The Sleepwalker - When Nightmares Come True ...

Chapter 6

"Mom, can I quit the job with Mrs. Uchiha?"
Mrs. Haruno, who was putting one hamburger after the other on the grill, looked briefly at her daughter in surprise. "Sakura, we didn't want to talk about serious things ... That's why we went to the lake here, too, right? Call your sister and Ino, the hamburgers will be ready soon."
Her mother had spontaneously decided that she would go to the lake in her uncle's house for a weekend, so that Sakura would have some distance from what was happening. And Ino was allowed so that Sakura had company.
Of course, Sakura immediately agreed, if only because she would not go to Mrs.Uchiha had to. She had to cancel the appointment with Gaara, who sounded a bit disappointed, but showed understanding.
It wasn't that easy to run away from your own thoughts, as Sakura noticed.
On Saturday afternoon she and Ino had gone out on the lake in a small rowing boat. It was a beautiful day and Ino was happily talking to herself, believing that Sakura would listen to her, but she didn't. Her thoughts were somewhere else with Mrs. Uchiha, her pearls, the black cat and her sleepwalking ... ° I have to quit the job and then as soon as possible far away from her ... °, thought Sakura.
Suddenly she noticed that the boat was swaying and looked up. Ino got up and looked at Sakura, who looked confused, reproachfully. "Sakura, we drove here so that you can relax and not get stuck in your thoughts all the time," Ino began, then she pouted, "besides, I've been talking for at least 10 minutes and you're not listening to me at all.""I'm sorry, Ino ...", Sakura apologized and, after Ino had sat down again, concentrated on the conversation she was trying to have. At some point Ino gave up talking to her when she stripped back in thought and the two quietly rowed back ashore.

Sakura spent the rest of noon in her room trying to sleep, but she didn't really want to succeed either. So she finally went back out to the others. Yuri and Ino threw stones into the water and watched which one jumped longer and their mother went back to working on the grill. Sakura reluctantly stood next to her and waited a little longer before trying again: "Mom, can I quit the job now?" Her mother sighed. "Why do you want that now, Sakura? We could use the money and you couldn't ask for a better job," she said finally.
Why did she want to give up on him? What should she say now, please? Her mother would laugh at her if she said, “Mrs. Uchiha is a witch and has put a curse on me.” Sakura would laugh at herself if she didn't think, no, if she didn't know she was right. Sakura didn't stay silent for long.
"I would just like to give it up ..." ° That was a really great argument ... °, she thought to herself.
"If I were you I would keep him," advised Mrs. Haruno, "I mean, you don't make bad money and that's actually a nice job."
Enjoyable??? Sakura believed that less ... What is it that should be pleasant to do the housework for an old lady, to look after her, to provide her with food and drink and then to be cursed in return? She would probably have to express her guess ...
"I think that ...", Sakura paused, "... I think the job has something to do with my sleepwalking ..."
Her mother couldn't suppress a slight smile."If you start sleepwalking every time you get a new job, you'll have a hard time ..."
"That's how I did it ... Oh forget it," Sakura said softly. ° It is my own fault. Did I really think she would believe me? I hardly believe myself ... ° She went to her little sister and Ino to get them to eat. When Yuri saw her sister coming, she straightened up quickly, closed her eyes and stretched out her arms. "Hey, Ino. Guess who I am," she said. "Definitely, Sakura!", Ino said, not trying to laugh. "It's really funny. There's food if you're interested and don't want to play sleepwalkers," Sakura said angrily and turned around again without wasting another word. "And if that's funny!", Yuri said as she sat down at the table with Ino.
Sakura rolled her eyes in annoyance. Why couldn't they just leave her alone? You would definitely not find it funny anymore if something like this happened to you ...--------------------------------------------------

"You're running late," said Sakura to Ino on Monday morning. She nodded. "I know, but my mother stopped me, sorry," she said, "I think it's really nice of your mother that she lends me her car so I can see a doctor." "That's no problem for her", replied Sakura, "She was taken by a colleague this morning and therefore doesn't need the car."
The two left the house together. "Shall I drop you off at Mrs. Uchiha?", Ino asked, "it looks like it is about to start raining."
Sakura agreed and the two got into the car. Ino got behind the wheel and started the engine. Then they drove off. "How are you today?" She asked. "Quite well ... I'm just tired," replied Sakura, "didn't sleep ..."
"Why not?" Ino asked surprised.
"To be honest, I'm scared of sleeping and dreaming of sleepwalking again ..." Sakura admitted. From Ino she received a pitying look, but told her not to go into it with one look and so the rest of the journey was silent.

