"Why did you only have to say yes", complained Jasen who was just putting on make-up. "What should I have said? I'm sorry, but we're fully booked?", Valerie stated sarcastically. "Why not", came only from Jasen who was finally finished after a quarter of an hour.

"Ah come on, it's just a little gig so don't make a drama out of it," Emily tried to cheer up the group. "But the whole town is watching us," Grace remarked. "Yes, and all of that without a rehearsal," said Dawn.

"And who else do we have all of our songs on it and we don't have to practice any new songs for a small city festival," explained Valerie. "She's right, let's just look for three songs that are somewhat ok and then we'll show what we can do," said Emily to her friend.

The other three band members just looked at each other helplessly and Jasen only let go of something like: "Why did I have to be in this band of all people". "Because you can't live without us", Dawn grinned at the younger one.

After three hours the band finally arrived at the desired location. Grace looked at the stage and stated: "Could it be that our stage is getting smaller and smaller or am I wrong". Now Dawn also looked around and just said: "No, it is really getting smaller and smaller".

"We have sunk deeply," said Jasen, who was now also looking around. "Ah come on Jasen think positively," smiled Emily. "Yes, yes, and not always negative," grinned Valerie and was just about to connect her electric guitar to the amplifier.

After half an hour the instruments were set up and the girls were more or less ready for the performance. The mayor came up to them and said only: "I'm happy that you appear here. I'll go and announce you to the audience".

As soon as the mayor announced the band they went on stage and Dawn took over the word: "The first song you will hear now is called Why not us".Then they gave each other a sign to start.

When they stopped the street rang out with clapping and cheering. The band members looked at each other with relief. "The next song is called Welcome to my life, and I hope you like it too", Valerie said into the microphone and gave another sign to start.

As soon as the instruments had given their final sounds, the crowd began to cheer again and you could clearly hear that they wanted more. The band members looked at each other satisfied and happy.

When the girls dismantled their instruments, a man in a black suit came towards them. "You are really good," he said and stopped in front of the girls. "And you are"? Jasen asked rather uninterestedly.

"Manager and producer. I would like to sign you. Of course only if the ladies don't mind," he said kindly. The five looked at each other in amazement and with open mouths. Emily was the first to recover and said: "We'd love to work for her".

The man smiled and gave her a business card. "My address is on it. You are welcome to come by tomorrow at 11 o'clock to take care of everything in writing," he explained and then left again."We're really getting a full-time contract," said Grace unbelievably. Dawn nodded and just said: "Thanks Valerie". "Why thanks to me"? she asked
