Petunia and her husband Vernon were in an uncomfortable bed. They were in a rotten hut on a deserted rock far from the coast, the wind whistling through the cracks and the rain dripping through the perforated roof. Both stared at the ceiling with wide eyes and froze terribly.
And why all of this? Just because they wanted to avoid the awful letters from Hogwarts. They were all addressed to Harry, of course, but if he went to this school they would be all alone with Dudley and his outbursts of anger, and that would be the worst for them both.Dudley, of course, believed that they were only doing this because they were afraid of sorcery and wanted to see Harry suffer as much as possible. If they didn't pretend ... couldn't imagine what would happen to them then.
They actually liked Harry, but since Dudley suffered from complex complexes, they had to treat Harry as badly as possible, even though it broke their hearts.
But she would never find anyone on this rock and Harry wouldn't have to leave her either. The thought calmed them down a bit, even if they were terribly sorry that Harry had to sleep on the cold floor on his birthday because Dudley was taking up the entire sofa with his massive bum.
Vernon and Petunia glanced at each other and tried to smile encouragingly.
When the noises of Dudley's Gameboy died away and a few minutes later they heard their son's loud snoring, they too slowly fell into a restless sleep in which they were plagued by Dudley's grimace. He ran after them with his smelting stick and hit them painfully on the back of the head.
The couple woke up when there was a loud knock on the front door.
What happened here How could they be found, far from civilization?
Vernon jumped out of bed and picked up his shotgun. Then he sped out of the room and stepped into the hallway, his wife Petunia close behind him.
Dudley sat bolt upright on the sofa, staring at the door, whimpering softly. Harry, the poor boy, hid behind a closet that was sure to have moth-eaten clothes in it, and shivered slightly. Vernon and Petunia stood in the doorway and stared at the door, frightened.
With a loud thump she was unhinged, which amplified the noise of the storm outside many times over. A man of enormous proportions entered the hut, which the couple swallowed, Dudley squeaked and Harry jumped up in alarm.
The huge bearded man scowled around and then growled, "I'm so sorry."He put the door back into the frame with ease. Vernon stepped forward, trembling all over.
"Who are you and what the hell do you want !?" he asked in a trembling voice.
But instead of waiting for an answer, Petunia stepped forward and said, trying to sound braver than she was: "Get out of here, this is trespassing!"
The giant stared at the couple and only waved his right hand disapprovingly.
"Oh, shut up. I came to pick Harry up."
Vernon and his wife turned red, then yellow, and finally blue-green. He would take Harry with him. He would take him away forever and then they would be alone with their failed son Dudley.
Petunia was close to fainting and Vernon dropped the shotgun limp.
Luckily the bearded man couldn't see Harry because he was still hiding behind the closet, so he turned to Dudley.
"The last time I saw you, you were still a baby, Harry, but you are a bit stronger than I imagined - especially around the middle."He patted his stomach and winked at Dudley.
"II am not Harry," Dudley stammered, scared.
The big man stopped short.
"Not?"
A great thought occurred to Petunia. This was probably the chance she and her husband had been waiting for so long!
She stepped forward, which caught the attention of the dangerous-looking giant, and said, in a stronger voice than before, "What are you talking about? Of course you are Harry!"
Her fat son turned his head to his mother and glared at her.
"No, I'm not!" He shouted, almost in panic.
The tall, bearded man smiled soothingly.
"But, but, you don't have to be afraid of me, Harry. I'm Hagrid and I'd like to take you to Hogwarts!"
Dudley took turns looking at his parents and at Hagrid. He seemed too scared to say another word.
Vernon had also found courage now and was walking towards Hagrid.
"Harry was so scared of the letters, he was downright panicked. But now you are there to convince him otherwise! There is nothing to worry about, is there Harry? "
Vernon was grinning at him in an insane way.
"So that's why you're in a little hut in the middle of the sea, isn't it?" Hagrid asked skeptically.
Petunia nodded, which made her hair fly.
"That's exactly the case!"
Hagrid raised a thick index finger.
"Oh! I can think of something else ..."
He reached into his coat and pulled out a box containing a large, sticky chocolate cake.
"Here for you, Harry, and a happy birthday!"
Dudley's eyes widened.
"WOW! It looks delicious!"
He pounced on the cake and began to rub it off greedily, his fat bum flapping incessantly. Petunia gave Vernon a disgusted look.
Behind the closet the real Harry started to move, but Vernon waved his hand to indicate that he shouldn't move. Harry obeyed what he had learned enough in ten years with the Dursleys.Hagrid grinned happily at Dudley.
"As I can see, you like it! I'm glad!"
Dudley emerged from his cake, chocolate smeared on his face.
"Are there such delicious things in Hochwarz?"
His look was full of longing. Hagrid chuckled.
"Of course, Hogwarts has the best food in the world!"
Dudley jumped up on his puggy legs and smiled all over his face. Hope blossomed in Vernon and Petunia, as warm and cozy as they had always hoped it would be.
"Let's go right away, Hagrid!" He shouted enthusiastically.
"What, right now?" Asked Hagrid, startled. "But you don't know anything about Hogwarts and wizards -"
Dudley cut him off.
"So what! You can tell me that on the way, too, let's go!"
Hagrid turned slowly to the Dursleys.
"Is it okay with you if I take him with me now?"
Vernon and Petunia nodded, big grins on their faces.
"And ... I mean, doesn't he need some sleep?Shouldn't we tomorrow morning - "
Vernon and Petunia shook their heads violently. Hagrid looked surprised and rubbed his beard.
"All right," he said finally. "He will write to you about how he is doing at Hogwarts."
Dudley had already squeezed into his shoes and jacket, meanwhile he munched on "his" cake.
"Yes, yes! Can we finally go then, Hagrid?"
The person addressed grinned and said: "Full of vigor, like your parents back then, I praise that. All right, since uncle and aunt don't mind, we'll go straight away."
Dudley put his big fists in the air and stormed out of the hut into the rain, hood pulled over his fat head. Hagrid turned once more at the door.
"Don't worry. Goodbye!"
Petunia and Vernon waved weakly. You couldn't believe it. Dudley was going to walk away with that fat giant.
When the door closed softly, they stood motionless for a while. Then Vernon dropped the shotgun on the floor and gave a small sob. Petunia fell on his neck in relief. Finally they got rid of the tyrant!
They ran over to Harry, who looked incredibly confused, and hugged him.
"Everything will be fine now," Petunia sighed softly.
