A Cinderella Story
-One and Only-
---
Kagome danced out of the bathroom, humming. Inuyasha would be there for her in about an hour. He wanted to take them wherever. The girl radiantly touched the dress she would wear tonight. She had bought it especially for the occasion, after all, she only celebrated the first anniversary with the respective boyfriend once in a lifetime.
She still remembered her first 'date' exactly, which wasn't really one in that sense. They knew each other through friends and various parties, so they were no longer strangers. They chatted, fooled around, and once he even took them home. But it was never between them again.
One day, on December 31st, to be precise, they were invited to a good friend's New Year's party. Kagome had been looking forward to it weeks before, because she really wanted to see him again. She felt comfortable with him, he gave her security, even if it was only at celebrations from which they knew each other, she felt drawn to him.
Anyway, she got ready and with her then best friend Kikyo she went to Aiko. Aiko's family were damn rich, so their property was huge. It was at the top of a hill. Since it was New Year's Eve, the party took place in the garden. The buffet had been set up on a long table, music was playing from large boxes and lanterns were hanging everywhere. In the trees, on the roof. It looked like the balls of light were floating.
Kagome and Kikyo arrived two hours before the new year and everyone was already on the move. Her friend went to get them something to drink and meanwhile Kagome was talking to Aiko's cousin Sango. She was really nice and funny and her boyfriend was super cute too. The two went really well together and Kagome gave them the best of luck. Sighing, the girl looked more often at the entrance than into Sango's eyes. "Who are you waiting for?" She asked Kagome at the time. Briefly, the addressed competed with her red dress that reached to her knees.Aiko's cousin laughed and Kagome told her about him.
Half an hour before midnight she still hadn't spotted him and she didn't think he would show up anymore. While searching for Kikyo, she met a few classmates, including Ayame. Slightly drunk, she staggered in their direction. “Well, who do you kiss at midnight?” Unsuspecting, Kagome shrugged. With a sweeping gesture, Ayame said: "They are all available to you! Just look at him, isn't he incredibly cute?" "Isn't that ... Kikyo? But with whom ... Oh ..." Horrified, Kagome took a closer look and indeed: Kikyo kissed her guy!
With her mouth wide open, she watched as the boy pushed her back slightly, looked in her direction, and walked away. Grinning, Kikyo approached Ayame and Kagome, but the latter only had a disgusted expression on her face. "And that's what is called a best friend!", She shouted, reached out with a flat hand and hit Kikyo on her cheek with it. The girl held the sore half of her face in an appraising manner, turned and disappeared into the crowd.
'Such a devious cow! 'thought Kagome as she continued up the hill. She had told Kikyo how she felt about him! You don't do that!
Breathing heavily, she stopped. A tremor ran through her body. She looked around blankly and walked on. She wanted to go up to the hill. From there you could see the whole city. Whenever she had problems, she came here. She had the feeling that if she could see the city from above, she could also become master of her feelings and thoughts.
Puffing, she came to 'her' place and just sat down. Lights glittered everywhere, the houses looked like Monopoly. A cold breeze enveloped them. Kagome wrapped her arms around her, shivering.
It was horrible, she'd lost her best friend and the guy she had a crush on.Shivering, she inhaled the refreshing air. She tried to suppress everything, but it didn't work. Her eyes smeared with tears, she pressed her lips together and swallowed hard. Kagome didn't want to cry, wanted to be strong. If she cried now, she would have lost control of herself. And when that happened she was weak, and she didn't want to be weak.
But it was her and tears ran down her cheeks in rivers, smeared her elaborate make-up. Sobbing, she gasped for air. "Calm down, Kagome. He's just one type of many. So why are you crying? Laugh at someone else," she tried to convince herself. She calmed down again and stopped altogether. The girl pulled up her nose, looked around. She had just heard something, right?
A missile launched too early made them flinch and remind them that the new year would begin in a few minutes. Great, celebrating New Year's Eve alone on a deserted hill was definitely not so great. Kagome wanted to get up, back to the party, but she didn't move an inch. A branch cracked behind her and she turned around, startled. "You?" She asked surprised. Shivering, she rubbed her upper arms. She was trembling. It was sooo cold!
