Chapter 2 Sight-seeing

Half an hour later the Greywood family was sitting in the little restaurant, waiting for the food to be ordered. “Shall we take a look at your new school after dinner, Shan?” Mr. Greywood looked at his daughter quizzically as he sipped his drink.
Mrs. Greywood nodded in agreement: "That would be an excellent opportunity, darling!"
"Okay, of course!" Shana nodded resignedly, but she was also curious about her new school, which is why it was not difficult for her to agree.
A young woman came to her table. Three large bowls of ramen on a tray, which she placed in front of the guests.
"Enjoy your meal," she said in a calm voice and indicated a slight bow. In a still bumpy Japanese, the family replied: “Doumo Arigatou!” The woman left again and the Greywoods began to eat. Over dinner, Mr. Greywood informed his family that he would soon be traveling to Osaka and several other cities, possibly opening a few more branches for his company. To do this, however, he first had to get an overview of the cities in order to select potential locations.
Mrs. Greywood would take over the management of the company again and wanted to take up her job as a company manager again, because she was of the opinion that Shana would now be old enough to be alone for a longer period of time. Shana had no problem with it, she was out with friends she hoped to find anyway, and she also spent a lot of time drawing, which she preferred to do alone. She had also taken the art course as a compulsory course, or AG, at her new school, the Konoha Academy. In contrast to her parents, she had not inherited the mathematical-logical genes. Shana often wondered anyway that she had noticed her artistic talent. Her parents had zero talent and understanding for art, but they always supported Shana as best they could in this matter, for which the brown-haired woman was really grateful to them. The Konoha Academy was not far from the penthouse the Greywoods now occupied.
It was only three stops on the subway, which the family now also used, and then the last 700m on foot to the large school building.
The Konoha Academy consisted of several buildings. A large main building in which all rooms, apart from the technical and boarding rooms, were housed, was the focus. The building with the technical rooms was on the right and the boarding school on the left. The school yard connected all three.
Behind the main building there was a sports hall, a dojo, sports fields and a swimming pool, as the Konoha Academy attached great importance to sports. But there was also a large kitchen for the students.
Mrs. Greywood looked around the schoolyard. Who could you ask if you could take a look around the school grounds?
She discovered a green "island" in the middle of the school yard under whose tree a man was sitting in the shade. She walked over purposefully, pulling her husband and daughter with her.
"Ohayou gozaimasu", she greeted and waited for a reaction. This came too. The man with the gray hair slowly lowered his book entitled "Itcha itcha paradise" and looked at the family with a confused-friendly look. "Ohayou."
His pleasantly calm voice somehow didn't match his book and his slightly tousled appearance.
Mrs. Greywood spoke again. "We wanted to ask if you can see the school. You know, our daughter will also be going here from next week." She put an arm around Shana, who reluctantly put up with it.
The gray-haired nodded. "Ah. Of course you can have a look at the school then."
He was smiling lost in thought with his eyes closed.
"Arigatou," said Mr. Greywood and the family said goodbye to the gray-haired man.
Then they went to the large main building of the school, where they parted ways because Shana wanted to visit the art rooms, but her parents wanted to see the normal classrooms. So they agreed to come back here in half an hour.
Shana's parents went into the main building while she went to the right to the specialist rooms. When she was in the main building, however, she didn't know where to go, because the building was huge and she couldn't see a map anywhere.
Fortunately for her, however, a boy with red hair came towards her. He was dressed almost entirely in black, a black T-shirt, dark blue jeans and black chucks. Pretty dark, but also pretty attractive. In his hand he held a sketch pad on which Shana could see a rather bumbling drawing. It was supposed to represent a person lying down, but he had arms and legs of different lengths, only four fingers on one hand and a huge nose. Well, maybe it was abstract art. Besides, Shana couldn't care less anyway, since she just wanted to know the way and didn't have to submit an art review.
"Sorry, can you show me the way to the art rooms?" She asked him kindly. The boy, however, looked at her dismissively. "What are you asking me?" He said brusquely and just walked on without looking at her again.
Shana was pretty stunned and couldn't say anything at first.
"Please excuse my brother. He's always so rude," a voice said something about Shana. A blonde girl was standing on the stairs and looking at her with her arms crossed.
"Oh, okay," Shana said uncertainly.
"The art rooms are right at the top," said the girl and then also left the building.
Shana was a little confused by the refusal of the two, but then went up the stairs to look for the art rooms.
They weren't particularly difficult to find. They were right at the beginning of the first floor. As Shana realized with an expert eye, they were really well equipped. There were extra rooms for pottery and a huge kiln for the finished work.If you ran out of paint or canvas, you could buy some at school. The color printer and the laptop were freely available to everyone. The art rooms themselves were beautiful, too, because they were located in such a way that a lot of light fell into them and that way you could work better. All in all, Shana couldn't complain and it seemed like she was in good hands here.
She went back downstairs to meet her parents. They weren't there yet, but the girl from before was leaning against the wall of the building and looking lost in thought at the schoolyard. When she heard Shana's footsteps, however, she looked up.
"Oh you again? What are you doing here?" She asked, not unfriendly.
"I'm going to visit the school. I'll be here when the new school year starts," said Shana. The girl nodded in understanding.
"And why are you here? There are still three days of vacation," the brunette wanted to know.
"I live here in the dormitory. My two brothers and I almost never go home during the holidays. Our father lives with his new wife in Thailand and then we don't feel like being there anyway," said the girl and shrugged indifferently with your shoulders. Shana looked a bit embarrassed, but didn't want to let the conversation end.
"You have two brothers?" She asked therefore.
"Yes. Gaara and Kankuro. They are both older than me. Gaara is eighteen. You just met him. Kankuro is nineteen and very different from Gaara. He's not so unfriendly and quiet, but rather an open type. He leaves now at Konoha University near here, but was here until recently, "explained the blonde, and Shana listened with interest.
"Wow", she then sighed and let her shoulders sag, because she had always wished for siblings, "Tell me, what's your name anyway?"
"Temari Sabakuno," answered the blonde.
"Hi, I'm Shana Greywood," said the brunette with a smile."Nice to meet you," said Temari and smiled too.
"Where are you from?" Shana asked her further.
"From Canada and you?" Replied the blonde girl.
"From England," Shana replied, but at that moment her parents came and they had to end the conversation.
"Okay, I have to go now. We'll definitely see you again," said the brown-haired girl and waved goodbye to Temari.
"Yes, definitely," she replied with a smile.
Shana grinned and then ran to her parents, who were bubbling with enthusiasm.
"Oh honey, this school is wonderful," trilled Mrs. Greywood, happily hugging Shana, pulling her breath away.
"Yeah, she's really beautiful," Shana gasped and tried to free herself from her mother's grasp.

When they finally got home, Shana was pretty exhausted. Without saying much, she went to her room and let herself fall into her wide four-poster bed. She thought about how her first day of school would be. She hoped that she would survive him without breaking her neck or stepping into any faux pas. That would be a little too cruel.
However, it would also be pretty cruel if all the guys at Konoha Academy were as rude as this Gaara this afternoon. Ok, that would be pretty unlikely. But hopefully they all looked as good as him. That would be a nice surprise and a real delight during all the boring math lessons.
Shana turned on her radio and found a station that played US and UK music. When she finally found one after a long search, she got ready for bed and then went to sleep. It had been a really busy day today and jet lag was giving her a hard time.
She was carried to sleep to the sound of "No One" by Alicia Keys.