When Sakura said goodbye to Ino, she saw Mrs. Uchiha standing on her veranda. She took another deep breath before running up to her. "Good morning, Mrs. Uchiha," said Sakura with a smile. She wasn't greeted back. The old lady just stood there and looked intently at Sakura. She wore a white skirt and over it a white blouse. The contrast to her black hair made Sakura shiver slightly. "I need to talk to you urgently," said Mrs. Uchiha quietly and her expression didn't reveal anything. "I'm really sorry I'm late, but" "It's not about that dear," interrupted Mrs. Uchiha, "let's talk about it inside."
Silently, Sakura followed the old lady into the kitchen. What did she want to talk to her about? Tell her that she put a curse on her?Hardly ... Did she want to kick Sakura out?
But Sakura was pulled out of her thoughts when Mrs. Uchiha started talking again. This time she smiled. “I'm going away for a few days because my sister is sick and someone has to take care of her.” Sakura hadn't expected that now. She was surprised and at the same time relieved. She wouldn't have to see Mrs. Uchiha for a few days. "But that doesn't mean that there isn't any work for you here," said the old woman, still smiling, "I can't take Kumiko with me and I would like to ask you to come by every day and feed him. Then you can ask around right away take care of the plants and the mail. "
"Sure, no problem," said Sakura. ° The main thing is that she drives away °, thought Sakura, ° maybe I can finally sleep peacefully for a few days again ... °
"You will get your full salary and I am sure that in my absence you will take good care of the house and Kumiko."Thank you," said Sakura, "I'll come every day, without exception, and take care of everything, I promise. When are you leaving?" Sakura hoped that her voice didn't sound too happy at this question.
"I'll be leaving tomorrow morning," replied the lady. Then Mrs. Uchiha turned to the sink, leaning on her stick. Suddenly she had a large knife in her hand, which Sakura had otherwise only seen in real butchers, lifted it high in the air and hit it full force on something that she could chop up. Sakura couldn't see what it was and therefore stepped closer to the sink, but the next moment she wished she hadn't done this. She felt sick and had to struggle to suppress any choking noises. That something Mrs. Uchiha was shrinking there looked like a human hand.
When the old woman turned she had a strange smile on her face. "What's the matter with you ... Sakura ??" she asked. Sakura stared at her in silence for a few seconds."That ... that you ... downsize. W-What's that?" She managed. Mrs. Uchiha laughed. "Have you never seen pork knuckles in your life? My sister loves to eat them, so I'll take a few with me." With these words, she turned back to her work.
Never in your life were pork knuckles ... they looked completely different. And also the satisfied look that Mrs. Uchiha had while chopping, worried Sakura ...

----------------------------------------------

After work, Sakura was quite shaky on her feet and she was still a little sick. It was raining when she ran home. In front of the door she dug her key out of her pocket, unlocked the door and stepped into the warmth.
"Mom? Are you already?" She got no answer. The clock told her that her sister wouldn't be home for half an hour. So she still had a little time alone without having to be annoyed. She went into the cows and got something cold to drink when the phone rang."Sakura Haruno," she answered. "Hey Sakura, it's me," said her mother's voice, "I still have to stay in the hospital, there has been an accident.
Something in Sakura told her that wasn't a good thing. And she was right.
"Ino is here. She was in a car accident."
"Can I speak to you?" Sakura asked after recovering from the shock a few minutes later.
"Naturally." And a few moments later, she also had her friend on the phone.
"You sound strange, Ino," said Sakura.
"I know," she said slowly, sounding quite hoarse, "probably because of the painkillers ..."
"Are you still in severe pain?"
"No not more…"
° My God, fortunately she's still alive °, Sakura thought again and again, while she ran excitedly back and forth in the kitchen.

"My mother says your leg is broken"
"Yes and my wrist too ... And I have a few scratches on my ribs too," Ino said.
"Why do you sound like you don't mind?", Sakura
