Cold wind in my heart
Cold wind in my hair
Nothing gets colder than down here
And it will never come true
Her footsteps echoed through the empty hallways of the property as she made her way to the drawing room. Except for her and the house-elves there was once again no one here and the silence around them slowly but surely began to narrow again, but there was no way for them to escape. Empty and cold, that's how everything affected her here.
When did the warmth leave the walls and leave behind that icy cold that made her shiver? This really wasn't a place she liked to call home anymore. There was nothing that could somehow be reminiscent of kindness and warmth. And all because of him that monster. Why did he have to join him too? How so?
Sighing, she entered the drawing room and, without thinking about it, went to an armchair by the fireplace, like every day. In general, there seemed to be no more variety in her life. Everything had become a quiet routine that she followed devotedly and that she allowed herself to be carried through the cold of the day.
She stared into the fire in the fireplace with lifeless eyes for a moment before reaching for her mug and starting to drink her tea. Sighing, she shook her head at her own behavior. It was stupid and she really didn't want it. She let herself be lulled by her loneliness and the cold ...
How could she get into this situation? What was she doing wrong? Why did all this have to happen at all? Did she deserve it? Had she done anything that made her so coldly punished? She just couldn't explain it and it was driving her insane. She had never wanted it to turn out the way it was now.She asked herself the same questions over and over, but she just couldn't find an answer. Everything kept turning in circles. Sometimes it was really just unbearable and not infrequently she had thought about how she could end everything.
She had mostly done what was asked of her when she married him. But she would never have imagined ending up in such a situation. It just seemed to make no sense anymore. Even the thought of her child could no longer evoke any warmth in her. But was it really just the fact that it was her duty that had pushed her so far, or was it something else? She didn't know anymore. It almost seemed to her as if she would forget everything, the further the silent deafness spread inside her and meanwhile threatened to devour it completely.
[i]All the stars stay up
Only your trace remains in me
Have i ever betrayed youI ask quietly and you just smile
It was a starry night and actually she had gone outside to the balcony in front of her bedroom to look at the stars and so to distract herself from her dark thoughts. But it just wouldn't work. Instead, she kept thinking that her husband still wasn't back. And now it was past midnight. Who knew when and if he would come at all ...
Was this really the life she'd always wanted? Wasn't there more for her? Or was that really all here? Sometimes she thought she should have done like her cousin and just run away. So she could have saved all of this here. But where should she have gone? It also violated all the rules and things that had been drummed into her since she was born. Even if she hadn't submitted to the family rules 100%, at least she had never turned against him.Even if she still refused to see her as her master to this day. And with her wedding she had made up for something again. After all, both families were devoted to Him and such bonds were always welcomed.
But in spite of everything, she couldn't say that none of this affected her. On the contrary, there was hardly a moment in her day that she did not care. For her husband, for her son, for the family. Again and again she had to reckon with the fact that her husband would lose his life in this - as she found - pointless war or was put in prison, had to fear that her son would also be ordered into the service of him. All of this would completely destroy what she had built with some effort over the years. Was it too much to ask if she just wanted to live a normal life without fear?
She was slightly startled from her thoughts when the door of the bedroom was opened and closed again shortly afterwards. She didn't even have to turn around to know who had just entered. It could only be him. She wanted to turn around, yell at him for being so worried, ask him where he had been and why he was only coming home now, but she didn't do any of that. Instead, she just kept staring at the sky and waiting to see what would happen.
"Oh ... you are still awake ..." came an emotionless, dark voice and her hands clenched on the railing. No greeting, no warmth, no nothing ... Everything was as always. Typical for him. Cold and calculating. He was no longer anything else. What else did she expect? She noticed that she had tensed up unwillingly and knew that deep inside she was hit more than she wanted to admit. But she would never show him that either. She couldn't let him know how much she hurt his behavior at times, and so she continued to stare impassively at the sky. When you laugh
I do not care
When you laugh
I do not care
When you laugh
I don't care
When suddenly a couple of arms wrapped around her and gently but firmly pulled her to a warm body, she winced, before blinking in confusion. At first she didn't know what to do with herself. Should she respond and snuggle into his arms to enjoy the warmth she had missed for so long, or should she fight back, push him away?
"You should come in with me. It's quite chilly out here and you'll get sick if you stay here."
The words were spoken lovingly and stopped the struggle inside her as she slowly began to relax in his arms. Despite everything, she was very surprised that he was so different now than a few minutes ago. She looked up in amazement and looked directly into the smiling face of her husband. Suddenly her insides seemed to slowly fill with warmth. She began to smile back and finally nodded in agreement before she breathed a light kiss on the lips and walked into the bedroom with him. She knew this night wouldn't be cold. Today he would keep her warm and be the person she had come to love.
I trust the rest of the dead
I don't trust anyone who loves me
But hating me is forbidden
And it remains a real miracle if you still exist
The next morning's awakening brought the cold back. She had suspected it and yet it hit her like a blow when she woke up alone. She had hoped that at least this time he would wait until she woke up and then go to breakfast with her. But in spite of everything he had got up before her and taken care of the work. She knew that he was still in the house and that she would soon be waiting at the breakfast table. Sighing, she got out of bed and began to get ready for the day while more and more dark thoughts solidified inside her.She would much rather have stayed in bed, hid under the covers and just closed her eyes to maintain the illusion that everything was fine and that there was nothing to worry about.
Sighing, she looked at herself one last time in the mirror when she was finished and brushed a single strand from her face. Slowly she no longer recognized the woman in the mirror. Was that really her? Was that how she had changed? Shaking her head, she left the room and went to the dining room, but her thoughts just wouldn't let her rest.
[i]When you laugh
I do not care
When you laugh
Then I don't care
When you laugh
I don't care what's coming
Then everything is different
When you laugh
Then everything else is mine
If you just laugh
Then everything else is mine
If you just laugh
Then I don't care what else happens
That doesn't matter
The meal was silent and the doubts seemed all the more unbearable to echo in the silence. A low sigh inevitably left her lips, which gave her a strange look from the person opposite - she refused to call this person her husband ... she just couldn't understand him anymore. And even if she knew that he would like her to explain what was wrong with her, she wouldn't. Secretly she was even wondering whether he would even notice if she were suddenly no longer there. If she packed her things and just ...
"Narcissa!"
It wasn't the fact that he had spoken to her but the sound of his voice that made her sit up and take notice and tear her from her thoughts.
"What is?" she asked softly and looked at him. There was a worried look on his face as he rose and walked over to her.
"I should probably ask you that ... What's the matter with you?" he wanted to know gently when he got to her and went down on his knees in front of her. For a while she just looked at him in silence before she smiled slightly.
"I'm tired ... and I'm cold ..." she replied in a slightly resigned voice, knowing that he understood what she meant.
He sighed softly as he rose, turned her face and kissed her gently."I know it's not going well right now. And I'll try to be there to chase away the cold that keeps you prisoner. Because I love you ... But promise me that you won't give up on us. Because even if I give it up to you." maybe can't show I need you here with me. "
Just hearing these words sent a wave of warmth and tenderness through her body. Tears formed in her eyes and a smile fell on her lips as she nodded.
"I promise to you"
He returned the smile and finally broke away from her completely, even if there was regret in his eyes. But she just kept smiling. But she knew that he would go now. But today she was sure that he would be with her again this evening. And the warmth with him.
"I'll be there when you come ..."
He nodded in agreement before disappearing and she slowly got up
