Kaito Kid - Shinichi Kudo Teil 4

Die Vergangenheit lässt grüßen

The Enlightenment

Shinichi was busy the next day after school. First he went to police headquarters, where he asked Inspector Megure for the latest news about Ayato Kawomoto. Then he bought all the newspapers that were on offer and rummaged through them. Finally he made his way to the Kurobas. The previous evening he had spoken to Kaito briefly about the station he had once given him. The friend could only tell him that his mother fell asleep quickly after she woke up from unconsciousness. When he rang the doorbell, Kaito answered it. Shinichi was pleased that the thief smiled.
"Is she okay?" he wanted to know immediately.
Kaito didn't answer, but led him into the living room, where Hibarue Kuroba was lying on the couch, smiling at him.
"Ask her yourself!" the thief smiled.
Shinichi let out a sigh of relief. A huge lump of stone fell from his heart. "You look good!"
She made a face. "Well!I've felt better before. Fortunately, I did not suffer any serious injuries. Just a couple of bruises and probably a concussion. It didn't do me so well that I hit my head against the wall behind which I wanted to get to safety! "
Your visitor could well imagine that. He smiled at her. "Anyway, you were fantastic. And not only I think so!" He pointed to the package of newspapers that he was carrying under his arm. "The article writers are full of hymns of praise, and all the programs on television that deal with you and the Kaito Kid trigger a storm of enthusiasm!"
Kibarue could only grin wearily at that. "The only good thing about it is that nobody knows where to find us. It would be way too much for me to have these hysterical people standing in our front yard!"
The detective laughed. "That's why these people are now standing in front of the government buildings and demanding that you and Kaito Kid get an amnesty for their crimes!""What?" Kaito marveled at him. "I haven't heard anything about that yet!"
His friend laughed. "The information just got on the news."
Kaito grinned in amusement. “In a certain sense, we've already had that for a long time.” He pointed to his mother. "Your offenses are statute-barred for a long time and I work for the goal of debt relief for the government. I would not like an immediate amnesty at all. I am satisfied with the current state that you have achieved for me!"
Shinichi understood that all too well. "I know. You love your performances as the Kaito Kid and just enjoy doing your special magic shows. That's why you would have been willing to make this deal without the blackmail I used on you!"
The master thief grinned. "Blackmail? What kind of blackmail?" When Shinichi wanted to answer, Kaito waved him off. "Yeah! I know! I called it that myself in the face of the government guy and your father, but that was just a show.I delivered myself to you for the solution to my father's murder case. No matter what you had decided about me at the moment, I would have complied. It was obvious that this was your decision and I was only too happy to accept it. You couldn't find anything better in my eyes for my punishment! "
Shinichi nodded. "Yes! And not only you are satisfied with your punishment. My contact signaled to me that the completion of your first assignment was completely satisfied. You were thrilled!"
Kaito shrugged. "Fine! But I am surprised that no arrest has been made yet. What are you waiting for?"
His friend smiled. "That will happen next week. They deliberately want to let some time pass so that nobody associates the incident with your break-in. After all, they want to use you more often. Besides ..." He reached into his pocket, took something out and handed it to Kaito."... you will use this from now on!"
He looked astonished at the thing in his hand. It was a monocle. "What am I supposed to do with it?" asked he. "I already have some!"
"But not one of those!" laughed Shinichi. "This is what Professor Agassa built according to my information. It resembles the glasses I used as Conan. And above all, a mini camera is built in! It's better if you just take photos of the files. Then the honorable gentlemen can't be noticed, that something is missing! "
Hibarue laughed in amusement. "It is no wonder that you were Kaito's greatest enemy. Your lively brain is never resting and you are always looking for improvements!"
He waved it off. "Let's get back to the original topic. My contact with the government was also enthusiastic and he would have loved to find out immediately who the Diebische Elster is to thank her personally!"
"That doesn't interest me! I would rather know how the children, their parents and the two teachers are doing!"Shinichi smiled. He had suspected it and also found out about it from Inspector Megure. "Well!" he answered. "It will of course take a while for them to process that. They are receiving psychological treatment. Some of them have not really understood it." He grinned. "Most are just disappointed that they didn't know it was the Kaito Kid who led them outside!"
"What about Ayato Kawomoto?" she asked. "Something is wrong with him!"
Her visit nodded. "You are right. He is ill. When examining his head more closely, the doctors found a tumor. It presses on important regions of the brain and must have triggered his behavior in the first place!"
"Aha!" Hibarue nodded. "I suspected something like that. But how did he come up with the idea that I was his wife's murderer?"
"That was really a stupid coincidence. As far as Inspector Megure could find out, the night she died you committed a theft near your home.We suspect that he may have seen her fleeing over the rooftops. But his heavily pregnant wife did not fall down the stairs until half an hour later. She miscarried in the process. Unfortunately, when the doctor came, it was already too late and neither she nor the child could be saved. That is why there was no ad back then, because there was no connection whatsoever. But because of the tumor, these two events mixed up in his thinking! "
Now she understood everything. "So that's how it was. Now everything is clear to me and I don't hold anything against him. But I'm afraid the children's parents will see it differently!"
Shinichi agreed. "Yes! I fear that too!" He turned to Kaito. "What do you think of him? After all, you felt like your parents. He wanted to kill your mother?"
He smiled strangely. "Oh, you know, we're not a good example. Mum has been worried about me for years and now it was my turn. And honestly. Neither she nor I are as innocent as these children. I can live with the fact that he is sick and cannot do anything about it! "
"How is it with him anyway? Can he have an operation?" Hibarue wanted to know.
The detective nodded. "Yes! The tumor is in a favorable location. The doctors believe that it can completely recover!"
"It's good!" she smiled. "If he gets through everything well, the Diebische Magpie will visit him to talk to him. Then I can best judge how he feels about his actions!"
"This is a very good idea!" Shinichi smiled. "Maybe the Diebische Magpie could talk to the parents afterwards, if they don't calm down!"
Hibarue grinned in agreement. "Maybe! If it should be necessary!"
Kaito smiled. When he thought about how difficult the relationship between his mother, who at least believed that Shinichi wanted to put her son in jail and had been him, he found that they got along very well now."Shall I make us some tea?" he asked the two of them. They nodded and so he went into the kitchen. He was glad that this episode had turned out so well and was looking forward to the next time when the Kaito Kid and maybe the Diebische Magpie were allowed to have an appearance.

You too, I hope! See you!
