When I woke up, I didn't know what had happened at first, but I remembered it after a little while. I opened my eyes and blinked briefly.
I smiled slightly when I saw Michael. Michael sighed, it sounded relieved.
"How are you?" he asked, his voice sounding concerned.
"Well." I meant. It was true, I felt really good. Well, maybe not well, but I wasn't feeling bad either.
Michael looked down. "Sorry Claire." I heard him say softly. I looked at him in surprise. I didn't know why, but I didn't expect him to apologize.
He must have been sitting next to me the whole time, he hadn't even bandaged his wounds.
I looked amazed at the numerous injuries.
They had already started to heal and, I wasn't entirely sure, but I believed some of the minor wounds were completely gone.
How was that possible? I couldn't possibly have been passed out for so long? Why did his injuries suddenly heal so quickly?
Suddenly Michael got up. He went to the other side of the cell, took his shirt from there and pulled it on without bandaging the injuries."Take a rest, I'll be back soon." If he still said, then he was already outside.
He threw the dead werewolf over his shoulder, then disappeared with him into the dark.
I looked after him for a moment, but then I closed my eyes again and just waited for Michael to come back.
I waited a long time, felt how I was getting tired, and finally I sank back into a deep, dreamless sleep.

When I woke up again, I noticed that it was quite warm. I opened my eyes and saw the crackling flames. A rabbit was roasting over the fire.
I sat down and looked around, but Michael wasn't there. I wondered what else he was doing, firewood was here after all.
The rabbit seemed good so I took it off the fire to keep it from charring. I put it aside for a moment, got up, and went to the barred window. I took the blanket off and looked outside, it actually looked the same as on the other side of the cave.
No matter where I looked, there was only snow to be seen everywhere. And of course the rocks.
I put the blanket over the window again, went back to the fire and ate some of the rabbit.
It felt good to get something warm in my stomach after all this time in the cave, and anyway the rabbit was a welcome change from the dry bread I had otherwise eaten.
I didn't notice Michael until he closed the gate, he had been so quiet. He had apparently fetched fresh water because he had water bottles in hand.
He heated some of the water over the fire while putting the other back in his pocket. Only now did I notice that I had his cloak over my shoulders. Was he just outside in the freezing cold ?!

The water seemed hot, at least Michael pulled a mug out of his pocket and filled it with the hot water before he handed it to me.I thanked him and drank the cup almost in one gulp. I filled it again and looked at Michael out of the corner of my eye.
The whole time he just stared into the flames. Something was bothering him, I was sure of that. As I sipped my hot water, I wondered what he was brooding about.
Did he even blame himself for drinking from me? No certainly not.
I took another sip. Or maybe yes? I also turned my gaze to the flames.
We sat next to each other in silence for a long time and I drank some of the hot water now and then while Michael sat completely motionless the whole time.
I pulled his cloak tighter around my shoulders even when I wasn't cold.
In fact, thanks to the warm food, the hot water and the fire, I had been really pleasantly warm again for a long time. I looked briefly at Michael out of the corner of my eye.
Or ... was he blaming himself? I continued to look at him for a while, his face motionless as he looked into the flames.
Either he didn't even notice that I was looking at him or he didn't want to notice.
I kept eyeing him as I finished eating. Michael still hadn't moved.
"Everything OK?" I asked him worried. No reaction. “Michael?” He still didn't respond. Reluctantly, I reached out and touched his shoulder lightly. He blinked briefly and looked at me.
"What's happening?" asked he. He was completely normal again.
"Nothing ... you just ... kind of stepped away." I replied a little embarrassed and pulled my arm back again.
"I'm sorry, I was just thinking," he said. He got up and went to the window.
He pushed the covers aside a little and looked outside. "You should try to get some sleep. The next few days will be exhausting and you ... have lost a lot of blood." He said after a moment, without taking his eyes off the window.I noticed that his hands closed in fists, he seemed angry. I just wondered if he was mad at himself for drinking or at me for letting me be.
I nodded and lay down on the mattress. I doubted I could sleep, after all, I had slept the whole time Michael was gone, but I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.
It was quiet for a long time, you could only hear Nox's hooves rattling on the ground now and then. But at some point I heard Michael's steps and opened my eyes a little to see what he was doing. He went to the fire and added some wood. I closed my eyes again as I was getting really tired.
It didn't take long before I fell asleep. But until I fell asleep, I was still pondering about Michael, about the fact that he had just stepped away ... He seemed to have been really deep in thought and I wondered what he had been thinking about.

I woke up when Michael covered me properly with his cloak again. Then he put a couple of blankets over me, judging by weight, there were at least two. I would have expected him to get up and walk away again, but he stayed next to me. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He had looked into the flames, but when he saw my gaze he returned it.
"Did I wake you?" he asked in his soft voice that sounded a little smoky from the fire.
I shook my head.
"Not that bad." I said and smiled slightly. I looked into the flames for a moment, then looked at Michael again.
"And the flames ... you don't mind the light?" I asked.
Michael looked at me, the question seemed to surprise him a little.
"No." He just meant it, just as I was used to from him. I sighed. By now I really doubted he would become more talkative at some point.Well, I would have to live with it. We are silent for a short moment, then Michael said:
"You should get some more sleep. Maybe we'll leave again tomorrow."
I kept looking at him, shaking my head a little hesitantly. "I can't sleep, I was sleeping the whole time before."
Michael just nodded in response, remained silent and turned his gaze back to the flames. I was a little surprised when he broke the silence after a while.
"You know, the light from fire or from candles, from the moon and from the stars, we don't mind anything. Well, some of us are a bit sensitive to light and therefore even avoid the light of flames, but basically it doesn't harm us It is only the light of the sun that we cannot tolerate. It burns our skin and can even kill us. "Michael was interrupted by a loud thunder, he did not begin to speak again.
I sighed. Slowly his silent manner got on my nerves a bit, but well, I probably wouldn't be able to change it.
I had no choice but to hope that at some point he would become more talkative. A gust of wind swept through the room and made the ceiling that hung in front of the window flutter to the floor. I looked outside.
A flash of lightning lit the night for a brief moment, and seconds later it thundered. It was snowing pretty hard, Michael looked a little worried when he looked outside as well.
"We'd better leave tomorrow. As soon as the sun has set." He said and continued to look outside. The flames flickered as another gust of wind swept through the cave.
It was going to be an uncomfortable night, I had the feeling. I sat down and, like Michael, leaned against the cave wall. I looked further outside and pulled the blankets tighter around me when another gust of wind blew through the cave and the flames flickered dangerously again. A few snowflakes had already lost their way in here and only those that were blown a little closer to the fire melted. It was freezing cold and I now also hid my hands in the blanket, which I had already pulled up to my shoulders.
I looked at Michael, he hadn't even taken a blanket and I still had his cloak around my shoulders. "Do not you feel cold?" I asked, completely taken aback.
Michael shook his head.
"No." He said and continued to look out the window. In the sky the lightning flashed every second and the thunder almost never stopped.
"Unusual, such a violent thunderstorm, and then at that time of the year ..." Michael said a little thoughtfully, but I hardly noticed it because I was about to nod off again.
Even though I had closed my eyes, I could still see the flash of lightning in my mind's eye. Until I finally disappeared into the realm of dreams.

When I woke up, I was comfortably warm. I felt rested and recovered, but neither the darkness in the cave nor the pleasant warmth contributed to the fact that I was finally awake.
Nevertheless, I slowly woke up and left the pleasant twilight state in which one is sometimes after waking up.
I blushed when I realized I was sitting with my
