Chapter: How it all started ...
It seemed to be an ordinary day. A kingdom of enormous wealth shone under the hot Egyptian sun.
As high priest at Pharaoh's court, Seth guarded the millennium rod, one of seven mysterious objects that could be fatal if caught in the wrong hands. In the past it had already become apparent that these items were attracting a great deal of attention. Seth himself was aware of this, but he watched the staff with great care.
The objects concealed a great power which easily aroused in those who could control them the desire to extend this power still further. Seth also succumbed to this spell, some time ago. As the pharaoh's cousin, he would have been entitled to the throne had it not been for that man. It was said that Seth would have been unlawfully expelled from his place, and he too had believed this for a long time. With the power of the Millennium Items he had tried to usurp power in the kingdom, but Pharaoh and his friends and servants had prevented him.
Seth had changed in his grief. For many years now, he was pursuing a completely different goal. The office of high priest, which he still held despite everything, gave him a position from which he was on par with the Pharaoh - if only unofficially.
Pharaoh was a gullible man, and when Seth fought faithfully by his side from then on, he forgave his guilt. Seth despised Atemu and Atemu knew it. But since the etiquette was respected in public, Atemu ignored it - the risk of having the guardian of the Millennium Staff as an enemy was too great. So Seth's peculiarities were largely tolerated.
Seth was a good high priest, he fulfilled the office conscientiously and carefully. The personal feud against the Pharaoh did not make his work any worse, on the contrary.Seth carefully took care of the tasks assigned to him and also did a lot more.
At his side, for more than six and a half years now, was a loyal servant whom he had brought to court one morning. Nobody knew his name, nobody asked about it. He had arrived when he was just 10 years old and since then he was the only one who had ever seen Seth smile. He had free access to Seth's rooms and was at his side with advice and action. Anyone who watched the two would have wondered why the priest was holding onto the boy. Young and naive as he was, he kept getting himself into trouble and Seth got into it. Everything he touched failed, but not one act remained without consequences. It was thanks to him that Seth had lost the battle for the throne, but he did not send him away.
Whatever prompted Seth to do this, it did not bother the Pharaoh much. The country flourished, the priests went about their duties, people enjoyed life.
Nobody could have suspected that an ancient parchment that the young servant found in the desert would set enemies on the way he had never known.
For now, however, it was quiet in and around Egypt. The Pharaoh announced his engagement to Princess Teana, who was expecting their first child. The people congratulated him on this decision; close to the people, as Teana was, she had many admirers and so it was not long before she was established as the future queen.
In Seth's life things didn't go so smoothly, his girlfriend Kisara behaved more and more dismissive, more and more withdrawn. Seth had neither the time nor the nerve for such a chaos of emotions, and so the girl with the long, pale blue hair became an unwanted guest more and more often. One morning she disappeared without saying anything.
Seth couldn't know what had happened to her in the desert, and Kisara herself probably didn't understand either when two strangers suddenly stood in front of her.The two looked just as strange in Egypt as she did, the hot sun of Egypt seemed to have nothing to do with her paleness. Kisara was confused to meet her, Cyrus and his sister Meira seemed to know everything about her, even though she had met them for the first time that day. It suddenly seemed to be foggy around them, and the two of them came closer and closer to them. Kisara discovered an object that she should not have discovered there. When she saw the Millennium Chain on the neck of the redheaded Meira, she realized with fear what this must have meant. Priestess Isis, who had been the keeper of the chain, had disappeared from the palace some time ago, along with her brother Marik. Nobody had known what had happened to them, but for Kisara the picture was now taking shape.
Her horrified look made Meira and Cyrus laugh out loud - when Kisara tried to flee, she was already trapped. Caught in the fog they controlled.
When Kisara finally got back to the palace, she was unrecognizable. In the corridor she met Mana, a young student priest who was very good friends with Seth. Without hesitation, Kisara attacked the girl.
The fog soon wore off, but Kisara couldn't remember anything. The unconscious mana had been found by Seth. He listened to what she said in disbelief, and his dislike grew with each of Mana's words. Kisara had lost her place in Seth's heart.
