The first painful lesson
Chapter 3
The first painful lesson
When I woke up the next morning, I first had to orientate myself where I was. After a while the memories came back and with them the pain of separation. I could understand Kankuro a little, but that was why he had to do it to me. Then came the memory that I had to spend the whole day with Gaara and a lot of paperwork.
As soon as I had thought the thought through to the end, there was a soft knock on the door. "That's definitely not Gaara, he doesn't knock so gently on the door." I thought to myself in secret.
But when I didn't react, the knocking became more energetic and it sounded more like Gaara. When I somehow ignored that too, he just walked in and almost scared me to death.
"Apparently I didn't knock loud enough or you should have your ears checked.", He said, as always, rather callous. “Oh God, how am I supposed to stand this day?” Unfortunately, I realized too late that I had said that out loud and of course got a nasty look at the same time, which made me winced.
"Get dressed and come under and hurry, I don't have forever.", He said and disappeared.
It got off to a great start, and the day had only just begun.
When I finally got downstairs I thought at first that Gaara had disappeared because he was nowhere to be seen. But as is his way, he appeared out of nowhere and looked down at me grouchily.
"I thought you got lost on the way down here," he said sarcastically and turned away. He just marched off without making sure that I was following him, at least I had the feeling. As if that wasn't bad enough, he got faster and faster and always disappeared into some corridors. At some point I lost my bearings. “How am I supposed to ever find my way out of here.” I thought to myself in panic and looked around at Gaara, but he had apparently disappeared."Gaara!" I whispered more than I can tell. Suddenly I heard something behind me and turned around in the hope that it is Gaara, but there was nothing until a cat jumped towards me and let me push back against something. I had to get over the shock first before I could turn around against what I had hit. I took a few deep breaths and turned to look into Gaara's expressionless face. "Where are you hanging around, we don't have time for that.", He just said and literally ran against it.
"And then he is surprised that I can't keep up. What an idiot." I whispered quietly to myself as I was already running against him. At first I thought he heard me, but my worries were for nothing else.
"We're here.", He growled more than he said, you could really annoy you more than Naruto. I had to take care of my anger later, as he said we had arrived at the Kazekage building. He continued walking slowly this time as if he were afraid someone would give him a ticket for his increased speed. People stared at me and some even whispered behind their hands. As if I were a felon they partly stared at me. The views were so penetrating that I felt completely helpless and naked. "How had Naruto put up with it all these years." I wondered when I painfully realized that I had treated him too. That I was not a bit better than all the people here and that I actually had no right to judge Gaara. Even though Temari had assured me that he had changed, I didn't feel any of it. Or did he even want everyone to think he was still the monster.
"Why do these eyes hurt so much, why would I like to scream." It occurred to me.
Because of my self-pity, I didn't see that Gaara looked at me with such a strange sad look, as if he knew what I was going through. But that moment had passed before anyone noticed. I tried to calm down and after several minutes, it seemed to me, I finally succeeded. Just right the Gaara stopped in front of a door and opened it. He let me enter first and then closed the door behind us. His office was pretty bare and impersonal, with papers everywhere on a desk or crumpled up in a corner of the room. There was a sofa and a small table with a couple of chairs around it, his large desk, and two swivel chairs. One of them was in front of the desk and the other on the other side.
Gaara offered me the required chair and sat down on the other one himself. Since I had no other choice, I sat down and waited for what Gaara did. He got a couple of dozen documents and started flipping through them.
"What ninjaang did you have?" He asked formally as if we didn't know each other.
"Genin."
"What was your last assignment in Konoha? Speak to a teacher or group leader, you already know what I mean."
"Medic nin." I answered shortly.
"When was your last mission?"
"About a week ago. Can't Master Ts ...... Um Hokage tell you that."
"She is currently not available and I need the information now so you have to tell me otherwise there could be problems."
"Why didn't she say it right away. She had enough time if she could hold me for that long."
"I don't care what happened there and I don't care. I just find it extremely annoying to take in a ninja from another state that I cannot classify. Because he refuses to give me the information." He had screamed the last sentence, it was the first emotional reaction I had experienced from him since I was here. But he wasn't finished yet and added. "If you continue to be so stubborn I'll have you locked up for the rest of your life."I wanted to get up and run away, but what would he do to me then? He was the Kazekage he could do practically anything with me what he wanted and I couldn't defend myself against it. I didn't know what to say and neither did I know what to do. How could I get through the rest of my life with such an ignorant leader?
What should I do? I just got into the sin and left it all behind me, but what would Tsunade think of me, not to mention Naruto and Sensei Kakashi.
The pain threatened to overwhelm me and I didn't even notice how everything went black before my eyes. I only heard Gaara say my name, but that somehow passed me by.
When I opened my eyes I had a déjà-vu experience, everything seemed strangely familiar to me, only the room was different. I heard someone move when I opened my eyes and came to my bed.
"You'll wake up again.", The cold voice of Gaara remarked and I remembered what had happened.
At least I tried, but I couldn't quite succeed.
"You passed out, it's probably the weather. Not everyone can take it," he explained, although he didn't seem to believe it himself.
I looked around the room again and realized that I was still in Gaara's office. I was lying on the sofa that was in the room and I was all too aware that Gaara must have carried me there. "Should I thank him now?" I asked myself, but that was completely for the rest of the Gaara had got up and left the room.
"Where is he going?"
I tried to sit up and began to wonder why I had passed out. I wasn't feeling bad and it wasn't too hot in the room either, so it couldn't be that. What was the matter with me, it all finally grew over my head. What should I do if this happened to me often. She was torn from her thoughts when the door opened and Gaara came back. He had someone there who seemed somehow familiar to Sakura.
"Matsuri take a look at it and let me know when you are finished.", Gaara said and left the room again. Matsuri leaned over and felt my forehead to see that I didn't have a fever. Then the usual examinations followed to rule out all possible diseases.
"Are you very upset about something? That would be the last explanation I would have, otherwise you are in good health."
"It's all a bit much, I think that's why I passed out. And then there's the new climate, I'm a little confused."
Matsuri looked at her suspiciously and packed up her utensils, then she got up and went to the door.
"I will tell Master Kazekage so that you can continue." With these words she was out the door.
Gaara let me know that I could go back into the house. He had an emergency conference and therefore had to postpone the formalities with me. I just couldn't believe it. First they do a third that gets done and then something like that. But it wasn't my business either, I could be glad that Gaara hadn't followed up on his threat.
It took me forever to find my way back and when I finally got there it seemed like a dream to me. The clocks seemed to stand still and every hour seemed to take an eternity until it was night. I started to understand Gaara why he liked to work so much, there was really nothing to do. I had showered and changed into fresh clothes, then went to see the house and almost got lost. Finally I decided to go to my room and stay there. I didn't know when I fell asleep, in any case I woke up suddenly and didn't know why.I sat up and tried to see something in the dark room. Something had moved in the shadow ... I held my breath and tried to listen to the noises of the night. But there was nothing. Except for a very faint sound like someone was breathing. I screamed and then everything went black.
