the well and took a short rest before continuing their journey. The trader accompanying the caravan was a lousy businessman. The absurd figures that accompanied him were slaves that he had bought from other countries and villages just to sell them again.
The caravan had been on the move for a day and put up its little tents. The next day they moved on.
Late at noon the caravan driver discovered a girl lying in the desert. But he was quite fast enough and so the lousy businessman was faster than him. The businessman called himself Ames. He took care of her first.

In the evening Santi lay in a soft bed. She didn't know what had happened. All she could tell was that she was tied up. What had happened, why wasn't she dead yet.She could imagine that someone had saved her. The businessman smiled bitterly as he entered the tent. She trembled briefly. The girl had heard a lot about them. He was the Pharaoh's slave trader and now she had gotten into it too. She still didn't speak a single word.
"Has the young lady finally woken up?" Said the businessman calmly, that bitter laugh had disappeared. However, when he received no answer, he asked the same question again. Still no answer.
"Can't you speak or are you just pretending?" He frate and approached Santi. This trembled all over. She was afraid of this guy and showed it openly. She still said no. For him it was said she couldn't speak.
They did not move on until early in the morning. The caravan moved on towards Cairo. Santi and the other slaves followed. Just like her, she was handcuffed and had to follow them. A guard had the main rope in hand and was pulling her forward. When he arrived in Cairo, the slave trader left the caravan. He paid for them and then disappeared into the market. A couple of slaves were then put on display at a booth. Santi wasn't there. She was sitting in a cage with her inside, waiting for someone to buy her. But it wouldn't go that fast.