Slowly he came to her, took off his jacket and put it around her shoulders. “Why are you here alone?” His voice soothed Kagome and the trembling stopped, she even pushed her thoughts aside and just enjoyed the moment, here, with him. “I could ask you the same thing.” He put an arm around her shoulder and the girl snuggled up against him contentedly. "About Kikyo ... I ... it didn't mean anything. She attacked me!" He said suddenly. Kagome had to laugh. "That's the way it is ...", she replied and her breath caught. He looked at her so strangely ... innocent, sweet, blissful ... she couldn't describe it.
"Ten!", The two suddenly heard voices scream. The countdown to the new year!
“Nine!” He caressed her cheek tenderly.
“Eight!” He put both hands on her shoulders.
“Seven!” She moved closer to him.
“Six!” His hands went down to her back, he held her sides.
“Five!” He couldn't take his eyes off her lips, they looked so inviting!
“Four!” Kagome let her hands wander in turn, placing them on his shoulders.
“Three!” They smiled at each other.
“Two!” Their faces approached.
“One!” Their lips touched tentatively. Thunderous applause, "Happy New Year!" Shouts and rocket crackers barely reached the ears of the two of them. They were still staring at each other, holding on and smiling. "Happy New Year, Inuyasha," said Kagome smiling, kissing him again. This time more intense. "Happy New Year to you too," Inuyasha replied, kissing her in turn.
The girl remembered the evening a year ago with a grin. It had been beautiful and their relationship became more intimate and beautiful every day. They seldom quarreled, but when they quarreled, the tatters flew. But the reconciliations were always great and stabilized their bond even more.
"Shit!" Exclaimed Kagome. She had 20 minutes left and she hadn't even started anything!
“Kagome!” Her mother yelled for her daughter for the third time. "I'm sorry, Inuyasha. I don't know why she doesn't hear," she apologized to Kagome's friend. "No problem", he said loosely and rocked on his feet forwards and backwards. "I'm coming!" His beloved called down after Ms. Higurashi yelled for her for the 5th time.
Slowly she walked down the stairs and was eagerly awaited by Inuyasha. He caught his breath. She looked amazing! "Thanks," she said, embarrassed when he shared his thoughts with her. “But you too,” Kagome looked at him, “where did you get the tuxedo from?it suits you! "
Inuyasha thanked her. "We'll go then," he said to Kagome's mother. "Bring my daughter back to me safely!" Tears glittered in her eyes. "Naturally!"
The two stepped out of the house and it was just as cold as last year. Her breath rose in tiny, white clouds. An infinitely long limousine was parked outside the Higurashi estate. "You don't have to spend that much money on me!" Kagome exclaimed in horror. "Nothing is valuable to me for you," said Inuyasha simply. He stopped, hugged her and kissed his Kagome.
"Mademoiselle", he held the door open for her and both got in, Inuyasha of course after the girl.
Kagome didn't talk much, she stared out the window and was satisfied. "Where are you going?" She asked. "Let yourself be surprised," said Inuyasha only mysteriously and grinned. "I hate surprises," she muttered. Her boyfriend looked at her in amazement, his plush ears twitching. "You only do that because I won't tell you where it's going. Besides, you love surprises."
She had to laugh, taken by surprise. He knew her well!
A few minutes later they reached the hill where they had met. Kagome smiled as the limo headed for the tip. Inuyasha took her hand and held it tight. He kissed her cheek, snuggled up against her. The half demon wanted to tell her something, but it was still too early.
When the car stopped, they both got out and the limo drove away. "How do we get home?", Kagome asked in amazement while they waved after the chief. "Don't worry about that. Besides, it's New Year's Eve, the man wants to celebrate with his family." Kagome nodded understandingly. "We have to go a little longer," said Inuyasha and both of them set off tightly together.
When the two of them got where they had kissed a year ago, both had to grin happily. They looked at the glittering city below and kissed as they did then. They sat down, chatted and enjoyed their togetherness. "How much longer?", Kagome asked for the thousandth time and the half demon looked annoyed at his watch. "Oh," he said simply. "Three ... two ... one," he muttered. Again hundreds of rockets went into the air, people cheered, congratulated each other and were simply happy. For a while the two watched the spectacle in front of them, but Inuyasha got up and pulled Kagome with her. "I have another surprise for you," he said, walking slowly behind him into the bushes. He let go of her hand. “Wait a minute!” He ran in quickly.
She waited for him shivering. What was he up to?
He reappeared a few minutes later, beaming. “Now you can come.” He took her hand again, held it tight and led her
